Two words! Read it!

James, a blue blooded lawyer has had his life all mapped out for as long as he can remember; His plan: Win this Case; get married to a woman hand-picked by his mother and run for President.

James is currently working on the case of his life and meets Maggie when she summoned to his office as a potential witness on the case.

I did a double take when Maggie a native American heroine is introduced in this book; Maggie had a hard life and a h...more

This is the second of this series, the story of lawyer James Carlson who appears in A Man of His Word. He is a man of destiny, born to privilege and on a path to the White House. Never putting a foot wrong is his motto, doing what is expected, his mantra.
He never expected a former drug addict and prostitute to be the one to rattle his chains and make him rethink everything he's ever wanted.
Maggie Eagle Heart is well named. With help from the elderly Nan, another strong woman she met at her lowes...more

Really 4.5 Stars

James Carson is a successful lawyer, future senator and maybe even one day President. When he hears about the corrupt judge who let off women defenders in return for sexual favours, he realises this is the case that could pave the way for his future. He has plenty of evidence but he is a man who likes to have an insurance policy and that comes in the form of former meth addict Maggie. Setting his FBI partn...more

Good book. James goes to Maggie to get her testimony to help bring down a corrupt judge. If he wins this case he will be on his planned road to political office, and he won't let anything get in his way. Maggie is a former drug addicted prostitute, but she has turned her life around. She refuses to let herself be intimidated. When he tries to bluff her into helping him, she calls him on it and walks out. She surprises him, and he feels an intense attraction to her also. He also knows he can't do...more

Another winner from this author, we met James in the last book, he is prosecutor and comes from a very wealthy family and has political aspirations, his life is mapped out and when trying to strengthen the case against a corrupt judge(from the last book), he calls in the heroine Maggie and doesn't get what he expected. Maggie was a abused, drug user, prostitute with 17 cases against her, but the woman he meets is not the same, she is classy and not the abused woman he expected and tells him off...more

It's been a long time since I have labeled a category romance "outstanding" but A MAN OF PRIVILEGE by Sarah M Anderson is a remarkable and outstanding story. Picture a high powered, toast of society special prosecutor, with a roadmap to the White House and looks that can rival any movie star. Picture him making the case of his career with the help of an ex-hooker/drug offender and also the woman that he has just fell for after a fifteen minute meeting. It's a crash waiting to happen or is it? I...more

Overall rating -- 4.5 stars

Loved the hero and heroine! They were both real people dealing with the polar opposites of problems. He's trying to overcome a privileged background and pressure to meet his parents political aspirations for me. She's trying to forget her the life she escaped (a wayward teen involved in drugs and prostitution) ten years ago.

The book was perfect with it's imperfectness. The hero and heroine both have flaws and faults, and their first coupling was raw, rough and messy in...more

This is one of the best, and most surprising, category romances I've read in a long time. The heroine is an ex-prostitute and former drug user. The hero is a lawyer with political ambitions, who is currently investigating a judge for corruption.

The element I liked most was how each of the characters behaved in a mature and honest way - no silly misunderstandings. They both had integrity - regardless of their upbringing. And I could believe in the HEA.

Decent novel, the hero wasn't a douche, thank god. He was a bit unorthodox in some cases but other than that I truly liked him. The heroine was a bit out there in my opinion but at times I felt sorry for her. I didn't really feel too strong of an emotional attachment to these characters unfortunately.

I absolutely loved the fact that the heroine had a less than perfect past, and that these two very different people could get their HEA. Reminded me of the movie Pretty Woman. I'll definitely be buying the first book in this series because my curiosity has been piqued about Rosebud.
Ryann Murphy
James is a lawyer destined for the White House, so he knows he can't get involved with a prime witness who used to be a drug addicted prostitute. She's changed...but will he be able to change enough to be worth her love?
Debbie
I enjoyed this one because the story was very different. The heroine is a former prostitute and drug addict.

"Anderson's latest is a refreshing twist on the typical Desire, featuring a raw and powerful love story that is at times dark and savage, and then sweetly sexy." RT Book Reviews, rated 4 1/2 stars

This is my second book for Harlequin Desire. Sadly, there's no shirtless cowboys on horseback in this one, but I think you'll like James anyway.
