Love a story with a strong woman who knows her own mind. When Lissy meets Nick on holiday she decides to have a fling with him, no strings attached. I easily found myself lost in the beautiful descriptions of the settings that Annie Seaton developed. She has a way with words that make you feel you are in the setting with her characters, even to the stage where I was cursing Nick to hurry up and stop stringing Lissy along. The premise of Holiday Affair sounded like a delightful read: warm sandy beaches, sizzling hoiliday romance, a rational academic heroine and a roguish charming hero, I thought I’d just need a cocktail to feel like I was on vacation. But sadly the characters drove me up the wall almost as soon as their vacation came to an end and though I persevered and gave it several chances, after 70% I was just so frustrated with Lissy (and Nick) that I waved them goodbye.

Lissy is heart broken at her Grandpa's passing. She goes on a short holiday to try to get herself, along with her thoughts, back together before she gets back to work. In her holiday she meets a handsome wanna be sailor, who sings to her. The enchantment only lasts until she discovers his deceit, then she plays him at his own game only to prove him wrong.

Nick is on his way back home. He needs to finish his research paper as soon as possible so he can go back to the field. He's a total player. He's been broken hearted twice, and is not about to make the same mistake for a third time. His mind is about to change when he crosses paths with Lissy.

It turns out the strangers, both Lissy and Nick, were to each other on the last night of their holiday, can be strangers no more. Destiny has other plans for them, and what plans those are. Then they have Tom, Nick's brother to deal with as well.

Overall, Holiday Affair is a very sweet romance. It is full of emotion. Nick and Lissy do not believe in love; they don't want to believe in love, rather. Yet, they know there is more to the physical attraction they feel for each other. Lissy wants to try a relationship, even if it is limited to sex only. Nick wants to have a relationship, but he knows it won't be limited to sex only, and he doesn't want to lose his heart, yet again to another woman.

Tragedy strikes, and both Nick and Lissy are forced to make hard decisions that will determine their future, consequently.

Again, this is a very sweet and touching romance, perfect for a Friday night or a weekend read.

Holiday Affair by Annie Seaton

This is the first book I’ve read by Annie Seaton and I do have to say she is one damn great author. Her descriptions made me want to go on a holiday on a sail boat and find my own sailor. Annie writing is good the story flows extremely well and I have to say I really enjoyed Holiday Affair.

In this story, Lissy is on a holiday of sorts, traveling after laying her grandfather to rest, when she meets the good looking, but arrogant, Nick. From the start, there is chemistry between them, but their relationship starts off pretty rocky. However, they succumb to a liaison, neither expecting to see the other again. As it turns out, Nick is the new professor assigned to work in Lissy's department at the university, and they share the same cottage. Both want to deny their relationship, but the attraction proves too strong.

The main storyline of A Holiday Affair is the tumultuous relationship between Lissy and Nick. Both characters have issues and hang ups to overcome, and they drive each other (and the reader) a little crazy with their constant hot and cold. Nick is especially bad about his hesitation. On one hand, he is hot for Lissy and wants her, but on the other, he is adamant about not having a relationship. But, both Lissy and Nick manage to learn and grow through the book and I kept reading, and hoping that they would both get it together.

I really liked the Australian setting in A Holiday Affair, it's different and beautiful at the same time. The islands and beach settings provide a romantic backdrop for the romance, even if the lovers in the story don't always realize it.

The romance in this book was very believable. The hang ups that the characters felt were easy to identify with and understand, even if they were irritating at times. I was pleased with how the story wrapped up, but there were a few loose ends, namely, whatever happened with Lissy's mother. I would have liked a little bit more development there, but I am still happy and content with the story as a whole.

With A Holiday Affair, Annie Seaton has written a believable, enjoyable romance. A Holiday Affair is a book that I would qualify as a "beach read." Readers who enjoy stories that explore characters fears and hesitations in relationships will like this book. As an enjoyable read, I give A Holiday Affair 3 stars.

His plan seemed solid until an encounter with a mysterious woman while on holiday leaves him confused and shaken his belief that love doesn’t exist for him. His brief respite lasts only as long as it takes for him to go home where the mystery woman has not only dazzled his family, but firmly implanted herself in his life as both neighbor and research assistant. Nick craves a physical relationship with Lissy, but trust has complicated everything and then there’s his brother to consider…

The beginning of the story is filled with coincidences for this couple, so the set-up for the rest of the story is a bit predictable. The chemistry between Lissy and Nick is physically electrifying, but their stubborn personalities block any sort of relationship from forming. They both have the same idea that they are compatible in the ‘love’em and leave’em’ department, but deep down they don’t really believe what they say to each other. Instead of acknowledging the truth, they let the past or someone else’s mistakes define them and hide behind bitter personas full of contradiction. Overall, it made connecting with both characters a bit difficult. The secondary characters are interesting and left me wanting to learn more about them.

