Lmao, no. The librarians on Goodreads always make me laugh with their pranks. I remember when they marked Veronica Roth's third book as DETERGENT. Nicely Photoshopped cover, though. xD.
I always purchase and finish book series I buy, as horrible as they may be (I need to quit the habit, though), so I'm lucky the librarians are messing around with us. But that fugly thing wouldn't go on my shelf for money, hehe.

Ok, not to be mean or anything... but i LOVED the first book. The cover was amazing too. But when I look at this cover, I'm like 'What?' Cuz you know what this reminds me of? the red queen in Alice in Wonderland. Seriously. I mean, I'm still going to read it... but... the cover is just really wierd.

Ok, well I found the first book quite confusing. The girl is half witch half vampire, and when she goes to school after she's told it just gets weirder from there. But I found it sweet when they had them both captured and she doesn't hurt him. However this new cover with no offence intended, is DISGUSTING! Please change it! The only reason I actually read the first book was because the cover attracted me and I'm one of those people who when you start a series you have to finish it.

The first few chapters sucked me in and really broke my heart. After that, I alternated between annoyed and pissed. I loved Savannah and Tristan in Book 1, but here, they were so pathetically whiny. This book felt long, and it just got more depressing and irritating the further I went. The only exciting part was the last two chapters, but even then, that was predictable.

Yes, I know that was the situation in Book 1, and I ate it up. But they were starting to figure it out, and even though the first book left us with a cliffhanger, I was hoping it would be resolved by now. I'm not sure how much more I can stomach.

But what I was guess was most irritating was the introduction of possible triangles and rectangles and however many sides you want to add the polygon. I mean, I know that Tristan isn't interested in Bethany, but come on, HOW DENSE can the boy be? And instead of being protective, he came across very possessive. And Ron? Darnell just kills me with what a possible mess this can be, especially with Anne.

And there were just little things that really bugged me. Does anyone else find it extremely weird that Sav's FATHER is the one giving her a makeover? I know that he's some super badass vampire, and she's a girl who doesn't really care about her appearance, and it's HIS money, but still. The book points out the absurdity of him picking out clothes for her and giving her an ultimatum, but I don't know about that one. And some of the scenes were just plain ridiculous like the demon dog or Savannah's reaction to her first encounter with a Keeper. Oh, the stupid things that came out of her mouth. I wanted to smack her.

And the story was really cheesy, really cliche, and really predictable. The high school drama and the fight with the jocks, Ron and his secret, Emily's sickness, the one behind it all at the end. There wasn't anything that surprised me, and I was more than ready for the book to end. Now, I just have to decide if I want to continue the series, and I'll just have to see.(less)

So I really wanted to like this book since it had so much potential. However it all went down pretty bad and landed in a pile of garbage. I think only because of my love of book 1 did I not give this a lower rating. Both Tristan and Ruby whine throughout the ENTIRE book. To top it off the ending was utterly depressing. Covet is an awesome book, but it sucks that I couldn't find this book for my phone. I bought it and it was a good book. Tristan and Savannah are separated because of the Vamp Council and the Descendants, do they struggle with their lives without one another. However, the treaty for both groups is shaken and now they deal with their dramas from the two groups. I enjoyed the story even though I have not yet read the first of the series. My teen daughter also enjoyed it, which in itself says a lot since we rarely agree on books. Sav comes to terms, somewhat, with having to protect Tristan from himself and their lives move forward making new friendships and strengthening old ones. Tristan is pretty smart and learns to “communicate” his feelings with Sav. She has to also deal with her transition into becoming a vampire, learning to control her hunger and other vampire traits with the assistance of her father and his maker. I did shutter somewhat at the thought of her dad going shopping for her, but it worked out. She also begins to explore her magical side with her grandmother’s help. In the end the combination gives her the ability to attain her true desire. The book ends with a cliffhanger, leading us into another story in this wonderful series.
This is a great story for teens who like the paranormal. A different twist on magic and vampires, it was a delight to read. I look forward to other stories written by Melissa Darnell and will be purchasing them for my teens.

So, I haven't read Crave, book 1 in The Clann Series, but I seriously loved Covet! Every page was filled with twists and turns, love and friendship, allies and enemies. Some of my intuitions were right, others were completely out of this universe.

I want to start by saying, Ms. Darnell created a group of multifaceted characters, both primary and secondary. Anne is one of the strongest female characters I've read about in a long time. Every page was filled with twists and turns, love and friendship, allies and enemies. Some of my intuitions were right, others were completely out of this universe.

I want to start by saying, Ms. Darnell created a group of multifaceted characters, both primary and secondary. Anne is one of the strongest female characters I've read about in a long time. She's a true friend to Savannah and the girl knows how to keep a secret. Ron is a protector and stands by Sav's side, regardless of his relationship mishaps with Anne. I'm interested to find out more of what happens to Emily in book 3, until then, I'll have to settle for knowing she holds some intrigue to her.

My first opinion of this book is that it is filled with parents trying too hard to protect their children from the truth while simultaneously pushing them into danger because they do not possess the knowledge, skills, or facts to protect themselves. The conclusion of the book did not alter my opinion one smidgen.

