Lady Emmeline of Nachtholm left home as a young girl - certainly not of her own volition. Her parents put her in Ottevar Asylum so they could “cure” her of what they viewed as an affliction. The story begins with her on her way home after her parents’ death after 8 years being away. When she returns home she finds a man, Rainart Eckhard, who claims he has been running the manor in the interim. However he is quite adamant that he is not leaving, and that he is the lord of the manor, and she is no...more

Fans of Gothic romance will rejoice with this quick read.

I'm not usually a fan of mystery. It's not because I don't like it, it's that I'm just too curious for my own good. Yes, I'm that person that will read the last chapter of a book so I don't have to bite my nails the whole time. I'm bad, I know.

Shadow Cursed was absolutely the right length for my curious heart. I fell in love with the characters quickly and was fascinated with unraveling their quirks. Rainart Eckhard's was so delightfully...more

When Emmeline comes home to Nachtholm Manor after eight years in an insane asylum, she doesn’t expect it to be occupied by a mysterious man who claims Nactholm is his. She’s even less pleased to discover than underneath her justified outrage lies a persistent attraction to this abrasive man, Rainart Eckhard.

I liked the atmosphere of this story. The contrast between the Manor and the village was well-drawn; I could feel Emmeline’s relief at being out in the sunlight and open air. It also made me...more

My Thoughts:

Wow! Fans of Gothic and Paranormal Romance hold on to your seats... This is one hell of a quick read you can't miss.

With only 50 pages this is a fast read that you can easily read in two hours butShadow Cursed is absolutely the right length and worth your time! You have plenty of time to get a good world building and to fall in love with the characters.Emmaline's was for me a small strong heroine in this book with manny hidden layers that I would like to read more about later! Lady Emmeline has returned home from an asylum after her parents' deaths. But there's a new inhabitant: Rainart, who has assumed the role of the manor's Lord. But who the bloody hell is he? In a book Emmeline finds, the only Rainart mentioned is really old. Certainly dead by now, or is he? Shadow Cursed's title is a spoiler.

Not much plot here, certainly not enough to fill fifty pages, which are padded out with a romance that just doesn't work, probably because neither main character is particula...more

Naomi Clark lives in Cambridge and is a mild-mannered office worker by day, but a slightly crazed writer by night. She has a perfectly healthy obsession with giant sea creatures and a preference for vodka-based cocktails. When she's not writing, Naomi is probably either reading or watching 80s cartoon shows, and sometimes she manages to do all three at once.
