I read this book today while looking around at big lots. It was a cute story about a brother and sister who missed seeing their parents, tired of eating mac and cheese every night and wanted to spend family time with them. I loved the artwork in this children's book as well. A very good read. Definitely check it out.
This book is the picture book version of the novel The Snow Angel by the same author. It is a lovely story about two children who have to deal with things changing in their lives. Their parents have to be gone more than they would like to earn a living. Their grandmother comes in to care for them and tells them a story of how snow angels are "magical, because if you make one for someone you love, it stores all of that love right in their heart" and "the angels...would always be with her, even wh ...more

This is a very touching story about a family who have fallen among hard times like so many other American families. The parents work multiple jobs and the grandmother has to stay with the kids in the evening. In the end, the kids realize that their parents really love them and are just trying to do what's best for the family. I think that I lot of kids can relate to this in some way, whether if their family is struggling economically or if they spend a lot of time with extended family.

I only read the picture book version of this book, but found the story overly simplified for the complex topic of a family struggling with finacial worries. Also read the reviews for what I assume is the chapter book version and it apparently focused on domestic abuse...why would you ever even try to convert that into a picture book? Makes no sense to me!

It's bad enough to have this man's nonsense poisoning the world, but it is another to incorporate his political agenda into a children's picture book. Disappointing to say the least, but somehow expected.
As a former latchkey kid, I wouldn't readily compare my childhood to World War II... but, uh, okay.

Still, barf.
Rating for children's book, which does not fit the Goodreads description at all.
A very cute story about the importance of loving and helping each other.
