Steam punk is not a genre that I have read before. I was impressed by the vivid descriptions that Annie used to pull me into this world. The costumes and the machinery were fresh and bright. The jungle felt warm and steamy and who wouldnt want to be there with Captain Doogooder? What I particularly like is that this is the first in a series. When I find an author that I like, I want more books and quickly.

Let me just say that that was a beautiful ending to the story. Unfortunately Goodreads hadn't let me know that this was a series. But fortunately for me I managed to randomly pick up the first book. First up, I am a steampunk virgin. By definition then just about everything in this book was original to me. And I enjoyed it immensely. From taking it a little slowly at first, not knowing what I was getting into, I very soon ran with it. My word there is a lot going on in this 70 page novella. I am a great lover of Steampunk and have read quite a few books in this genre. Annie gives us steampunk gadgets a plenty, a time travelling submarine, ray guns, inept henchmen and shapeshifters.

I have a love and hate relationship with Steampunk novels – I have only read and enjoyed a few and I am glad I read Winter of the Passion Flower because it was a very enjoyable read. Granted that it is short, Winter of the Passion Flower will give you the right dose of steampunk, romance, action and a few steamy moments at the right moment. I am new to the Steampunk genre. Winter of the Passion Flower sounded really interesting, so I figured I'd give it a try. I will admit, I had a bit of a hard time orienting myself to the story. I kind of felt like I was walking into the middle of a movie. I would have liked a little more background in the beginning. Having said that, I did find the story entertaining. I liked the characters and scifi aspect of the book. I think fans of this genre will love this story.

A fun read from a great new author. Love the dual time settings, handled with flair and an eye to getting the hero and heroine into a range of interesting situations, and state of undress (who wears much in the Amazon?) The heroine challenges the social order and Victorian ideas of what is suitable for a woman to do/wear/say, while the hero is a great foil for her sassy attitude. Can I take him home, please?
An entertaining novella that meshes time travel, romance and danger with preparations for the Great Exhibition of 1851. I'd like to take Captain Dogooder home with me, tattoo and all. And Indigo is a feisty, independent woman ahead of her time, with a wonderful social conscience that is matched by her heroic captain.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this but I loved this world. The descriptions alone made me feel I was there. I loved the story of the flower and Indigo's idea to do right in the world.
My only disapointment was that it was too short, what happens next?? Look forward to the next book in the series.

A beautifully well written novel, I loved the time travelling steam sub genius. I now cant wait for further adventures, so here's me hoping Annie Seaton is a really fast writer.
