Angel (Dasheen Bellamy) and her younger brother enroll at a new school, Ame Academy after their parents mysteriously disappear. Angel starts having these visions of seeing this little girl with worms coming out of her, yeah I was grossed out by this. She also is dreaming of a boy who she seems somehow connected to but doesn't know how or if she'll meet him. At the same time she's trying to watch over her younger brother.

When I heard about this book I thought it sounded great and I really wanted to read it. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations. One of my problems with this book is the length, only a few authors manage to succeed with making a short book seem like a full book in its own right and not just an introduction and Michelle didn’t. This book would probably be better merged with some of the other books in the series so it is just the first couple of chapters in a longer book.

Night School is a short easy read. I think this book is a good foundation for the whole story. Dasheen and Jordan's parents have disappeared. They are enrolled in Ame Academy. Dasheen is worried when Jordan is transferred to the night schedule. After Dasheen transfers to the night schedule, she discovers there really are supernatural beings such as vampires.

First, I have to say, although short, this book set up a great foundation for what looks to be a VERY good series! The idea of telling the story through journal/blog entries through the eyes of the main character, Dasheen, a teen enrolled in a 'special' school was brilliant! With little memory of her past and accused of of killing her father and godmother, Dasheen and her brother Jordan embark on a journey into a world they never knew existed. Always protective of her brother, Dasheen sees Jorda...more
I wasn't sure what to expect from this story when I decided to read it but I read everything and anything so settled in and began to read. I am so very glad that I did! The author has a very nice writing style that flows very easily and when reading; the story just goes by so quickly because you are just drawn right into it.
This is written in the style of a blog. At first I was afraid that would work against the story and become more of a chore to read but it was a great move on the part of the...more

When I first began reading Night School, the first thing I noticed was the format. I judge my reviews based on the story and characters and whether or not I enjoy it, but I have to say I absolutely LOVE the idea of the novella being a series of blog posts.
The idea’s been used before in one manner or another, the most famous one (that I read) is Dracula by Bram Stoker. Written in the form of journal entries and letters, the similarities between the two helped to draw me into the story.

I would like to thank the author for giving me this book free in exchange for an honest review.
This is literally the only vampire book I have ever read! Because I didn't care for vampire movies when I was younger, I assumed it would be the same; however, I found this story to be very good.
The story begins in such a way that it is very disturbing to me. I wasn't sure if the protagonist was insane or on drugs or if something else was going on. I felt sorry for her and what she was going through,...more

I’m curious as to where Michelle will take this series. I will admit, I wasn’t expecting that much out of a short novella, but man did she manage to pack a lot in. The blogging style of writing was unique, and I think it gave the novella a different tone from other short stories out there. I’m hoping as this series evolves the blogging style of writing will transition into “normal” writing if only to help with the flow of the story.

I read Night School as a part of Shut Up and Read's "Read it and Reap" program, receiving the book for an honest review.
I liked the premise for this book. It was interesting and I liked how Rafael added some mystery into the story near the end. I do wish the characters were a bit older though...it seems odd for me to want my main character to have a relationship at 15. Maybe that part is just me, but her brother acts a bit older than 13 too.

With all the vampire books coming out in the last few years, its nice to find one that is unique and original, and Night School fits that bill. The novella tells the tale of a teenager who has mysteriously lost her family. Right before they disappeared, leaving only a pool of blood behind, Dasheen sees a terrifying little girl who continues to haunt her. Now she is in an orphanage of sorts that has a special group of kids who attend school at night. At first, everything seems kosher, even though...more
Short and unsatisfactory.
I'm sorry but when I learned that this eBook only has 62 pages, I was already bracing myself for disappointment because I didn't think the whole Vampire Hunter concept could be wrapped up in such a short way. Basically, this all felt like a prologue to the upcoming books and I just really hope that they will be much longer in comparison.

This was a short book at 62 pages. But it was definitely worth reading.
Night School took the myth of vampires and made it intriguing. I'm usually opposed to reading vampire books since I'm sooooo bored of the cliche vampire deal but this was original and bearable. The format of the book was also extremely different.

This is a short, quick read I would definitely recommend to readers who are keen on vampire hunting and young adult reads.
First, why only 4-star? The book is divided into different perspectives which the author divides as Post #1, Post #2 etc and Chapters. It can get a little confusing. Again, I'm sure there are other ways to come up with dividers but this is a matter preference and does not reflect on the author's fascinating storytelling.

