The Good
The World According to King Henry...
If any book is going to give someone insight on how my brain really works behind these innocent brown eyes and girly long hair, this is the book to do it. I have a weird kind of thought process that takes the most mundane things and either over analyzes them to the point of hilarity or makes them into something naughty and ridiculous. This is what King Henry does. He has a way of viewing the world through Ki

So love King Henry! Things just happen fast and furious all around him. First book introduced us and gave vampire background. Learned a bit about the were's this time with the promise of more to come!
Enjoy the balance of past and present through out the story. We learn more about the Asylum and how mancers are trained. And how that shaped the King Henry we know and love today.

In the sequel of The King Henry Tapes series, King Henry is back and has managed to really step in it. After playing hero to save a woman being harassed in a parking lot by a group of men, he quickly finds out that the men aren't human. They are Were coyotes. And King Henry thinks nothing of it until he finds out their leader is so fearsome, even his mentor Ceinwyn is afraid of them. And wha

“The Foul Mouth and the Cat Killing Coyotes” is the second book in the King Henry series. The King Henry tapes are fun, fun and more fun. I just love them!
Like in the first book two stories are parallel told. The first story by 14 year old King Henry and the second by grown-up King Henry.

14 year old King Henry goes on the first school field trip with his new class members – a camping trip of all things! Thrown in a tent with his favorite enemy Welf and hearing creatures outside the tent at nigh

Shelves: funny, magical
King Henry Price, both as a student and as an adult, is rude and obscene and funny and even though very much a fictional character, also very fully developed and a real personality. Because of the rudeness, I would never recommend this to anyone who is genuinely offended by or even uncomfortable with foul language. I'm not, being much more offended by hate language and things meant to hurt someone's feelings than I am by the F bomb, and I found this book and the one before it, to be entertaining ...more

Such a fun foul mouthed ride

I read the first 2 King Henry books today and enjoyed every minute of it. It's a familiar world, yet with a twist. Yes, the language is foul. If you have a delicate sensibility, skip it. This book reminds me of a much lighter hearted
Joe Pitt book. King Henry Price LIKES to get into scrapes. Suspects he has not been told all about the world by his teachers and is determined to figure it out on his own. The writing style is a mix of flashbacks in the form of recordings

So much more snark.

Second of the King Henry Tapes continues the Foul Mouth's recordings for the next generation of Mancers (magic users). Make sure you read them in order. A lot of this one is a setup for a whole lot of possibilities to come. Daley does a great job juggling chronology in this book like in the first. Really good switching up the past and present with enough of a seam to make it easy to distinguish between the two. We get to meet some shifters along with a very special surprise m

A modern day fantasy. I found this book and books 1 & 3 of the King Henry Tales series entirely entertaining, so much so that I read them back-to-back. OBYW King his the protagonist's name, not his title. The novels switch between flashback chapters of King Henry's school experiences and chapters set in the 'current' period of his life. Rife with adventures with the magically gifted, spirits and shape-changers. Very well conceived and written, plus a good editing job.

I love the plot twists in this one and totally did not see them coming. The story starts immediately in the action, and the protagonist's voice takes the audience's attention and intelligence for granted in a way that is purely compelling for his characterization. I pretty much can't get enough of this series.

Read it, people. If you're a grown-up or mature YA who likes YA-oriented urban fantasy, but are sick and tired of YA urban fantasy pulling its punches when it comes to sex, violence, and cu

More King Henry kicking butt and swearing his way through it is always a good thing, and we definitely get that in spades this time around. I love these books and cannot wait for more. I only wish there were like 20 of them so I could learn all the stuff that hasn't been told yet!

I don't like doing plot reviews or coming anywhere near spoiling stuff for others, so I'll just say that if you read the first one, you're going to be just as pleased with this one. And eager for more. If you haven't re

When I picked this up, I was worried that the two years since I'd read the first book would leave me lost and confused. Happily, there were enough reminders to jog my memory. I really appreciate that in a series. Also happily, this book was as much rollicking fun as the first one. It continues in the same pattern as before, interspersing King Henry's adult adventures with reminiscences of his adventures in magic school. It also ups the stakes with the introduction of were-society. This will be a ...more

An interesting story though sometimes the writing is a little hard to get user to because it is more 2 stories in one.
