This book was terribly short. It was like one minuet I was really enjoying and getting into it and then it's over, bam, finished.

The end was majorly disappointing, it just makes me question the whole point and significance if the book.

This was a rather odd free short story. I hope it is not real. I only say that because it got you to understand the male brain a little better and if that is how truly guys act then I am appalled. (I really didn’t expect less, actually) There is this group of guys – losers – who literally scope out the female gender at their high school. They look at how round their breasts are, how their hips curve and even how they smell. It is pretty creepy if you think about it, but guys are creepy like that...more

Amy is the new girl - the one who knows nothing of her new classmates' lives and who can be a fresh start. David sees all sorts of possibilities with Amy. She's so special to him that when his friends decide to compete for her attentions and seduce her, David panics inside. He is determ...more

Oh the Possibilities of Amy, how I deeply enjoyed this book. I would say for me it describes that moment, in life, where you leave childish things behind; where you leave your innocence and find the courage to venture forward into something new.

I have to say, I loved the blunt honesty in this book……and the fact that I was laughing throughout most of it. It is hilarious, the way these boys act and Dave has the most amazing ability with sarcasm. I do believe the bathroom scene had me laughing t...more

This book shares the natural response of emotions wrapped up in a young men and ladies as they explore new found territory. The author discusses how three boys in particular spend a good portion of their senior year looking for the next conquest on their list. She also describes a young lady by the name of Amy who just moves to the town and school. She is soon the object of these three young men and they are bidding for her attention.
As they soon find out she is just passing through from one tow...more

This is a fantastic read. The story is short but has plenty packed in. I read this book in one sitting as I could not put it down!

The story is told from David's point of view, David becomes completely besotted with Amy. The problem is Amy is an eye catcher and a group of David's friends also are attracted to her and talk of what they plan to do to her.

David is quite a sad character to read about and I am sure most people can relate to his pain of being besotted with somebody.

David is genuinel...more

In a cunningly authentic male voice, Jaye Frances kept me smiling—and sometimes wiping away a tear— throughout this very funny and blatantly honest story about David, a shy, seventeen-year-old high school senior who has fallen in love with Amy, a beautiful new transfer student who doesn’t know he’s alive. It’s a book of firsts—first love, first heartache, and first-time sex—with all the expectations, disappointments, and bittersweet memories-in-the-making that made it difficult to give this book...more

You would never know that The Possibilities of Amy was written by a female. Jaye Frances captures the inside of a teenage boy’s mind to a tee.

This story definitely brings back high school memories. Everyone has that special “someone” that they admired from afar. The fear of gaining the courage to speak to them, to smile at them, and the fear of not being noticed plays throughout David’s mind. Everyone has been in this situation before, even if they don’t want to admit it. A first crush forever...more

What I found very interesting about this book was it was told in a guy's point of view. If you always wanted to know what a teen boy is thinking, well here you go.

David has a crush on the new girl and would give anything to ask her out but the problem is he is too shy too. Then there is his friends who really just want to see if they can get a homerun with her. At this point I felt sorry for both David and Amy.

As for Amy, you don't really find out too much about her until middle towards the en...more

The Possibilites of Amy is a short story of a boy's (Dave) obsession for a girl he doesn't even know. Amy is the new girl that all the guys want, but Dave and his friends have a plan to get. But Dave starts to fall in "love" with this ideal he's built in his mind and when his friends plans for Amy become crude, he'll do anything to save her from them. But once Dave gets to know Amy, he discovers that the ideal doesn't always live up to expectations.

I don't really know what to say about The Poss...more

I loved the possibilities of Amy. It's more of an inside a man's mind short story than anything else. Boys who see a pretty girl, runs after her because she is a trophy. Amy and her family never stays in one place. She's tired of having to restart her life over and over, and just when she is about to settle down, her dad gets relocated somewhere else and of course they had to follow. David fell inlove with her the first time she walked in the room. His friends had no idea, so like every other gu...more

I read this novella for two reasons—one, curiosity and two, I needed a quick read to catch up on my Goodreads.com goal. LOL! Mission accomplished on the latter and the former certainly deserves a nod.

