A nice Kindle daily special - what a cute little love story.

I'm still suffering through a so-so trilogy that I feel too invested in to abandon, even though I don't love it, so this little dose of happy, ever after was fun to break the pace. Read it all in the span of 2 runs on the treadmill.

Thank you Cathy Maxwell!

Shelves: romance
This reminds me of stock melodramas and farces because the plot is quick and full of schemes, deception, and betrayals. Michael, in order to win Ivy's hand, is sent to steal a formula from a scientist. The scientist's niece, Jocelyn, is heartbroken that her former fiance has become betrothed the the local lord's daughter, and schemes to make him jealous by using Michael as an escort. But sparks fly between Michael and Jocelyn. Perfect for a couple hours of sweet, if silly, distraction.
