It’s about relationships of all kinds; friends, co-workers, family, and yes, lovers. This book will make you think, it will make you feel, and it will absolutely make you crave the next one.

Jon “Tin Tin” Carlisle is a captain in the U S Air Force. He’s also independently wealthy and not afraid to use it or show it. He flies F16′s and works in a training department with people who are closer to him than his family. To most of the world he seems like an arrogant playboy but his friends know better. He has a difficult relationship with his parents and because of this he doesn’t think he’s cut out for anything long term.

Heather Morris is a junior partner in an accounting firm. She grew up in a military household where there was little money for anything extra. She hit her teens with a vengeance and rebelled horribly. Luckily she lived to tell about it and she also repaired her relationship with her parents. But, the scars from that time run deep and she’s always afraid of falling back into that self destructive pattern.

These two characters are so different, yet so alike. They are also completely fascinating. Jon is such a contradiction; he tries to act aloof and non-caring but when it comes down to it, he’s the guy you call when you need help. He will always have your back through thick and thin and while he might give you a hard time about it, he does it from the heart. I love that despite his upbringing he really isn’t pretentious and he’s pretty down to earth. He’s loyal to a fault, he never lies, but yet he doesn’t ever tell the people that mean the most to him how he feels. Heather is smart and although she trusts Jon pretty much from the start, she doesn’t engage her emotions. She’s closed herself off because of her past and while she shares her body wholeheartedly with Jon, that’s all she allows him. She loves making him smile and lose control, something he prides himself on.

However, neither one will admit how much the other means to them. There is a lot and I do mean a lot of sex in this book. These two set the sheets, wall, window, coat closet, and basically ever other surface on fire. To be honest it wasn’t until I was finished with the book that I even realized how much sex these two really had because every encounter went to further the story, it wasn’t just sex for the fun of sex. Their encounters are very telling about who they are and what they both need.

Despite the sex, the verbal sparring, and even though these two are closed off this was still a very emotional book. I was completely drawn into it but it wasn’t only because of the relationship between Jon and Heather it was because of their relationships with their friends and family. The scene where these two finally get it together is one emotional mine field and I’ll warn you now, keep some tissues nearby because you’ll need them. Engaging characters, witty dialog, outrageous bets, and down and dirty sex that will leave you wishing for the same makes Inside Bet a must read book. The fact that this book is written by two different women under the pen name of Katie Porter astounds me; it’s that seamless, that flawless, and that flippin’ good!(less)

Jon "Tin Tin" Carlisle appears to be nothing more than an arrogant jackass that tosses around the family name for fun and enjoys playing with women, never taking anything seriously except his piloting career and his very close-knit group of friends. Then he meets Heather, and one night of naked fun times turns his world upside down. Jon's used to being in control and Heather keeps him on his toes. The problem is that Heather is also used to being in control. A former bad girl that nearly flamed out at a young age, she does everything in her power to stay in control of things and that means that everything between her and Jon has to be casual and stay between the sheets, because if she lets her guard down and falls for him, what happens when (there's no 'if' in her mind) he doesn't catch her? The back and forth angst between the two was incredible. They both felt the same raw need for each other but for their own reasons were afraid to take the first step and admit that what they had was more.

Katie Porter buckles you in and takes you on a ride with her characters that is so real that you'll feel each up and down, each heartbreak, each success, as if they were your own.

The book is jam packed with sex. The kinkier the better. Anal? You bet. Breath play? Oh yeah. Toys? Holy crap yes (PS, hot, hot, hot scene!!!!!). And that's not everything! But there's nothing gratuitous in the books. There isn't one scene that you'll feel like *meh* she could have left out. Hell no. There's no wasted words in this book, it's a tightly written incredible story about two very different people and what happens when grea sex and superficial pleasantries aren't enough anymore. But it's a hard fought lesson. I highly HIGHLY recommend picking up the first book in the series if you haven't read it already because it's just that good. But this one is amazing in its own right and I can't wait to read the next book!(less)

The erotism in this novel is exquisite, vivid and daring. What begins as a one night stand escalates into a series of adventurous encounters that include D/s play. These two challenge each other with dares and as the stakes and danger increase Jon and Heather push each other’s sexual boundaries to the limit. What I loved was the power exchange, Jon is a Dom but Heather is strong and adventurous during their interludes, she also enjoys taking control and there is a scene where she is shown as a switch. Their affair is addictive, but there is a line drawn, there will be no strings, no commitment. Both Heather and Jon have significant relationship commitment issues and neither has any intention of giving their heart to the other. Famous last words.