This novella is a coming of age story of sorts. It is interesting that it is told from a young male’s perspective, but is written by a female author. I read that the author has been complimented on her ability to capture the essence of the male teenage mind. Having never been one, I can neither sub...more

Dave thinks he's just fallen in love...with the new girl Amy. The moment he sees her, he knows she's the one for her. So when his friend Pete decides to make Amy his new conquest, Dave will be forced to step out of his comfort zone if he wants a shot at making her his.

I can honestly say I think the guys' behavior is pretty spot on. I used to be friends with mostly guys growing up, and although they typically tried to behave around me, I wasn't blind to all the sexual innuendos. A lot of teenage...more

I downloaded the book to read while taking a three-day weekend vacation and several times, had to force myself to put it down when my husband reminded me we were there to enjoy the resort, not just read. Jaye Frances yanked open the tightly-guarded door to male bonding rituals, and brought back a flood of forgotten memories about my own dating adventures. The main character, David, runs the gamut of emotions as he juggles his boastfully horny buddies in one hand, and his urgent male hormones in...more

A cleverly-written peek into the brain of the young, love-struck male. This story brought back all the frustration, tears, and excitement of high school romance. I was amazed at the author's authentic voice as she writes from such a masculine viewpoint. I completely forgot this was a woman writer. Although there are a few curse words, I didn't think the language was excessive, and in fact, passed the book to my 16-year-old daughter to read. (Which opened up a whole new dialogue for us - an unexp...more

With The Possibilities of Amy, the author has created an emotional time machine, transporting us back to high school, drive-in movies, and that first sexual experience. This was a fun read for me, especially as it rekindled memories of my own teen-age adventures. The dialog is amazing! I literally felt like I was eavesdropping on three seventeen year old guys whose lives were totally focused on how to increase their chances of scoring with the opposite sex. “Amy” held my attention from start to...more

Thought-provoking, poignant and interesting this story written in a male’s perspective is certainly unexpected.

“…I had not met her, yet she consumed my every waking hour.” The first line of this story grabs your attention, instantly taking hold and pulling you into an absorbing character-driven tale. Teenage romance is captured in this narrative that focuses on David, bringing a sense of nostalgia and high school years flooding back into my subconscious. Written by a female author I was most in...more

I received this book from the author for an honest review. To start, I really liked this story. The author can spin a great tale, and her male high school perspective is highly engaging. Her attention to details and character development are impressive. But, I wanted more. I felt it ended abruptly and left me hanging. The ending left me to my own creative devices to discern the characters motivations, which might have been the author’s intent, because I did give it a lot of thought. After the st...more

I got a copy for review in exchange for an honest review.

When I was asked to review this book I accepted because it sounded like a good read. Also I am trying to read a few more chick lits lately and this sounded like an interesting one told from a male perspective. Too bad this wasn’t a book for me, I didn’t enjoy it.

First I have to say that this book is more like a short story. It is really short and whit that I mean 60 pages short. I have read so called short stories that are longer than this...more

This book is classified as YA however it is definitely an older YA book. Some would say it would fall in the New Adult category. The Possibilities of Amy is a fascinating read. I give the story 4 stars.

The thing I found refreshing on the story was the fact that the story was written from the male POV instead of the female. I liked that David seems like a few of the guys in my old high school. It wasn’t a boy meets girl and everything is perfect story.

Even though the story is short I felt I got...more

This was a coming of age story about a guy in his senior year of high school who feels the pressure of never having been out with a girl, but he secretly dreams about the new girl at school. His buddies are talking about their own dismal failure to make it through the rites of passage to manhood and have decided that the new girl, Amy, will be their big opportunity. The pressure is now on for David to find a way to get to her first before his horny buddies mess things up good.

I felt a little let down at the end, with Amy's outcome/location not revealed.

This was a rather good glimpse into the teenage boy psyche and what they put emphasis on when looking at girls. Albeit, the whole thing was a little too short. Still, a poignant look at a moment in time in the life of a teenage boy.

Well written, with good character development for such a short story.
