Very good book. Liza's reporter's curiosity has her doing research on Max and trying to find out more about him. Because of her layoff, she is teaching instead of reporting and her investigative instincts have been on vacation. But now she is searching and the more she finds out the more curious she is. When Max finds out what she is doing, he needs to find a way to stop her. Unfortunately for him, he is very attracted to her which makes it hard for him to keep his mind on the job. I liked this book. I wish I could have seen more verbal interaction with the characters instead of so much repetitive thoughts going on in the characters' minds. Otherwise it was a light, simple, enjoyable read. The hero was just manly & broody enough but still had sensitivity to make me like him. The heroine sort of bothered me in the beginning because I really don't like nosey people. I prefer to mind my own business & have people mind there's. Once she stopped poking around though I f ...more

This was disappointing! While I haven't loved all of the Conard County books, I have at least liked them. The biggest problem was that neither Max or Liza were likeable or appealing and the plot was primarily composed of the couple going on and on about their emotional issues with a couple of bedroom scenes and a couple of pages of suspense. Max McKenny is an undercover ATF agent, hiding out as a professer, until it's time to testify at the trial that will put away a group of homegrown terrorists. Liza Enders is a former reporter who's working as a college professor after being layed off from the job that she loved... What happens when a man with secrets meets a women with an insatiable curiosity???
Rachel Lee does it again! I loved how she made the characters three dimensional and really let you get inside their heads to see what

Recommends it for: fans of contemporary romance

This was a good story in which adjusting to a new self-image and rebuilding after one's previous life seems to be over is a factor for both protagonists.

I also like that the heroine, while a victim in some points of the plot, is no pushover.

I'll keep this.

While it's always nice to visit Conard County, this one had a heroine that just didn't work for me.

The under cover thing has been played with all the subtlety it requires. Loved it.