Tristan's family and the Clann refuse to allow him to see Savannah with "because we said so" as their reasoning. Okay, so Sav's half-vampire and Tristan knows it, what neither understand is why they're still being forced to abide by laws which are, quite literally, centuries old.

The vampire counsel tells Sav she must stay away from Tristan, but it's not until horrific events come to pass that she finds out exactly why. Luckily for her, she has her dad to help guide and protect her. Sav's father seems to be the only adult in the entire book who has half a clue. Her mother isn't too terrible, but best I can tell, she's spent nearly 17 years keeping Savannah from her destiny only to be completely blindsided by before mentioned horrific events.

I truly enjoyed the first half of the book, but when I reached the 50% mark, I was enthralled. It was a battle for me to put down the book and shut my eyes both nights. I loved Sav and her spunky attitude. She refused to skip school and let the Clann win. She embraced her vampire side, eventually, then she became empowered by her witchiness. Dylan and the Brat Twins became little more than annoying little flees to Sav, even without Tristan by her side.

Ms. Darnell certainly knows how to keep her readers' attention and throws more WTH moments than teenagers reading Shakespeare. Come on...everyone knows you don't appreciate the classics until you're much older. The pace picks up nicely toward the middle of the book, making it near impossible to put down. Tristan's and Savannah's thoughts are portrayed nicely through alternating first-person POVs. I always love seeing both sides of a story. Leaves less guessing on my part.

Covet picks up right where Crave left off. They are on the plane headed home from the vampire council where Savannah has promised to brake up with Tristan. This series is so well written and totally addictive.
This book kicks off straight after the ending in book 1. Tristan and Savannah are no longer a couple but they both still love each other, they hae to fight to stay apart and try to move on - some things just can't be, sometimes you have to face defeat, but matters of the heart are never that easy. Add in rival clans, Vampires, witches, descendants, Keepers and magic of all sorts it gets really tricky!
I got this book in Adobe Digital Editions which I couldn't get to work on my ipad which meant I had to read this on my laptop, as I am at work all day and out most evenings until 9.30, this meant my only reading time was quite late for this book, and it gave me a couple of late nights. I sat down the first night at 11:30 planning to read for half an hour and before you knew it, it was 1:30 in the morning and my eyes were starting to droop. But I couldn't pull myself away before then! I hadn't even noticed how long I had been there. I was completely and utterly lost in the book, once more walking alongside Savannah and Tristan.
There are quite a few sub-plots in this story too, but it doesn't get confusing, it just helps to keep the pace up and you know that somehow it will all come together in the end. Everything in this book is relevant, every detail has a purpose and leads you further into the story.
Savannah is definitely getting more kick ass and having to face up to her responsibilities and even face her Vampire powers, she has a few moments of sulkiness and the odd bit of whining, but mostly she is fierce and facing up to her troubles.
Tristan is still a little bit arrogant in places but you can tell how much he loves for Savannah and what he would do for her.
The characters all really grow up and have to face much more in this book and I am so excited for the next installment.
This series really is a treasure, excellent writing, brilliant characters, gripping storyline and beautiful covers! Definitely worth reading!(less)

Despite a screaming painful error (black cats which Savannah claims never to have heard of before book 2 but on pg 365 of book one mentions not once but twice) I was entranced by this book. I’m not sure what that says about me. My middle school students would LOOOVE this series. And my deepest thanks to the author (who I do not know) for minimizing the profanity, keeping it sensual enough to keep my young romantics captivated without making it too sexual for them. Cover Talk: I’m not going to lie…I don’t like it. The model’s expression is just….creepy. And again, I don’t understand why the model does not have epic red hair since Savannah is supposed to have red hair. It really bothers me.

