Where Azaleas Bloom by Sherryl Woods, the third in the Sweet Magnolias Trilogy, opens with Lynn Morrow realizing that her soon-to-be ex-husband, Ed, has left her with the whopping sum of $25.00 in her checking account. Although divorce is not an attractive subject, Ms. Woods manages to weave a heartfelt story about Lynn’s struggles to achieve financial independence while learning to forgive Ed and even to understand his own challenges. The ultimate reason that Lynn and Ed’s marriage has failed c...more

Review:Where Azaleas Bloom by Sherryl Woods
5 STARS This was a moving story in so many ways. This is the third book of this series that I have read. I look forward to reading more about thier town in the A Sweet Magnolia Novel. Most of the characters I have seen in the other books and Its like coming back to visit old friends. Lynn is going through a divorce at the start of the book. She only has less than 25$ in her checking book. She has not got support for the last two months. Just found out...more

I don't often "fall in love" with the heroes of romance novels, but if anything happened to my wonderful husband, I hope there is a Mitch in my life. Actually, being the independent cuss I am I'd probably reject him and his help, but it made for a good read. Mitch is just getting life on a good and even keel after losing his wife. Lynn is in the process of being divorced (her husband's idea, not hers) and besides feeling the sting of rejection, she's a woman who has always stayed home with kids...more

and the company of the kids.
Mitch is doing some construction work at Carter and Raylenes now that her shop has a thriving bsiness and he's trying to meet the deadlines by staying later when the weather permits so he's often at her house...more

I felt so sorry for Lynn in most of this one. I hated what Ed put her through, she was such slime. I did guess pretty early on what he was hiding. It didn't really surprise me, as this author likes to put lessons in her books and this one hadn't been addressed yet.

I really liked how once everyone became even the littlest bit aware of Lynn's difficulties they jumped in to help to the level that she would let them.

Mitch was a surprise for me. I was so so with him for so long, but he did win me ove...more

Another sweet romance from Sherryl Woods, and a romance dealing with real issues. Nothing is too sweet when real life comes between this couple.

We have Lynn who is going through a hard and messy divorce. She is trying to do her best but it isn't easy. She is honest, hard-working and loves her kids. In comes Mitch who is fixing something next doors. Now this was sweet as he had a crush on her when their were younger. But he got married, she got married, and now he is a widower and she is separate...more

My Review:
I really enjoyed the parts of this book that featured Lynn and Mitch. I liked them together and like that they have a bit of history...i.e. Mitch had a crush on her when they were kids, but it was unrequited because Lynn only had eyes for her soon-to-be-ex-husband Ed. I also liked that there was a bit of suspense/mystery to the story line because no one knows what is truly going on with Ed. All they know is that he's suddenly acting and doing things that are completely out of character...more

The Sweet Magnolias are growing in numbers. We are introduced to the female lead as she is struggling to stay afloat while she and her husband are divorcing. Things are not right with her husband's responsibilities to family support. Meanwhile our male hero is introduced as having our female lead in school but although he liked her, she was already seeing her future husband. Now being reintroduced to our female lead he takes up the slack and is helping out anyway he can. Things get dicey and the...more

My heart went out to Lynn as she struggles financially while going through a divorce and must deal with her soon to be ex who is behind on child support and is off on expensive trips often. This woman and her children are actually at the point of going hungry, thankfully they have friends and neighbors that help and would do more if they knew her dire financial situation.

Mitch is a sweetheart, such a kind man with a caring heart. He's a romantic and his old fashioned courtship was touching. Sen...more

Ok I just love the Sweet Magnolia Books. I previously read Catching Fireflies and Midnight Promises you can check out those reviews. Where the Azaleas Bloom also strikes home for me since like Lynn I am a single mom struggling to make ends meet at times. The romance between Lynn and Mitch is well so romantic. He is such a sweetheart, he respects Lynn and wants to help her out but also recognizes that she needs to stand on her own too. Its a fine line, and I think Mitch does an excellent job in w...more

Received this book as an ARC from the publisher for fair review. For our site more than one of us read AZALEAS to keep things balanced as I am into the darker side of life and many of the BC gals LIVE for "real lifer" contemporary romances like this. I believe when we average this out we'll be at somewhere between 3.5-3.8 or a B-. Love, marriage, family and forgiveness are Sherryl Wood's themes.

