**This is the prequel novella to The Beast.**

Boredom can be a dangerous thing. Lord Bastien Sauvage has been driven nearly out of his mind with it, retired to his castle in the country. By now, he is willing to agree to anything for some entertainment, no matter how ridiculous it may seem. With his trusted friend at his side, there is no mischief they can’t get into, or tr

What do tarot cards, the fae and a hag have to do with Beauty and The Beast? We first met Lord Bastien Sauvage in Alianne Donnelly's "The Beast". "Bastien" tells the tale of exactly how the beast came to be cursed although to be honest I'm not so sure that it wasn't The Beast who was cursed into being Bastien. I'd read the first installment of this series "The Beast" so I was familiar with Bastien and totally prepared to continue wanting to kick him in the nuts in "Bastien". However, that was no ...more

I really enjoyed this inventive prequel to the Beauty and the Beast story, as reimagined by Alianne Donnelly. The writing is beautiful, and I found myself getting easily swept away in Ms. Donnelly's tale. I loved her interpretation of Bastien Sauvage, otherwise known as the man who would become the Beast. He is an unrepentant rake in the very best way, in that even when he is at his worst, the reader still falls in love with him. I actually found myself wishing the story were longer, and that I ...more

Bastien is a sequel to The Beast. After I read The Beast, I really want to know how Lord Bastien got cursed by faery daughter. I found this awesome story and I really loved it.

The idea and twist to the Beauty and the Beast was good, however it was hard to read the writing and hold my attention...

Alianne is an avid lover of stories of all kinds. Having grown up with fairy tales in a place where it almost seemed they were real, it was no surprise when she began making up her own stories. She loves books, music, hiking, and archery, and won't shy away from travel and zip lining. Alianne graduated with a business degree and when she's not off in the land of fantasy, she lives in California.
