MIRAGE was one of those books that I couldn't wait to get my hands on. HAVEN, the first book in this series, was amazing and the countdown to MIRAGE was almost painful it was so long. But, wow, when I finally did get to read it, I was so not disappointed. In fact, MIRAGE may be even better than HAVEN, a feat I didn't think could be possible.

Violet and Aidan have spent the summer apart and are finally about to come back together at the start of the book. Violet's impatience to see him is palpable and, I must say, something I felt myself. How would Aidan be in book two? Is it possible he'd still have the same effect on her (me/everyone else) as he'd had before? Surely, not. But, oh yes. Yes, he does still have that same effect, and then some. Excuse me while I swoon.

Aidan and Violet's relationship heats up in many ways, but there is also a lot of uneasiness surrounding them too. It's not exactly written into their words, but you can feel it all the same. It doesn't help that there is a murderer on the loose, Violet's visions are increasing in urgency and she's learning more and more about her Sabbat history.

The secondary characters in MIRAGE really took a front seat, and I loved every minute of it. Tyler especially. You may remember him from book one, but if you don't, I wouldn't worry. After MIRAGE, I'm not sure you'll be able to forget him. And then there's Matthew--or Dr. Hottie as the girls of Winter Haven like to call him--he's certainly fulfilled his role in this novel as well.

I love MIRAGE didn't follow the typical "book two break-up" of so many other YA novels out there. It went a way all its own and was all the better for it. MIRAGE is a heart-pounding, pulse-racing adrenaline rush of a sequel that's packed with mystery and sexiness in all the right ways. MIRAGE left me screaming at the last page wanting more. Let the countdown for book three begin!

This was slightly better than the first book. I still don't like the romance between Aiden and Violet though. Its creepy that Violet looks like Aiden's dead ex girlfriend. I just can't bring myself to believe in the romance between them because I don't buy Aiden's feelings for her. Mirage is the much anticipated follow up to Kristi Cook’s captivating debut novel, Haven. I was so excited to finally get my hands on a copy of this book, and to also participate in the blog tour for the book! I just couldn’t wait to read it. I remember in my review for Haven that I mentioned that the book and characters reminded me of The X-Men meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When I met the characters once again in Mirage, it felt exactly the same way!

Mirage picks up a few weeks after Haven leaves off. It’s now senior year for Violet and the crew, and Violet wants nothing more than to see Aidan again after their long summer break apart. But their last year of school is not going as smoothly as they hoped. A rouge vampire is on the loose, killing innocent people, friends are pulling away from the each other, and people prove to be not at all what they seem.

I love the characters in this series SO much. Violet is such a strong character. I love the relationship between her and Aidan. Ah, Aiden... He’s one of the very first male protagonists that I fell in love when I started reading YA books. He’s so mysterious and alluring; I just can’t get enough of him. Together, these two make a great couple. They definitely have their trials in Mirage, but their love is still strong.

Violet also has some really great friends that we get to meet again in Mirage. I love Kate, Sophie, Whitney and Cece. Although there is quite a bit of drama between them, they are all such great friends to Violet. We are also introduced to some new characters along the way, on in particular that I’m still quite unsure about. I’m definitely hoping that we will learn a bit more in the next book.

The storyline was very well thought out, and the pacing for the book was just right. I flew through this book in just a few hours time. The book ends on a pretty big cliffhanger, and I’m dying to get my hands on the next book just to figure out what exactly is going to happen next! (Oh, the agnoy!)

Overall, if you enjoyed reading Haven, you’re definitely going to enjoy reading Mirage! This series just gets better and better. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Frankly, the general plot is predictable. Our heroine is the usual character: beautiful, smart, strong without effort, and attractive to every male she encounters. All of her guy and girl friends magically get together to make the perfect cluster of couples for the group. Ultimately, she's a flat character. The intervening summertime is summarized that Violet had spent the summer taking care of her Gran who had suffered a stroke. After arranging for a care taker to stay with Gran and Lupe Violet feels a bit more at ease when returning to school. She returns to school anticipating the return of Aidan as the two have been separated for the whole summer. After last years fiasco with Julius Violet is hoping for a much calmer year. And from my reading and feel of the novel things are relatively calm and there really is no action or tension that builds over the course of this novel. I didn't feel a sense of urgency or a real climax that was in need of being solved as the first book had.