Why many of the BC Gals like her: "Woods mixes humor with sadness, realistic storylines with timely is...more

As always Sherryl Woods offers up a storyline that keeps you totally engulfed in the story. All the characters are so charismatic that you can't seem to get enough of them. All the "Sweet Magnolias" are a force to be reckoned with and Lynn albeit not officially a "Sweet Magnolia" at the beginning of the book. By the end show her strong resolve & back bone in order to keep her family feed & a roof over their heads proves soon enough she's got the stuff. Getting a divorce from Ed is going...more

This is the tenth installation in the The Sweet Magnolias series and tell the story of Lynn and Mitch. Lynn is in the midst of an ugly divorce proceeding against Ed and wonder how her life going to be when her bank balance is down to the last 20s. She struggle with her life as well as trying hard to protect her two children from the ugliness of the divorce proceeding. Lynn is a very strong characters. Very sweet book. All sex is behind the closed door.Typical Sweet Magnolias story. Woman done wrong (this one has children), does what she has to do to survive and thrive, meets the perfect man and all problems are dealt with swiftly with the best possible outcome.
There is a but of a twist with the reason her first man done her wrong, but it is telegraphed fairly early n and the reveal is no big surprise. What is a surprise is that the issue is not definitively dealt with. That was why I made thi...more

Lynn Morrow is shocked when her husband Ed wants a divorce. What is even worse is when she finds that she has exactly 24.35 in her checking account to survive and purchase food for her children. Jeremy is 10 and Lexie is 14 and when he asks for a snack after school she is totally panicked, as she has nothing in the house. Her struggle for answers begins and thanks to some wonderful friends like her next door neighbor Raylene and Carter they pick up on this and suddenly inviting them over for din...more

Review originally published at The Bookwyrm's Hoard.

Sherryl Woods consistently turns out well-crafted, enjoyable contemporary romances, and her latest novel is no exception. Where Azaleas Bloom, the tenth book in Woods’ popular Sweet Magnolias series, is a warm and sensitively-written book about finding love after loss.

Both main characters are portrayed with sympathetic insight, as are many of the secondary characters. Lynn’s anger at her estranged husband’s failure to provide for their childre...more

This is the tenth book in the Sweet Magnolias series and the third book in the newest trilogy that has been released. This one was all about Lynn (a struggling mom of two) and Mitch. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't recall meeting these characters in any of the previous books but many of the recurring characters turned up in this one.

A brief synopsis first. Lynn is just reeling from the understanding that she will not be reconciling with her husband (Ed) and is now in an embittered divorce battle wi...more

I enjoyed this book as with all the others in this series. A few places seemed unrealistic as to timing orfeelings, but overall it was a great read. I like the way she incorporates several different story lines in each book with chapters going back to others. I appreciate the focus on the elderly and the problems with early Alzheimer's disease as well as the younger generations, mother-daughter relationships and romance. Overall, recommended.

I don't know if it was my mood but I did not enjoy this book as much as the others in the Sweet Magnolia series. I probably would have given up and quit reading it if I hadn't wanted to know what was going on with Ed. The relationship development between Lynn and Mitch was predictable and a bit boring. Not a terrible book but not Ms. Woods best book.

Another wonderful book from Sherryl Woods. Divorce is never easy and it's worse when you don't know exactly why its happening. This was the case for Lynn Morrow and all of her struggles are highlighted from stuggling to make ends meet to finding enough strength to survive for her kids. The twist at the end will take you by surprise.

Really good read. I love the setting and the characters of these Sweet Magnolia books. All her characters are people I like pretty much...but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to give 'em a good talking to sometimes.

This is a clean romance and great for snuggling up in the recliner on a cold, wet day, with some hot chocolate.

This book was about Lynn Morrow and her relationship with Mitch Franklin. Early on in this book we know that Mitch has had a thing for Lynn since they were kids. Lynn ended up married to Ed Morrow who spent most of his time treating Lynn like crap. With the pending divorce Lynn learns more about Ed then she ever knew while they were married. We also get to hear more about Frances and her illness which leaves her having no choice but to go into assisted living.

Part of the Sweet Magnolias Series. The Sweet Magnolias are adding to their group. This is a great series of easy, light reading. There is s surprise twist to this one. I love the series and have read all of the books and look forward to Woods adding more. You really get involved in the characters and their lives.

This one about a single mom having a hard time. She is going through a divorce and her husband is making it impossible to take care of her kids. She finds she has more friends than she knows. You get so interested in the book you are done before you know it. Get that book and the rest of the series, you will enjoy it

Lynn is in the process of a divorce. Her ex would rather be golfing then paying support leaving Lynn working 3 jobs to keep food on the table.
Mitch is a contractor working on the house next door.

Didn't realize this was part of a series. Got others on order. Easy to listen to, good story.

I bought this book in a grocery store in Orlando, Fl. The store only had cheese romance novels or these Southern belle type books. This particular one was written by a 60 some year old lady who likes to write about other older ladies who are horny for the local handyman. It was awful but I finished it. I would never recommend reading anything by this author.

With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.

"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sa...more
