This dynamic duel writing team bound for success…The writing team of Amos and Cassidy has taken me by surprise. It is hard enough for one author weave a creative story and transcribe it to words that will grasp the reader imagination and not let go; much less add a second jolt of creativity to the mix. However these two pull it off. Their writing style is so in sink that it’s almost seamless...more
Alana ~ The Book Pimp
Why?

WHYWHYWHY?

Okay. It's been a few days. I had to let the book sink in, stew, and marinate in my brain a bit to decide what I thought. I didn't want my impetuous reaction to the end to 'flavor' (too much) in my thoughts of the book overall.

I have to say... it's a fabulous ensemble cast in the book. An entire menagerie of characters (supernaturals and human) that were well written, intriguing and HAWT in many cases. Raven nearly makes me wish I could be a gay male just to say 'I tapped that.' Ap...more

Rose is feeling the need to leave the nest and explore life while she's still young after seeing what it can throw at you with her comatose mother being a constant reminder. Lucky to have a godmother in London she travels there with her bff Faye to stay in the spare room of Flo's house along with her two son's, one of which happens to be a werewolf.
She unwittingly befriends him and his pack, slowly getting drawn into their world until there's no turning back with her own unwanted secrets being r...more
Lee Anne - Give me a Good Romance
Crimson Midnight started off a little slow for me. I had a hard time getting into it. Once I did finally get into it, I couldn’t put it down. I think the reason I had a hard time getting into the story was because I kept getting confused.

Roman and Raven were difficult to separate in my mind and that created a problem for me. I also had a hard time because the story would jump to some new random person for a few paragraphs, then jump back to the original members we started with. It did become app...more

*I received a free e-copy of the book for an honest review*

Wow. I literally just finished this book, and I can say that I really did like it. The characters were well developed and the overall story was well thought out. I really like the various paranormal species and how they interact and while they have their own clans, groups, packs and whatnot, they all coexist fairly well. Well, the fey are sort of the exception, but I think they did it to themselves. I also do like how they stuck to the f...more

This is one of my non-stop till the end read. Enjoyed it immensely, the story drew me in right away. I wanted to find out the plot immediately, as soon as I learned of Rose's mum's illness I was making guesses at what could make her that way. Was it Supernatural? Will Rose find a cure? I've never been so anxious to get to the nitty-gritty of a story before. When the story got to the supernatural it really took off and was packed with action and mystery. Loved the characters, Rose was no shrinkin...more

SUMMARY (50 words or less)

This was recommended to me by a goodreads friend. I was so not disappointed. This was the kind of book that was hard to put down. There were a parade of characters, but they all fit. I hope to learn more about some. I just need to read the se...more

Urban Fantasy is my favourite genre to read. So after reading the summary, I was really psyched about this book. But sadly, Crimson Midnight by Amos Cassidy didn't really live to my expectations.

To be honest, there wasn't anything wrong in the book. The protagonist, Rose, was awesome. The dialogues and the witty banter were highly entertaining. And the storyline was more or less good. But after reading countless Urban Fantasy books, just 'good' failed to stand out.

Nothing about the story was gre...more

Crimson Midnight starts with Rose discovering her boyfriend in a compromising position in bed and deciding to move to London for a fresh start with her best friend, Faye, in tow. Right before she leaves, her comatose mother wakes up and warns her to “beware the shining stranger.” Not knowing how to interpret this, she goes ahead and...more

I would say more like 3.5 stars for me because I am still left half confused as to what the hell happened. Also, it felt like there was some disjointed parts where you knew it was two different people writing.

There were some scenes that I thought didn't really need to be there for the story, didn't move the plot along at all and I don't know why it was there. The marriage scene is one example. I still don't know what the hell Rose is. Still don't know why they did what they did to the fey. I do...more

Six years ago, 15 year old Rose was mugged. The kids were never caught. Since then the petite blonde had learned all about self defense and was sure she could take care of herself. Leaving home for the first time, Rose and her friend Faye, are moving to London. Rose is going to live with her godmother while Faye is renting rooms with several kids from university.

Rose meets and becomes friendly with several people including the brooding Harold, Kris the peace maker, Raven, Roman and his very stra...more

I apologize in advance if I talk in circles. I am still trying to wrap my head around this book. and to talk about it WITHOUT giving away the ending will be extremely difficult, because … well damn. Seriously. Damn.