The ending came about rather rushed and little unresolved considering all the mixed emotions and commitment issues both Lissy and Nick have. Although lacking in heat and dramatic flair, it is enjoyable for contemporary romance readers looking for a story of a one-night stand gone wrong and then eventually made right.

I really loved the first half of this book. The introduction to the main characters and their chemistry was great - I was excited to read what would happen when they returned to their "real world" lives and were forced to work together. This book is filled with twists and turns which make it hard to stop reading. Lissy is very relatable and engaging, and Nick is HOT and charismatic.

I also enjoy it because it's fast-paced, and the first chapter had me at the edge of my seat. The characters seem real... they are flawed, which I like. She's still hurt because of the loss of her grandfather, which is something we all can relate to. Now, this book was very conflicting to me. I found that I liked aspects of it like the basic concept and potential of characters, but overall I didn't find that it captured my attention. The dialogue was in some parts of the story awkward, and a little wishy-washy. I also found it to be a little short, and felt that it could have been better if it had been drawn out a little longer. I liked the basic concept, but I wish it would have been executed a tad bit better.

Not a bad book in all. It did take me a while to get through, but I think that was mostly down to me not being in a reading mood.

The story progressed kind of slow for me but again this is possibly due to my reading slump. It has everything you need for a short book, there is love, there is family, there are cute animals, there's a nice old lady, a hot professor called Nick, a head strong albeit, frankly whiny heroine. It has all the ingredients for a great book, but it left me feeling unsatisfied, and I can't really put a finger on what it was. I felt Lissy was a cry baby. The way she treated Nick wasn't always fair to him, however the way Nick treated Lissy wasn't good either. I guess in a way they mesh together in that sense, but I find books frustrating when the two protagonists are arguing all the time and won't admit their feelings for each other. Eventually they do, but it takes a car accident to make them realise that.

The book is split between narratives of Lissy and Nick. This I enjoyed, I like having split narratives (providing they aren't too many). I found myself enjoying Nicks narrative far more than Lissy, more down to me finding Lissy annoying and whiny all the time. I always enjoy male narratives, it's always fun to get inside their heads and when it's split with the female narrative as well it always boads well to get a reaction out of the reader when both characters feel the same way but refuse to admit it, or deny it completely.

I found myself liking a lot of the secondary characters, mostly Nicks family. Nick comes from an Italian family and like myself I found it much easier to relate to him than I did to Lissy with regards to family. When reading the scenes with Nick's family you feel a sense of belonging, and this pretty much happens with Lissy, she's comfortable there which leads everyone to believe that's where she belongs.

Overall, it's not a completely bad read, I feel it's not one to get you out of a slump (if you're in one). Probably best to read it as a side book or to fill in some spare time. It's only 210 pages so providing you aren't in a slump and you enjoy the book I think it's one to whizz through.

I would definitely recommend it as a read, I wouldn't rush for it, but definitely give it a go. You may feel differently to me. I am looking forward to hopefully reading more in this. I have a sense that Nick's younger brother Tomas will be making an appearance in a future book.(less)

This Entangled release did not float my boat. The ending was too abrupt, and the protagonists both got on my nerves. I thought Nick was a jerk for trying to sabotage his brother's relationship with Lissy, and I thought that Lissy needed to grow a backbone and stand up for herself. I just wasn't convinced that they were a good match for each other, and worse, at times I didn't care if they ever got together.

Seriously I have a thing for epilogues and in individual novel I need an epilogue. I gave the book a four partially because of this. I wanted to see there makings of happily ever after. I mean seriously she did not even say I love you. I just wanted a "six months later" or something. This book does not appear to be in a series if it was than I could possible see no epilogue but just barely.

This is a good & predictable story. nothing out of the ordinary. But I couldn't connect with the characters, especially Nick. He confuses the hell out of Lizzy with his hesitation & withdrawal syndrome. Blowing hot & cold all the time. Lizzy is a staid and rational professor, but she acts irrationally most of the time whenever she is in Nick vicinity.

This story starts with a hot bodied sailor (Nick) and a staid professor (Lissy) in a romantic fling in an exotic location. Work, friends and family, and life in general conspire to keep the love birds apart. Each of them have hang-ups that keep them apart and they end up hurting one another when their hearts tell them otherwise. A great read.

I loved the romance at the beginning between Lizzy and Nick! Just why did he have to leave her like a one night stand. Did he actually think that could possibly help the situation? When they reunite, its a disaster waiting to happen. Lots of interest to see what happens next in this book, but it doesn't seem like enough action. I liked the added twist of having the brother interested in her but I wish it was more developed and thought out. It had so much possibility but just fell in the like cat...more

Lyrical writing and an adorable heroine. I loved seeing Lissy come out of her shell! Add to that spark and heat with a sexy hero who manages to radiate alpha while never being bossy or mean... All together a fantastic book!