Violet still has her visions to deal with but lucks out when a certain handsome teacher offers to help her as he has similar psychic abilities himself. He works with Violet and helps her to recall her visions so that she can begin to make sense of them and get details so that she might alter the endings. The main vision she comes back to time and time again is a vision of Aidan attacking her childhood friend Whiteny. While this is troubling I just didn't see it as a strong tension builder. The only events that could be seen as tension building, and its a bit of a stretch at that, may be the struggles Aidan has with working towards a cure, and even that is only peripheral because Violet does not work with Aidan in the lab.

Violet also has the discovery of a little more information about her Sabbat origin to deal with. The information is vague and seemingly sketchy. She refuses to accept her destiny because she feels her free will is what will allow her to make up her own mind. When confronted with the chance to explore the meaning of the information however she runs rather than confronts the issue. It is her fate however and she must one day face it.

The climax that is given in the book is wrapped up way too quickly and I don't feel that was a very satisfactory ending. I don't like when books end just pages after the climax. Not that things were wrapped up in a tight little bow either. It was kind of a jilted ending and ends with Violet vowing to herself to make sense of things between her and Aidan as well as to understand her status as a Sabbat. It was not much of a conclusion and was very open ended.

I'd recommend it I suppose to anyone who read the first one and was curious to see where things are going. I may pick up the next book, but I'm not completely committed at this point.(less)

I didn't really remember much from Haven except that I enjoyed Violet's character, I was in love with her boyfriend Aidan and the story swept me away. Getting back into the Winterhaven world was easy though. There was enough recap to catch me up but not take away from the story.
It continues on as the new school year is starting, and keeps dealing with the issue of the cure, and other plotlines from Haven.

This sequel was even better than Haven! The same characters that I loved in the first book came back stronger than ever, with the addition of a few new faces. Violet also comes back bigger and stronger than ever. She isn't as freaked out by her visions as she was in the first book. She is definitely adjusting to her life in Winterhaven. I loved seeing her character grow and stay strong to fight back the higher stakes in this book.

I rate this 4.5. I would have rated it 5 if Ms. Kristi Cook has reintroduced the characters to the readers on the first two chapters since it has been a year passed. Otherwise, I have enjoyed reading it. Ms. Cook has kept the suspense until the end. She has also added new interesting characters. With that out of the way, well, it's actually the only redeeming quality that made me rate higher than the last. This book was good, albeit somewhat predictable at a certain point. I've got to admit though, that I did not expect that ending. I was actually left... wanting for more.

Hmmm!! what a book...I loved the pace of the book ...no unnecessary explaination...so many interesting things it this book.It got to keep you hooked..

Mirage is everything a sequel should be. Introduces some new characters, keeps us updated on the characters we love, introduces new obstacles to the characters and is a continuation of the story we have a connection to which is why we are reading the sequel right? Kristi does all this and more in Mirage.

I liked this book, but it doesn’t have a lot of action--way too much of a set-up without nearly enough follow-up events or excitement. And, as soon as the book started to get interesting, it abruptly ended with a huge cliff hanger! Arggh!! Now I’m going to have to remember all of the details, hints, and loose ends, as well as my suspicions until the next book comes out… I almost wish I’d waited until the series was complete to read this installment! I knew there was something up with (view spoiler), though looks like I’ll have to wait for the next book to find out exactly what's happening ((view spoiler)). Glad some of the weird things from the last book were explained (e.g. (view spoiler)), though sometimes the explanations were fairly hard to buy and too convenient. I also thought the pacing was a little off in this book again, just like the first one. Time jumps ahead at strange moments--like when you know someone wouldn’t take a week to confront someone else about something vital--it should be immediate, yet it takes days or weeks for an important conversation. Just doesn’t seem logical or realistic…

I do love the characters in this series and want to know what happens to them next (and how on earth all those numerous loose ends are tied up!), so I’ll probably read the next book. Hopefully it has much less setup and more resolution!! (And, hopefully I can at all remember the characters and what was going on with the plot by the time the next book finally comes out…!) Be warned that this book has some mature language and situations, so is probably better for older teens or adults.

I LOVED IT, LOVED IT.
Oh my god the end just left me excited, speechless, stupid, screaming, crying and wanting more. There HAS to be another book, I need to know what happens next. Okay, I can't believe the whole Sábbat/Megvéd thing, I mean Dr. Byrne?! Oh sweet lord, even though I'm not gonna lie I kinda suspect it when they found out about the legend and the mark, it was pretty obvious.

