I enjoyed the book, even though I'm not normally a fan of vampire novels. This had more story and less vampire (and no one sparkled!) He recernces to slavery and the dialect didn't bother me as it did some other people. The alternative history aspect was a nice touch. I'll probably try to read the rest of the series.

I was pleasantly surprised at this one. After I slowly got through the prologue it picked up and I couldn't put it down. A different era for vampires with an interesting twist. I will read the next book!