She chose her words carefully. “Whereas you believe your self-control is beyond reach.”

He chuckled. “You want me to lose control?”

“No,” she whispered. “I want to make you lose it.”

Heather and Jon’s love story is emotional and complex and through stellar sensual prose and dialogue I was kept completely entranced. These people have painful secrets and vulnerabilities that are masked by well sculpted outer shells. The climax of their story tore at my heart strings. However, the novel’s emotional intensity is well balanced with laugh out loud sarcasm between the protagonists and secondary characters who are all extremely well-drawn and I loved sin city as the setting.

Inside Bet offers a fast-paced relationship driven story that isn’t overburdened with aerial maneuvers or technical information regarding the nature of Jon’s flying with the Aggressor Squadron. There is great camaraderie between Jon’s teammates and two closest friends and the author(s) builds the background for book 3 of their Vegas Top Guns Series, Captain Leah “Princess” Girardi’s story, Hold ‘Em, due out September 25th. And trust me Leah is a real weapon. lol

When I was half way through Inside Bet I downloaded Book 1 of the series but didn’t feel disadvantaged by not reading Double Down first, in fact I can’t wait to read it. Inside Bet is a toe curling rush and if you like a hot erotic D/s themed read you may like to give it a try.(less)

After reading the first book I was really looking forward to Jon's story and I'm not disappointed! I usually go for the straight out bad boys but Jon is so different than that. He's rich and cultured and so very arrogant but some how it's still charming when paired with that killer sense of humor and a hidden sweet side. And come on, a fighter pilot, that's intriguing itself. ;) It just worked for him and made me love him all the more. Heather was a great female lead character. In fact she has to be one of my all time favorite female characters. On the outside she's all business but on the inside she's a sexy bad girl just waiting to come out and play. And the two of them together, talk about some of the hottest sex scenes I have EVER read...and let me tell you, I've read a lot! The chemistry between the two is explosive, especially with their little game of dares and when they finally get to that make it or break it point, well it's pretty much the sweetest one I've read in a while!

It was great to see the other characters again in this one. Ryan and Cass from the first book and Leah, who is quite the train wreck, who will be in the next book. I'm anxious to read Leah's book to find out what becomes of her. It'll be nice to see her get a happy ending too.

Overall this is a sexy, entertaining and refreshing read, as I implied more than once, I haven't read a book I liked this much in a while. I give this book 5 Moons and recommend it to fans of Military Romance and Erotic Romance. It's definitely a must read and take it from me, you won't regret it! It'll have you so hot you'll have to have more! :)(less)

I couldn't get into Jon's story as easily as I did Ryan's (Double Down). I just wasn't able to connect with the characters as well, which was somewhat disappointing as I was really intrigued with Jon's character in the first book. So the story did move painfully slow for me and it was because of that lack of connection. But despite that, Inside Bet was an enjoyable read full of hot and edgy love scenes, and the ending was beautifully written. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, H...more

Gah! I loved this book so much! Seriously, I can’t tell you how hot it was…it’s something you need to discover for yourself. When I first got asked to review this one I hesitated because I had never heard of this author and I hadn’t read the first book in the series. I thought Inside Bet was going to be more nov...more Gah! I loved this book so much! Seriously, I can’t tell you how hot it was…it’s something you need to discover for yourself. When I first got asked to review this one I hesitated because I had never heard of this author and I hadn’t read the first book in the series. I found out that Katie Porter is actually two authors in disguise….Carrie Lofty and Lorelie Brown are tag teaming and writing together to produce some of the sexiest words I’ve ever read.

I thought Inside Bet was going to be more novella length but ladies this is full length with enough sexy scenes to wear down your mechanical boyfriends batteries! Jon is so stoically sexy. Full of himself to the highest order and sure he can get with the buttoned up woman he spies sitting at a table alone at a wine tasting. What he finds in Heather isn’t a buttoned up ANYTHING, but a woman looking to go just a bit wild. Their attraction ignites instantly and the they drawn into a games of high stakes dares where the winner gets to call the shots on every desire or whim they find appealing.

