As the Romans storm the last stronghold of Dacia, Princess Ademeni awaits her fate. Taken as a slave, she is deposited into General Marcus Cordovis's home as a gift.

Driven to avenge her family, Ademeni plots to kill her captor and escape. Though not the cruel victor she expects, Marcus keeps her too close to make escape easy—so close that Ademeni is soon tormented by an un

"You should pierce my heart now, Marcus Cordovis, General of Rome." Her dark eyes flashed. "Because if I live, I will not hesitate to kill you."

Wow. Touch chick. That's the heroine of this book, Ademeni, a Dacian princess turned slave after her nation is conquered by the Romans. So how does she go from threatening to kill the hero to warming his bed and fearing for his life?

Never judge a man solely by the actions of the group as a whole. Marcus does have a heart, unlike his brother in law. The e

WOW!! With all the Roman studies I have had to do, this book was PERFECT! The references were right, the way of the people was right, the customs, slaves, pillage of war...EVERYTHING!!

I have never read a romance set in the times of the Roman empire. This was so good! It had the evil out for blood & who care less about the consequences or empathy, when it comes to the capture of another country! Murder was easy & the people better thank the gods they are still alive, considering it could

A sweet story of love between a slave and the Roman soldier who brings her into his home...and his heart.

What can I say? I absolutely loved this historical romance!

This is tender, well-written romance with a tantalizing plot. This is no sickeningly sweet love-at-first-sight romance, folks. We get our fill of deceit, a glimpse of Roman culture, and

A pertinacious pincess turned slave, a gentle and respectable General, and a sociopath second-in-command. All of the characters were believable and se

"Surrender to the Roman" by M.K. Chester was a wonderful, sweet historical romance between a slave and a Roman solder that was a well written for the readers.

The story was of a princess of Dacia that was turned slave....with a respectable General.... and (a brother in law-Tertullian) a second in command who was a crazy person. The author did wonderful work with t
Summary recap. Hero conquers foreign land and captures heroine. He holds her captive while he faces a moral dilemma whether he wants to continue waging war or "retire" to live a life of peace. Meanwhile, heroine resists captivity but due to her captor's kindness, she eventually resigns herself to her fate and falls in love. Throw in a villian and a dangerous plot where the couple have to overcome and there you have it, your typical romantic novel.

Why the story didn't work? Partly because so muc

I read this book in one sitting. Ademeni is a Dacian princess during the reign of Emperor Trajan. Passionate, proud, she is every bit a princess and she is none too happy about finding herself the property of Marcus Cordovis. In fact, she's bent on murdering the man. And he is not very happy to have receive her as a gift. Marcus isn't a man who enjoys war, in fact, the loss of life and irreverent disregard for the humanity o

Simply excellent. I loved it!

Surrender to the Roman is a magnificent, sweet, tender romance that is true to the time period of the Romans.

Ademeni is a Dacian princess who was taken as a slave in General Marcus' home. She plots revenge against the leader who conquered her home and fights her attraction to him. That becomes harder as her proves himself to be a decent man who shows her true kindness. I really liked that she didn't hold a grudge. When she falls in love with Marcus, she lets go of he

I really enjoyed this one, but found the final confrontation between the hero and the antagonist a bit anti-climatic. I was hoping for a gladiator-style battle in the arena but instead got a quick fix with the antagonist taken care of off screen (and not even at the hands of the hero). On the whole though I found the story and characters compelling, and I loved the setting.

A fluffy title that had me wondering why I added it to my wish list. Wonderfully romantic and with enough history for those of us who love the details.

I gave this a B- on All About Romance, so really more of a 3.5 stars for this one.

The ancient world could be a pretty brutal place, a reality that gets glossed over only slightly in Surrender to the Roman. While that might put some readers off, I was curious to see what an author would do with a captor/captive romance set in the harsh world of the Roman Empire. I'm glad I gave this book a try because even though it had its issues, it was still an enjoyable read.

Loved this book. Loved the unusual and completely complicated time period, Trajan's Dacian wars (Dacia =Romania or thereabouts). Dacian princess captured and enslaved by a Roman general. I know it sounds weak but there were some very interesting characters and there was more than a little insight into the good old Roman war machine. The writing was top notch, engaging and did not lag. The hero was not a super controlling dominate and the princess was no weakling and quite strong. Overall good re ...more

I loved the premise and setting but the book never lived up to that promise. I found the heroine Ademeni irritating and had a few moments of TSTL and there wasn't much of a connection with the hero. I loved the setting and atmosphere but the characterisation and lukewarm romance didn't work for me.

File this under things I read when I can't find Spartacus fanfiction. Surprisingly interesting plot. Though things tend to happen for no reason at all and the dialogue was far too modern for a historical piece.

A very nice twist, a historical set in ancient Rome. I have not read many in this era, I quite enjoyed it.