This book has every supernatural creature, or at least the possibility of every supernatural creature, in it. Vampires (that don’t sparkle and cannot go in the sun), werewolves (that don’t have to change at the full moon, but have to change on a regular basis), demons (yeah, you can’t...more

From the very start, Crimson Midnight by Amos Cassidy captured my attention. We are introduced to Rose Carmichael. She’s had a few misfortunes. She was mugged as a teenager, causing her to withdraw from society for a few years, and grew up with a mother who’s considered to be in a “waking” coma. That was then. Now Rose teaches self-defense to those who need teaching. Her mother is still in a mental coma, but Rose has accepted that she may never know her. Adversity has made Rose a self-proclaimed...more

This book was reviewed for Musings of a bookworm as part of the tour for this book

I was approached by the authors to review this and be part of a tour and if I am totally honest I thought I was going too be dragging my way through a stilted story, well boy was I wrong!! Not only is this a really good story but it is the start of a series that I am now champing at the bit to get the next one to find out what happens. My only complaint about the book is, for me, the prologue is not necessary, it a...more

Crimson Midnight drew me in from the very beginning when Rose walks in on her boyfriend with another woman and punches him in the face. After that, I was pretty sure I was going to like her :)

Rose is eager to leave the country behind. She's ready to go somewhere new and be seen as someone new. So she decides to move to London to live with godmother and take a job at a local gym. Life in London is pretty good. She easily adjusts to her new job and home. Then, one night she is attacked and is intr...more

I received this as part of the ARR Urban Fantasy part of the Making Connections group on Goodreads. Overall I liked this book, it started out with a lot of promise and ended with a bang (albeit a What in the heck just happened ending), making me want more, but it was somewhat head scratch worthy. Some of the story lines seemed either forced or just under explained, the authors (Amos and Cassidy) had some great ideas for story arcs that didn't appear to go anywhere, perhaps I just missed somethin...more

The book started out with a lot of promise & ended with it also.

Rose, the main character of the book, has decided it's time to strike out on her own. She and her best friend Faye move to London where she has a job teaching self defense classes. Faye, whose father is very wealthy, is just along for the ride & bunks down with several other people while Rose moves in with a friend of the family.

While at Flo's (the family friend), she meets a cast of characters including Roman, Harold, &...more

After discovering her boyfriend cheating on her, Rose and her best friend move to London. Rose is staying with her mother's best friend. Rose's mother has been comatose since before her birth. Nobody can discover the reason.

Rose doesn't know that her new friends are supernatural. She has no idea that werewolves, vampires, and fairies really exist. She discovers she has some kind of supernatural talent when she is attacked by werewolves.

There are demons being summoned and people are disappearing....more

This book so close to perfect it's almost scarey. This book is about a girl named Rose. She's just moved in with her Godmother Flo and her two sons so she can start her new job as a self defense instructor in London. She also meets Roman (One of Flo's sons) and his group of friends who seem a bit odd but Rose seems to fit right in with them. But things don't go as planned, people are disappearing around London, Rose get's attacked and she's strug...more

Well, first of all I want to say that I appreciate the opportunity to have read this book; I received it through the RI&R program to read in exchange for a review. Crimson Midnight is about a young woman leaving her comatose mother and her father for a new life in London only to find herself as an unknown in the world of the supernatural. The plot is confusing albeit an interesting attempt to something original. The ideas are there however there seems to be no rhyme or reason until the end;...more

Disclaimer: The fact that the author has provided me a free copy of Crimson Midnight in exchange for an honest review has not affected my rating.

As the first adult urban fantasy novel I've read, I'm not quite sure what I was expecting - more mature situations? Maturer characters? In Crimson Midnight, Rose, who was mugged when she was fifteen, takes a new job in London as a self defense teacher in a gym. There, she discovers love, true friendship, and finds her own identity.

The best part of this...more

If I was not aware up front that this was a team effort between two writers, I would have been clueless. This story's flow was flawless. It really read like one voice.

I wasn't ready for how wide this large cast of supernaturals would be, and I tend to be reader who usually picks up novels without too many different paranormal communities interacting. Simply because there is too much to explain to the reader. Thankfully, this too was executed flawlessly, with lots of the same old same old history...more