What starts out as simple sexual fun…and by simple I mean kinky mckinkerston…turns into a game of control quickly. Jon is used to calling all the shots and being able to walk away cleanly in the morning. He finds that Heather calls to him on some primal level. He craves her more with every kinktastic episode they play out. Loved Jon, loved loved loved him! He was so arrogant in the beginning, and while I feel I should have found it horrible…I found him so sexy instead. Seriously, I kept saying “what the hell Nikki, he’s an ass….” then I’d talk back to myself and say “yeah, but he’s a GOD in bed….” Lucky for me Jon turned out to be less of an ass once he slowly started opening up….and this isn’t real life. One softy spoken french word from Jon and I was a goner. I am an accent whore.

Heather was a harder sell for me. I understood her reluctance to associate with a relationship because of her past, but only up to a point. Most of me wanted her to just move on. She had a bad experience, a really bad one, I get that and so she has worked really hard to remain in control of herself ever since. But why deny yourself the opportunity to flourish in a relationship? Why not at least TRY? Even after Jon slowly starts to open up about his own murky past, she keeps pushing him away. It got a bit tiresome after a while. It’s like having a friend that keeps screwing up and eventually it’s exhausting for you to be there to pick up the pieces….that’s what my connection with Heather felt like. Jon has a friend in this book that was exactly like that too. I wonder if the authors did that on purpose.

I wish the conflict would have been pushed further then Heathers inability to let go of her strong armed control. There was great opportunity to involve the cocky pilot in Jon’s classes that could have been played up. It was all set up and then nothing came of it so I feel that missed the mark a bit. Maybe there will be more on that in the next book, but left as is, it felt uncompleted.

Really…story aside….the sex….was…..HOT. And as a side note, the first book I have ever read that hit on asphyxiation fetishes. I put the book down somewhere in the middle after a particularly hot scene, turned to hubs and said “I need a fighter pilot to have sex with me on the hood of an Aston Martin, you know…..for research” I mean, how can I know if what I just read is possible? I should check it out so I don’t look like a dumbass in my review. It should be noted that hubs is used to me asking him how hot things would get and if it would be possible to have sex on it comfortably.

I’m off topic, read Inside Bet and don’t blame me when you need new batteries.

I really liked this second story in this series.
Jon and Heather were perfect together and sweet mercy, could these two put the kink in kinkaliscious.
I loved that Heather was older (5 years), but it never was a factor in their relationship and in fact they never even talked about it.
I enjoyed seeing Ryan and Cass from the first book and wanted to kick Leah's butt and was happy to see she was finally getting it together at the end of this story. Leah's story is next so I am anxious to see what mak...more

Here's what I love about Katie Porter books: incredibly hot sex with motive. Sex doesn't happen in a vaccum, and neither does chemistry. Getting into the characters' heads is where the fun really is for me -- and it's what separates the average writer from the gifted author. You can tell how much craft went into the writing of this series because of the depth of its characters, and even when the characters' kink isn't particularly my own (as in book 3), I find that I love it anyway.

I knew the writing would be HOT, but what surprised me was how much I liked Jon. In the previous book he's a rich, playboy with a smart attitude, but behind that ass-hole exterior he's very loyal to his friends, so I knew there was something more to him, but I never thought I would have connected with him like I did. Now I have to admit to being a little out of my depth here. So, in the past I’ve played around a bit, the odd short story, novella, a Harlequin Blaze or two. But this is the first time I’ve gone all the way…with a full length novel in this genre. But when a review copy lands in my inbox what's an avid reader to do.

The heroine is uptight accounting high flyer Heather Morris, still trying to live down the mistakes of her teen years though she's approaching 32. When she meets the genuine high flying article, F16 Pilot Jon Carlyle, it seems fate has handed her an opportunity to let her wild child out for a brief, very controlled fling. The cool cynical 26 year old, with his unlimited trust account and an Alpha Romeo, is definitely not safe, and Heather needs safe for the long haul.

