I have to say one thing about this author's book and writing style it pulls you in and deal with Native Americans. I liked reading about a hero who has struggled with his heritage his whole life, the poverty and not feeling heard, so he got out and almost sold himself out, he cut his hair, bought swanky cars, a condo, dated the boss's daughter and then he was forced to come back for a case and to his childhood sweetheart Tanya. He and Tanya had always had a passionate relationshi

This is my first secret-baby book, but I really, really love how it turned out.

It was certainly different in a lot of aspects. I have read a few books dealing with native american characters and I was pretty impressed with this one on that front. The book does in fact pull you in but I need to admit at some times of the book it was slow or what you call boring.

Nick Longhair couldn’t get away from the Reservation quick enough. Leaving behind the poverty that he associates with his upbringing, he dreams of making it as a hot shot lawyer in the city. He left everything and everyone behind when he left, including the woman that he professed to love.

Tanya has loved Nick for as long as she could remember. When they were on the Rez together they were in separable but then he left, and seemed to for

Good book. Nick didn't want to come back to the reservation, but he was sent there to work on a lawsuit. He did want to reconnect with Tanya with whom he's had an on again off again relationship since they were teenagers. When he arrived he was stunned to find out he had a son and that Tanya wanted nothing to do with him again. They had to deal together with their son, who is ill, and with the causes of his illness. They also had to find a way to deal with their renewed attraction. I mostly like ...more

This is Four and a Half stars. I do wish we had the capacity to do partial stars.

I won this book in a blog contest and after reading the last two books in the series I had it opened seconds after it hit my inbox. And that was it for the next two hours. Sarah M Anderson grabs your interest and never lets up the whole way through the story. Her characters are amazing. You can't help loving them right from the first moment. Sure they are stubborn and feisty and made mistakes but they are people you

****Won on Goodreads Firstreads****

This book was a nice, easy, read: perfect for a lazy day on the couch. It is the story of Nick Longhair, a member of the Red Creek Lakota, who left his roots behind, put himself through school and became a respected lawyer in Chicago. Fate has sent Nick back to the rez though, on a case involving the suspected pollution of the river supplying the Lakota with their drinking water. Upon his return, Nick has discovered that his first love Tanya, has had a baby whi

I won a copy of this book from the Jaunty Quills blog and very much enjoyed reading Nick and Tanya's story. I think Ms. Anderson's setting on the reservation is fascinating, and I liked that Nick was torn by his desire to leave the reservation, yet still have the family life he craved.

Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of secret baby books. I'm still not sure I find it believable that a single mother would not try harder to contact the father of her child when her child has severe health issues l

*I received this book as a gift in a Goodreads contest. I wrote the review of my own volition and all opinions are my own.*

My Review:

Nick is an angry young man. He arrives on the reservation with a huge chip on his shoulder and a bad attitude about the job he is there to do. Not acting like he cannot win the case nor that he doesn’t want it but that he was only chosen for this particular job because of his race. Well guess what? That played and plays a big role in it. Seeing Tanya again was sho

A Man of Distinction by Sarah M. Anderson

A Man of Distinction is hot book. Thier are a lot of sex scenes that I skimmed over.
This book has a lot of layers to it. Enviroment theme, poor medical coverage for those in need, wealth & power, possesions, poverty.
Nick Longhair is now a rich enviromental lawyer that lives in a high rise condo in
Chicago. He dates the owner's daughter. Has made it in the world. Then he gets a case that deals with a case of poisoning the water of a certain area on

I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has been a long time since I had last read books from this genre and publisher but it has made me eager to continue to read more. Well written and touching on a number of issues, but still keeping the storyline uncomlicated it keeps the reader turning the pages. I liked the characters, I liked the underlying issues and internal plots. It is a story about a man and a woman with a long history. She still lives ...more

The plot and characters started out well but then I dare to say became a little "slow" the book almost took on a "the story drags" kind of feeling. The story itself does draw one in and definitely has the makings of being one of those read in one sitting kinds of books.

But it was like all of a sudden the characters became almost predictable and it was like I had read the book before because I could tell exactly what was going to happen and it simply fel

Sarah Anderson really outdid herself. She wrote a book that dealt with many, many issues...environmental that dealt with illness, a less than perfect life on a reservation, poverty, having a child you don't know about (yikes), fighting corporate America, and dealing with a hero that wanted to deny where he came from, and a heroine that was proud of her heritage and wanted to be a positive change. How would they ever come together? I don't know how she did it, but she wrapped it up in a believabl ...more

This book tell the story of Nick whom have no desire to return to his root, found himself to be back in the town where he have left and found himself face to face with Tanya, his high school sweetheart who he left behind. Unlike his return before, Tanya is less than happy to see him and soon enough he found out that Tanya have a baby and that Baby is his.

Although the plot is rather interesting, i find it begin to look its appeal at the midsection of the book as the plot begin to lose its focus.

This book was all over the place and the Hero was unlikable. Nothing drew me to him. Arrogance and cockiness abounded. He thought he was it. Money and prestige seemed to be his only concerns. He left the love of his life when he went to the big city to become a huge environmental attorney. She tried repeatedly to talk to him to inform him he was going to be a father and he never returned her calls. I didn't like him or the way he treated the heroine and of course it was her fault.

I'm sorry but

A Man Of Distinction by Sarah M. Anderson is a well written story with fantastic characters. This story is fast paced and full of drama, humor and sizzle. Nick and Tanya's book is a fairly quick read, a perfect choice for those with limited time for reading. I enjoyed A Man Of Distinction and look forward to reading more from Sarah M. Anderson in the future. A Man Of Distinction is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I purchased a copy of this book at a reader event.

Really good, some parts reminded me of Erin Brokovich. It was just a nice read, that I enjoyed a lot, very touching in some parts. Full of real life situations, and flawed characters who you can relate to.

Bette than average story about a boy from the Rez who makes good and comes back to find he has a son. The characters felt realistic and the situation perhaps a bit unlikely but not over the top. I'd definitely read something by this author again.