Good short read. The story grabs you from the moment when the little girl with the worms on her face come in to the story and does not let you want to put it down till you finish. Something different in this book are the blog entries it works for the story. Dasheen aka Angel, is the older of the two siblings that are left orphaned when their parents disappear. They are sent to a school for kids whose families are under financial strain until the parents get back on their feet but no one would be...more

Sleep all day, school at night. Sounds good to me.
15 year old Angel's supernatural problems begin on her birthday, October 31st, yep Halloween as luck would have it. This is the first time she has the disconcerting vision of the little girl with wriggling worms in place of where her face should be, some kind of portent of bad events to come. After the mysterious disappearance of her parents, Angel (her real name is a lot fancier: Dasheen Bellamy) enrols in Ame Academy, a wicked looking Gothic-st...more

3 1/2 stars.
This is a novella. I wanted to start out by saying that because it got a lot of poorer ratings for being "short" and it's meant to be short. It's a novella.
So with that being said, I am intrigued by the information that Cornwell-Jordan packed into this novella. We meet Dasheen, a teenager who has visions that leave her comatose, hospitalized, and parentless. Her and her brother, Jordan, start attending Ame' Academy - a mysterious school full of a lot of weird characters. Dasheen star...more

This was a shorter read than I am used to but it was interesting and the blog format idea is definitely a first for me to read. Dasheen and her brother Jordan are sent to Ame Academy as they are alone...her father and stepmother have gone missing and no one knows what happened to them or who did it....although many think Dasheen may have done something but can't remember.

Kudos and my hats off to you Michelle! You have packed alot of punch and excitement into just a mere 56 pages and I could not stop reading for a minute! I am very excited to continue on with this series! The little girl that haunts Dash/Angel has me intrigued and I only wish I could have learned more about her as well as Rafael. I can't wait to find out what happened to Dash's parents and how she comes to have special powers.

This book is just a short story that is part of a series. I think it set it up perfectly for you to be intigued enough to read on. This book is written in "Angel's" pov in the form of a blog journal. I do think this left a few holes in the story, but was an interesting way to write a book. Angel tells a little of her story and what led up to her becoming a Hunter, and how she discovered she is one, when she and her brother, Jordan, are se...more

i have enjoyed reading this book for several reasons, some of these reasons are:
1)it is brief, i read it in and hour or two and made me feel guilty-free compared to reading a book for 7 hours and not doing my homework or studying for my test the next day, like it usually happens for me in other book :D
2) lots of characters with diverge personalities, i enjoyed learning a bit of a background of most of the characters rather than just focusing on just the main characters. also, each character seem...more

Dasheen Bellamy has had quite a few troublesome years. The night of her birthday, October 31, she collapsed and didn't awaken til much later. The night her parents disappeared, her in the room and blood on the floor, the same ordeal happened but for much longer. Eventually, because her parents are MIA, she and her younger brother Jordan must dorm at Ames Academy where everything is not as it seems.

Night School Vampire Hunter by Michelle Cornwell-Jordan was a quick read, weighing in at approximately 62 pages, so I'm not going to summarize the book further than the synopsis. Though short, Night School Vampire Hunter is an excellent, well-written read. Each section is written to look like blog entries. I really enjoyed getting insight into all the different characters and the way they felt. Michelle Cornwell-Jordan also has a different approach to the paranormal and it kept me reading til th...more
I loved everything about this book. It was so cool and different to see how things work through the eyes of the vampire hunter. It made it more than just a normal vampire read. Dasheen was such a cute character and so kick butt. She didn't take anything from anybody and stood up for what she thought was right. I loved the world building for the Night School also. It just seemed so mysterious and mystical. The words flowed well and the plot was well written. I read this book all in one sitting an...more
The book was a little too short and needed more details. I liked the blog style though so I understand why it wasn't as detailed as it could be. The character Dasheen seem a little too unbelievable, she finds out about vampires and it doesn't seem to phase her at all. I know I'd be at least a little freaked out or shocked or have some reaction. Dasheen didn't seem to react at all, it was like "meh". Her reactions to almost everything was kind of "meh" which is hard to believe. I would like to kn...more