So, let get down to it. After a few chapters of very sexy, witty and er...stimulating...foreplay we see that Heather does indeed have a very wild side and Jon is the perfect guy to play with. Yet just as I was starting to think, am I gonna be able to cope with another 200 pages of this level of heat, Katie Porter took things to a whole new level. I already liked the characters, but suddenly I was noticing a lot more going on. Yup, sure enough this was turning into a love story. As unlikely as it seemed at first sight these two have a lot to offer each other.

The development of the relationship really starts to take off when life offers a few hiccups to what was to be a, shall we say,'just mind blowing sex', kind of deal. Not that there wasn't a lot of sex. Interesting, tilt your head to the side with a puzzled expression sex. Steamy hot, burn the eyeballs sex. Some of that um...kinky sex. But all of it was part of the story sex. Part of the development of the relationship sex. It was explicit in places, enough to make me a little, maybe sometimes a lot, uncomfortable, but not distastefully so.

The story itself captured my interest right from the start. The dialogue is clever, funny in places, and shows the development of the relationship nicely. The characters didn't take long to engage me, and become emotionally invested in the outcome. This is a romance so the HEA is a given, in this case it was a very satisfying and believable outcome. I hope in book 3 we get to see how they are going.

It reads well as a stand alone though you do meet the characters from the first book, Jon's flight teammate Ryan and his girl Cass and the heroine of the third book, another Top Gun Pilot 'Princess' Leah.

I gave this book four stars because though parts of it were not to my personal taste I did enjoy it very much in the context of the genre.(less)

This book was a complete surprise. Both this book and the first one were incredibly steamy, but this one brought angst to the table that gave this story a depth that really hooked me into the story.

Heather was a good heroine. I always like a heroine who doesn’t have sexual hang-ups in erotica and she is a woman who seems to have the no limits when it comes to sex. I was a little surprised at just how much trust she places in Jon, but once hearing about her background, I realised that it fit her character well. Heather is a woman with a past and some of those past decisions nearly got her hurt. Ever since then she has bundled up these feelings and desire behind a boring suit and refused to acknowledge the woman she once was. Something about Jon brings this sexually adventurous woman to the forefront once more. The fact that he was willing to give as he got made this a more explosive relationship.

Jon is a man who lives very very fast. He spends money like it goes out of fashion, sleeps with hoards of women and flies a jet plane. Basically, he is a very very bad man. But that side to Jon seems to be the face he’d like everyone to see, hiding what he is underneath. There are multiple examples of just how far he will go far for his friends or anyone else he cares about. He will go to any lengths to make sure they are safe and well; I loved him. He expects his liaison with Heather to go the way that they all do but her total inhibition with him lead to them spending the weekend together, pushing each other’s limits to the max.

This book is SEXY. Seriously. With a capital S. It covers (in no particular order) bondage, blindfolding, spanking, anal sex, anal play (M and F), exhibitionism, sex-toys, masturbation, voyeurism and finally autoerotic asphyxiation. Now I mention this final one because I thought it was done very very well and this is a sexual practice I have seen written very bad. There is established trust, a safe gesture and complete control; bravo to both the authors involved in this because this done badly would make me DNF a book based on a heroine being TSTL.

I loved the sense of camaraderie that underlines these books. Tin-Tin, Princess and Fang are all present again in this book along with a few more of the squadron. I like that they are each other’s family. I love that they have been through war together and have come out the otherside with a friendship that has no limits or boundaries. I like that, in each book, the heroine has had to face the real possibility that the man they are in a relationship may one day fly in war again. I just like the whole thing. Can’t wait for Princess’s book....

This book was a revelation to me. Hot, sexy, angsty and completely naughty... it had me reaching for the ice-bucket at several points *fans*(less)

While I liked this book a lot, and thought life in the military was pretty realistically portrayed, I thought Porter wimped out a little on the sex. It started out pretty edgy (I thought) but ended up fairly vanilla. Both characters were likable and complemented each other and interaction between secondary characters was great. 3.5 stars.

I loved book 1 of this series and had heard good buzz about the new duo of Katie Porter, so I didn't hesitate to pick up book 2. It was so good. Intense, amazing characters. Hot, hot sex. And a resolution that made me cry and make that "good book" sigh.

I couldn't get into Jon & Heather's story. I loved Jon aka Tin Tin in first book but hated the heroine throughout entire story.

It is hard to give 3.5 stars to a book where people poured time into it but this one did nothing for me, fell asleep.