But then she was forced to promise that she would stop seeing him and she found out that the Clann had kidnapped her Grandma because of Tristan's disappearance. But by the time she, her Dad and Tristan make it home it's too late for Sav's Grandma - she's died. Now the bloodlust-dampening spell that she used to cast on Savannah has also died with her, which means that she has to live with her Dad...more Savannah thought that once they got Tristan back from the Council everything would go back to normal. But then she was forced to promise that she would stop seeing him and she found out that the Clann had kidnapped her Grandma because of Tristan's disappearance. But by the time she, her Dad and Tristan make it home it's too late for Sav's Grandma - she's died. Now the bloodlust-dampening spell that she used to cast on Savannah has also died with her, which means that she has to live with her Dad now and her Mom is going on the road in an RV purchased from selling their house. To add to Savannah's misery and guilt, it turns out that the spell her Grandma was casting for her bloodlust requires a sacrifice and damaged her heart severly - it's possibly what killed her. Now to prevent a war between vampires and the Clann, Savannah must keep away from Tristan and not let anyone know that she's secretly teaching herself magic (which is against the rules). But will it be enough when murders of Clann members seemingly caused by vampires come to light? And what does Anne's ex-boyfriend Ron have to do with the Clann? This began right where the first book left off and for that I was grateful. It helped me remember what had been going on when it ended. I loved that Savannah was strong enough to keep her promise and truly understood the danger of her and Tristan being together. It gave me a lot of respect for her as a character that she understood the consequences of her actions and took responsibility for them. Tristan on the other hand, acted like a spoiled brat for half of the book. While Savannah was trying to deal with her growing bloodlust, friendship problems with balancing both Anne and Ron's time, dealing with her Grandma's death and losing her Mom to the road, she also has to deal with Tristan making things even harder for her. He is constantly shoving thoughts into her head once he realizes she can read his mind (memories of them, mental images of him with other girls, etc.) constantly begging her and trying to tempt her into getting back together with him. Plus he's stringing along another girl through almost the entire book and supposedly doesn't realize he's doing it...YEAH RIGHT. What a douche! He can't take no for an answer and even asks Sav's Dad to make him into a vamp, knowing it might cause a war. I loved the development of Savannah's kick-ass BFF Anne and her unfairly dumped boyfriend Ron, who has a supernatural secret of his own (with all the hints that are dropped, it wasn't a shock AT ALL). They really became characters in their own right in this book more so than the first one, especially once Savannah tells Anne her secret. The ending of this book was kind of obvious to who the murderer was, plus the whole subplot with Tristan's sister was unnecessary and I couldn't believe how dense her family was to the reality of the situation. I enjoyed seeing Mr. Colbert's interactions with his maker and Sav dealing with her vampire development. But the way the book ended, and what happened to Tristan really made me mad. It's the reason I deducted an extra half star from my rating. I now quite hate him and wish he meets a horrible end.

VERDICT: 3.5/5 Stars

Covet is book two in The Clann series by Melissa Darnell. I loved the first book, Crave. I wasn't disappointed with Covet. Darnell has a unique ability to draw her reader into her world. Though it's been some time since I finished Crave, I fell right in step with Covet. Her imagery is fantastic. Her characters are so real, it's easy to forget they're imaginary. I wasn't disappointed with Covet. Darnell has a unique ability to draw her reader into her world. Though it's been some time since I finished Crave, I fell right in step with Covet. Her imagery is fantastic. Her characters are so real, it's easy to forget they're imaginary. Their struggles are heartbreaking and their love is toe curling.

In Crave, Savannah struggles to deal with her changing body, mind and life. She suffers loss and heartbreak. But she's never weak. Always determined, she's strong in the face of bullies, enemies and fear. I love this. Who hasn't felt surrounded? Sav gets in there and resolves to stay her path. She's amazing. Her true love, Tristan, is as endearing and lovable as ever. Despite the huge amount of time passing after their break up, he doesn't give up on them, doesn't rebel against her, doesn't lash out. He believes in them and that unwavering passion is inspiring to a romantic like me.

It was fun to see the transformation of Sav. In the first book, Tristan protects her many times, emotionally and physically. In this book, Sav's strong enough for herself and for him. She's inspiring. Filled with girl-power. And speaking of girl power, her friend Anne steps up her game in this sequel. She's more than a quick wit after all. Just as I suspected/hoped. Everyone needs a friend like her. Another reason I gave Crave 5 stars, Darnell expands the cast a bit, delving into who they are, enriching the story and creating endless possible story lines - which has me drooling already for the third installment of this series. This was an overwhelming, page turning ride. My emotions ran the gamut and I am hooked on The Clann Series.

Despite the fact this is another YA with vampires, the story is fresh, fun and powerful. I'm so glad I gave Crave a chance. It became one of my favorites in 2011 and Covet is one of those in 2012. It's not about the vampires. It's about the people, the tension, the choices. Beautifully done. I would recommend this to any YA reader. Fabulous read. Amazing ending. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Covet picks up where Crave left, Savannah has saved Tristans from the Vampire council but it comes at a price Savannah has promised to break up with Tristan and never see him again. But what Savannah isn't prepared for is Tristan, who vowed not to give up on Savannah and he promised her that he would find a way for them to be together. I'm done with the book!!! Its over and i am not sure whether I'm happy about it or not.. Covet opens with a bang!! I started reading it yesterday and boy, Melissa Darnell is not holding back the punches!!! I read it almost non-stop (i couldn't sleep last night, I just had to finish it)

This was a great book. There was lots of adventure and changes and truth telling moments! A lot of drama and struggling as well.

I loved it! The only thing that bothered me was not seeing Savannah and Tristan as a couple. Him "dating" Brittany? Seriously, dude, it was obviously you were leading her on!

Love Ron and Anne! Such great friends! She's reckless and stubborn and he's sweet and caring. Lovables! I was shocked by Ron's secret. Didn't see that one coming.

Argh....I can't wait for the third book in this series!!!!! I really enjoyed Crave but it was nowhere near as good as Covet. This book was awesome sauce.

The Romeo and Juliet thing that Tristan and Savannah have is so heart wrenching. I spent the whole book trying to figure out along with them how they could possibly be together. There love is so deep and the feelings are full of tension. Sparks fly whenever they are around each other. It is so romantic.
