This book has some nice collection of jokes, personal experiences, and quotes. But as a humourist he should know the fine line between funny & sick jokes, which he does not, of course. Considering him an entertainer (or may be the right word is 'joker')of a massive number of people, I tried to overlook it. But there are other reasons if anyone wants to shatter his stupid skull:
1. Animal Cruelty:

I'll go home then is not an apt title by any means for any kind of book. Trust David Thorne to come up with it. It's not as good as Thorne's first book, The Internet's a playground. He knows this book is inferior, a fact that I grasped within the first few pages. Although the quite long foreword was good, it showed a different kind of humor, more slapstick.
The book's main jokes are double meaning. That's fine if the idea by itself is funny. Maybe this book is not for me but I did enjoy the Int...more

Can't really see most people digging this, but I love it, and so.
As well, nearly all of the content in this book and his first are available at his excellent website, and better still, the images are in color. So, like, you can save some money and check it all out without opening your wallet.
Me, I buy his books because I find his stuff so gasp-inducingly funny that I want to support him. Laughed out loud long and wheezily at so much in this book (and on the site), that it is hard to single out...more

Oh how I love David Thorne and oh how I ate this book. It's his little follow up to his first book, still more fucking with people a la his 27b/6 website, so basically everything I said about that first book holds true here.
I guess I've just had to decide he is not evil and that the people he fucks with have to deserve it, otherwise he would have zero friends. He might have social issues/impulse control, because who the hell just wanders off angrily at a forced work weekend getaway/has the balls...more

You know, I once heard a keynote speech by Robert Stephens (the guy who came up with the Geeksquad), who told about a professor he was working for at a university for some extra cash. The professor told him not to forget this simple principle:
"confidence = deviance."
I take it to mean that the better you are at something, the easier it is for you to do things that are not as normal as others in your field.
David Thorne reminds me of Simon Cowell. Without him American Idol is just a sham, as he was

Although not as rich and dense as The Internet is a Playground, this was another hilarious read. I had so much fun reading. Constantly snickering and even bursting out laughing. The people around me often looked at me as if I lost my mind.
This book contains the texts that didn't make the first book, completed with new texts and photoshopped images. Thorne downplays his efforts by stating this book contains the texts that were "too bad" for the first book. But, because he needed to write a new bo...more

Every time I review a funny book here at BEB, I worry that I’ve gone too far. “That’s it Leslie. You’ve read all the really funny books out there, and nothing will make you laugh out loud at the orthodontist again.” Sigh. It’s sad because I believe it to be true. And yet, I’m still here, reviewing funny books. But this time, I think I’ve truly hit the wall…jumped the shark with Fonzie…whatever. Until I found this – David...more

HILARIOUS!!!!! I love this guy! I found him online and love reading his website 27bslash6.com. He is a guy that just loves to mess with people and ramble on and on. You must check out his website! As soon as I read the online article about trouble he got in for using the Penguin Books logo on this cover (which has now been changed) I just had to buy the book and it was well worth it! I even e-mailed David Thorne and he actually wrote me back. I felt very special.

I like this David Thorne a titch (I've been using 'titch' in verbal conversation for the past few months without knowing for sure if it was a real word or not. Turns out it is!) less than the first David Thorne, but that just means I laughed out loud one or two times less than last time, and that might have something to do without not being able to get into a good groove what with constantly stopping to do family time bullshit over the holiday season, which is when I started it. Now I read it an...more
Absolutely hysterical. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. This will appeal to anyone who appreciates sarcasm and a good, old practical joke. It also appeals to anyone who has ever worked in an agency setting before.
Toward the end of the book it loses a bit of steam and isn't as funny, but I still recommend this book to anyone and everyone. David, I appreciate all the laughs I got from reading this. Thank you.

I could not read this book in any kind of setting where I was eating, drinking, or around other people, as every single paragraph made me laugh like an insane person. David Thorne has my sense of humor to a tee. I absolutly love the way the book is put in order; nothing makes sense until you read it all, or not at all. I adore David Thorne, truly.
Hilarious, as always. A view of everyone's favorite ego-centric office nuisance. A good laugh at his daily life and the going's-on of a witty and sarcastic man. More emails and general stories from the master of funny everyday life gone wrong stories. Can they be believed as 100% true? Of course not, but thats what make "fishing stories" so much fun to read.
I snickered thru this entire book, but towards the end I got a little bored with it. More of the same, but not entirely as funny throughout. Pick it up, read the bits about his fights with Holly, the lawyer issues and the lunchtime order, but know that it trails off a it at the end. Although, the last cat comic strip is definitely my favorite.
Again, this smartass cracks me up with his exchanges with neighbors, co-workers, and ski-shop owners. Has a bunch of emails not on the website. I really can't say anything about it, except if you are familiar with his website, or his other book "The Internet is a Playground" then you'll love this book.
This book was pretty funny. The first by David Thorne, "The Internet Is a Playground," was probably the funniest book I ever read. If this first was rated a 10 on my own humor scale, the sequel would probably get an 8. There's something about passive-aggressive, antagonistic behavior that I can appreciate and usually find hilarious.

“Instead of finding myself in the future, I traveled about fifty metres along the sidewalk at 200mph before finding myself in a bush. When asked by the nurse filling out the hospital accident reports 'Cause of accident?' I stated, 'time travel attempt' but she wrote down 'stupidity'.”