The book will keep you on the edge of your seat biting down your nails!!!! I went a little crazy during this book.

Violet again is back at Winterhaven and loving it. She has her friends, Aiden and is happy to be back. She is finally in a happy place and loving life. Violet her first day sees something she just cannot believe and is totally freaking out but she is keeping the vision to herself telling herself it must have been a dream not a vision. As the book goes on alot is happening and she is learning tons of new things from school and about Aiden himself. As she learns new things about her sabbat side she is kind of freaking out and not liking at all what she is seeing in her visions. Tyler is the new guy at school who is obnoxious but is going through the same thing she did. He is something of a mystery and is totally confusing. Aiden is starting to act weird and Violet is getting very worried about him, not knowing what is going on, who can she go to for help?

As the book goes on you are thinking one thing and the opposite happens. Also there are some HUGE discoveries you will just love. This book totally topped the first one and Kristi keeps the momentum going and not letting you down. She keeps the book interesting and doesn't let the reader get bored, you want to keep going to see what is going to happen, are her visions true? can she save the ones she love? Can she figure out this mystery that is haunting her? You will have to read to find out what is going happen!(less)

I really love this series. A boarding school for psychics, a girl who’s destiny is to kill vampires, and a really hot vampire who’s ambitious to for the cure for vampirism. Not your typical vampire book, but kind of typical for the paranormal romance + boarding school genera (Similar to Hex Hall, Vampire Academy, Dead Beautiful…ect.). Mirage is the perfect sequel to Haven. Mirage leaves you in suspense and wondering what's going to happen next. Kristi Cook introduces you to new characters and they blended it right in with the rest of the Winter Haven Crew. I really enjoyed these new characters. So this book was very entertaining. I never found myself bored or waiting for it to be over. It's a great continuation to the series especially since it doesn't overload you with a recap on the last book. Have I ever told you how much i love Kristi Cook's works? Her writing style, way of describing characters and also bringing them all together is just amazing. I absolutely adored Haven and I can't wait to read the next book of this series as well.

Mirage was very well written. I absolutely loved how Kristi Cook had brought back the warm feeling from the first book and also in the first few pages, reviewing what happened in the first book. The new characters in this book are amazing as well.

We start off back at Winterhaven, where Aidan and Violet have been apart all summer. And, they are both so happy to be back with each other. Then, Violet starts getting freighting visions about people she really cares about. Soon everything seem to take a turn towards constant turmoil: Violet isn't sure who to trust, there's a murderer on the lose, and oh yeah... her latest visions are visions that constantly haunt her. As Violet dives more into who she is, and Aidan fights more to find a cure, their senior year at Winterhaven is anything but easy going.

I truly loved where Kristi took this sequel. Violet, is a smart girl (strong too!) and I love watching her with her friends, teachers, and of course Aidan. With Violet, comes the bigger role of Matthew, aka Dr. Hottie. I loved his role in Mirage and I cannot wait to read more about him! Also, the minor characters play a big part in this series and I truly love that! One in particular is Tyler. His cockiness, athleticism, and overall demeanor totally won me over in Mirage. And of course the final boy... Aidan. Aidan is one of my favorite book boyfriends. I think he's got all the goods and then some. All throughout Haven I was rooting for him, and in Mirage that didn't change one bit. I almost felt bad for him in this one though, it seemed as if Violet and him were constantly going through some kind of trouble. Though, I'm still rooting for him and his cure! And, I'll still be expecting tons of Aidan sexiness in book three!

Kristi definitely takes readers on another thrilling journey in the lovely world of Winterhaven in Mirage. There's some parts I honestly didn't see coming and other parts where my heart dropped into my stomach. There's still secrets that need to be revealed and I cannot wait to find out what they are! I love this world and this story and I seriously cannot wait for the third book!(less)

Senior year at Winterhaven begins much more auspiciously for Violet than her junior year did. She has friends, a boyfriend, and is beginning to understand her gift. The only problem she and her vampire boyfriend Aidan face is the fact that she's a vampire slayer. Aidan continues to search for a cure for vampirism while Violet continues to develop her precognitive gift. Terrifying visions and supposed killer vampire only add to the tension.
