Ruth Schwartz , an overworked corporate attorney on an earlybird flight from New York to Chicago, slips in her earbuds and eases into her “airtrance” playlist when the music abruptly stops. God is speaking to her through the voice of Chris Martin. I want you to deliver a message to the Democratic Party.

Right. All Ruth wanted was to make it through her three-city day of cli

A short but powerful read, McLaren takes a humorous look at some of the problems with our current political landscape, beginning with the party that has long held itself to be progressive. Ruth is a lawyer from New York who hears God speak to her on a flight to Chicago. She is commanded to bring God's Word to the Democrats. What ensues is another fun e-book from Brian McLaren.

Writing about real issues in politics in form of fiction is not easy. Making it funny is even harder.

I don't think McLaren did a terribly bad job at either, yet the book leaves me a bit empty. Maybe it was because the story was still too serious. Maybe it was the fact that the characters weren't allowed to curse freely but used words such as "shat." Or maybe it's because I don't know enough about american politics to get the jokes...

Ever wonder why someone isn't saying the things that really need to be said? Or asking the right questions. Clearly Brian McLaren is...and does. Great book.

A hilarious short creative non-fiction by Mclaren spinning a tale of an American lawyer become profet in the middle of an election campaign. It's a must read.
