I decided to read 'Love at second sight' as the cover caught my eye, it was in the recommended section in the library and I am a huge fan of chick flicks and romance novels.

This book falls into the category of 'a book written in 2012-2013'. This category was interesting for me because new literature of modern times is interesting and easy to relate to.

This book taught me that sometimes if you look too closely at things you you miss what's right before your eyes. In this novel Jo ( the protagon...more

Love at Second Sight was a book I'd never heard of until I went to an Simon & Schuster event back in July, and luckily enough, I managed to snag a copy. This is my first book by author Cathy Hopkins and I must say, it definitely won't be my last.

The story follows the life of teenager Jo, who so far has been quite unlucky in love. All of her friends have boyfriends and she's sick of feeling like a third wheel and despite Jo's protests, her friends drag her to see a clairvoyant. Once there, t...more
Cathy Hopkins. One of the, by far, best writers ever! I love all her books especially the mates dates series. She can actually make it seem like your part of the book. It's amazing. Gossip, lurrrrve and omg's is what she writes. Her book, " Love at second sight" was great! Jo, a normal teenager goes looking for her soulmate and finds not one but three possibilities gorgeous Finn? Well what else is there to say about him? He's divine! Caring Owen, a college student, handsome and smart. Or Ben? Hm...more
I liked the idea of the story. like the idea of reincarnation and how you could've been someone in a past life. I like history a lot so with that aspect I liked the book. also the fact that it was a romantic book as well also made the book really good. at one point in the book, I couldn't stop reading and was always looking forward to reading it once I came back from school. however, I felt that the ending happened quite suddenly and I thought that it wasn't as anti climatic as I thought it woul...more
When Jo is forced to see a fortune teller by her 2 best friends, her life changes after the fortune teller tells her that there is only 1 boy for her. The only problem is that the last time they meet was in a past life when she was a slave called Henrietta. Jo , her friends and their boyfriends search up Henrietta and find a whole family. Jo has dreams of a house but then she finds that house goes inside and she recognises it completely. She turns finds out that the boy she is looking for is clo...more
This was my very first Cathy Hopkins novel and I’m telling you now, it won’t be my last! I really, really enjoyed it.

There is an infectious warmth about Love at Second Sight that drew me on the very first page and didn’t let me go until a while after the last. I think that had a lot to do with the characters more so than any stylistic feature or the plot. Our protagonist, Jo, is fabulous. She’s smart ad logical, loves Steampunk and Pre-Raphaelite art and most importantly, she’s a normal teenage...more
I picked Love at Second Sight up because I was in the mood for cute and fuzzy and based on those expectations this book didn’t disappoint.

Jo’s story is interesting and a nice way to spend a few hours. The idea behind this book certainly works at peaking your interest and I guess depending on the your viewpoint on reincarnation it’ll either pull work or not. For me Jo is a little too fussed on the boyfriend quest and I was surprised to find out she’s 17 not younger. Jo starts out as a big skeptic...more

I really loved the concept of this book. The whole idea of reincarnation, and finding a true soul mate is obviously romantic, but it also provides a very interesting backdrop to a romance! I loved all the back story and finding out about Henrietta.

I loved the way Jo is extremely sceptical at first, and slowly starts to think there might just be something to it. It makes it much more believable - and I loved investigating her past life with her.

Boy wise I knew who I wanted it to be and who I didn...more
How to put it on my ebook? Really can't read it. There's no 'READ NOW' in it.??
This book was just amazing. Hopkins adds so much meaning and mystery ( though the past life aspect) to a book that I thought would just be like a chick-flick. The book doesn't drag on , and the story line is of a teenager looking for love , as cliche as that sounds , it isn't!

I enjoyed the book very much and finished it in a day ,its a book that will keep you hooked till the end - there were many moments where I just wanted to take a glimpse at the ending as even I couldn't guess her "true" lov...more
heart warming. sweet.funny.light.deep.

I love this book along with all of Cathy Hopkins books. But this one stands out more than the others, as also being just one of those other everyday chick-flick books it makes you sit on the edge of you seat. As Jo (the girl in the story) goes searching for her soul mate where in which she get told she was once a women is a past life and then searches into history to find her true soul mate. This book is a great read, its really more than it seems so don't go judging this book by its cover!
I liked this more than I thought I would based on the blurb, but I'm not sure how much of that was based on me learning about Victorian death rituals for my degree! I thought the second half was stronger than the first because Jo's cynicism was less grating. Something which annoyed me when Jo finally found The One was how many times they stared into
each others eyes... However if you enjoyed Cathy Hopkins other books you are likely to enjoy this one too.

This wan't my first Hopkins novel to read but after this one i will definitely be looking into more her novels, i very enjoyed the book, it was extremely sweet and very entertaining and i finished it, in just under 4 days Readers will not be disappointed and will be routing for their own team whether that is Team Finn, Team Owen or *sigh* Team Ben :D

BTW I always Team Ben (Ok maybe i was Team Finn for a bit......but only a bit ok lol)

I picked this book up when I saw it in my school library.

The main point of this story is for Jo to find her soulmate. The problem I had with this book was that the male interests were almost absent throughout the whole book.

The book is easy to understand so if you're looking for a light read during the weekends, this book might be suitable for you.
3 stars just for the last few pages!
I think I'm getting too old for Cathy Hopkins *cry*.

I thought it was the best romance book I have ever read. It was all about the history or the past and how the two main characters are destined to fall in love and how they meet each other right now. After their sad separation in the past. <3 :)
The whole reincarnating thing and soul mates was really cool.
I read this book as research on what is currently on the shelves while I am writing my first book. I really enjoyed it, for a book in the teen section! Investigation into how your past life can affect your present life was really interesting and not something I have really thought of before.

I found this book really enjoyable and read as a homework peace
and now I am currently reading the million dollar mates catwalk queen as I have already read the first in the series. Cathy Hopkins is a great writer that needs to write more books

Wasn't expecting this book to be as good as it was.
I have read Cathy Hopkins's other series when I was in school and was hooked on them.
This book was oozing with cute stuff and fluffiness.
The ending was perfect and loved it.

Full review to come...

This book was a really fun read
overall I did enjoy this book I found the clairvoyants and past life's part of this story very interesting and romantic but I wish the boys had had a bigger part in the book and that parts of Howard and Henrietta actual story had been in the book.
This book is an easy, light read perfect for what I wanted! It's got quite a cute story line and for those interested in reincarnation it might hold an interest! A nice way to spend a few hours reading. Nothing too heavy.

I loved this book, a lot. I thought it was great; except the only parts I enjoyed were the parts with Ben Fraser. I knew that he was Howard.

Because Ben Howard. I was like "Lol I bet he's Howard."

and he was Howard.
Good build up to the end.
This book wasn't really very realistic but I loved it all the same. It was confusing at times but I just couldn't put it down. I read it in a couple of hours, only stopping for dinner when I had to!
This book talks about finding a soul mate that was in the past life. This soul mate will either find you or you will find him in this life. It was an interesting story to read on.
