I died a little as I read this. From joy, sadness, excitement, frustration. This book made me feel everything as it played tug of war with my heart, but it was completely and utterly brilliant. Alex Andros: She is MY KIND of character! I love EVERYTHING about her, if I could choose to be any character it would be Rose from VA first and then Alex Andros next(lol). Her character kept me laughing and never bored through the entire book!

Lover Boys: Can I say I LOVED Seth more in this book! He is just so caring and funny to where I can't get enough of him! I love the connection between Him and Alex, it was so powerful and I am in love with their chemistry. Aiden.......He is so boring for me, I like him when he is sweet and all but he had no personality at all and I am bored with him at the moment. Come on Aiden spice it up with Alex alil more Please?

Master Plan/Story: Was AWESOME!! Armentrout knows how to write some juicy stories! I would definitely say this book was a page turner or screen turner for kindle because I couldn't put it down! Hats off to Jennifer! There alot of twist and turns in this book that are so unexpected and its bound to leave you with your jaw dropped to the floor!

Romance: Ohhhh Seth, I love you so much. I have fallen more in love with you and I wish you were mine. That is all :)

Action Packed: Too much for me to handle!! There was so much action I couldn't keep up, it was a whirl wind of action! I loved it and need more!

What Next?: What I want to see next is Alex, finally let go of Aiden OR some more hot scenes with Seth because I can't get enough of that!

Cover Love?: I LOVE these covers! They aren't fancy or flashy but they really fit with this series and I hope they keep them that way.

I can't wait for DIETY! I'm so excited to see what is going to happen with everyone after everything has happened! I wanna find out who her dad is and I feel like she might find out in the third book!

There is nothing quite like the experience when reading an Armentrout novel.

My Symptoms included;

-Stomach tied in a knot so tight it refuses to loosen till the very last sentence.
-Continuously released a breath I didn't realize I was holding.
-Felt the need to want to rip someones heart out and/or bang my head against a wall (depending on the scene).
-Cried frustrated tears of pure agony or annoyance.

I think, the whole book just made me forget how to breathe.

It's just perfect , okay? IT SIMPLY HAD EVERYTHING IN IT. Pure managed to make me laugh, cry, and feel hot all at the same time. And I am not even kidding.

Armentrout is one of those authors you ponder over. Her skilled writing and magical imagination leave you with a deep respect and admiration.

Pure was another outstanding contribution to the Covenant series. This book was like opening a gorgeously wrapped Christmas present. You know the kind where someone sneaky gives you a HUGE box and you have to keep opening up smaller and smaller boxes. Can Alex keep her hands off Aiden and Seth's hands off her while trying to protect those she loves?

My Review:

5 stars - a must read

So when it comes to Jennifer's writing, I am totally in love! Pure was better than Half-Blood and HB is on my favorite five list for 2011. Why is Pure better? Let's start with the plot. It's fast paced and unpredictable, at least for me. I didn't see most of it coming at all. I wish I could share so many examples of unique plot twists but I wouldn't spoil this read for anyone! I know the hints are there and a few I've seen after the fact but I have a feeling that the web started with HB and we aren't gonna see the whole picture until the last book. On example I think is safe to discuss is the villain in this story. While Alex's mom was the front person in HB, I don't think that's who was really pulling the strings. I spent a lot of time contemplating who the brains behind all the events in Pure was and came up with a list of only a few possibilities but really nothing. That level of writing is wickedly fabulous!

Favorite scenes included a trip to the zoo, Alex in a dress at a dance - seriously-, and a late night swim. Oh and there was one more that involved quite a bit of jealousy but I can't say more.

Jennifer's characters are another huge reason this book is so good. I love Alex. She's a perfect kick-ass, smart mouthed, rocking heroine. I love that she says what's on her mind. She jumps to defend those in need and asks questions later. No one needs to save her but she still longs for the perfect Aiden. What a hotty that boy is. He would do anything to help Alex but the hardest thing he has to do is stay away from her. Any relationship between them is totally forbidden so Aiden takes the high road but he isn't hiding his feelings from me. I can see how he feels about Alex. Then there's Seth. I have to admit that I didn't care for him in HB. Don't get me wrong, he was and is the perfect "match" for Alex. He is just as hard headed and reckless as she is. But I didn't and don't want anyone getting in the way of things with Aiden. But in Pure, I got to know Seth and fell for him and his protective ways. Let's just say that I'm still team Aiden but would be okay with Alex getting either guy and I don't normally feel that way in love triangles, yes it's a love triangle.

The world that Jennifer has created for this series has captured my heart. It combines some intriguing mythology, modern teenage struggles and ties it together with Jennifer's distinctive flare.

Moving on to the ending, um.... let's just say that I was VERY unhappy not to have Deity in my hands when I finished Pure. Of course, reading Pure early means all that longer to wait for Deity. I see a reread coming, don't you?

This book, this series is a MUST read for anyone who loves YA. I would stand in line to read ANYTHING that Jennifer writes. Pick this one up for sure. It's available April 3, 2012.

If you guys follow me for any length of time you know I’m a bit obsessive over Jennifer’s writing. You have no idea how excited I was to read this book. My two sentence review on Goodreads states: “Holy *blip blipedy blip* Jen is freaking fabulous...ya thats all you people get for now, and thats really all you need to know.” And I’m not kidding. What Jennifer began so cleverly in Half-Blood, she continues in Pure.

This book starts out where the first one ends. The relationships between all the characters are taken to a new level, the action (yes, even that kind of action) is ever present, and the storyline continues to grow. I can’t seriously talk about this book without wanting to give everything away.
Alex and Seth are pretty much joined at the hip and this puts strains on everyone. Alex is one of my absolutely favorite YA heroines. She’s real, strong, fearsome, and yet there is a side to her that’s just a little girl wanting to be loved. I love the contrast and Jennifer does it well. Throughout the whole book, Alex continues to grow and I love seeing her character develop.
Aiden, oh my freaking goodness AIDEN!!! Really, do I need to say anything else? No? I knew it, but I’m going to say things anyway. :) Aiden is one of my all time favorite male hero’s (notice a pattern here?). There’s so much about him that’s wonderful. He’s not only strong, hard working, honorable, sweet, kind individual but he’s flipping hot as well *fans self* The sacrifices he makes in Pure will blow your mind! His relationship with Alex is so sweet and heartbreaking I just want to hug him to pieces.
Seth is a huge part of Pure and you have to love and hate him at the same time. His relationship with Alex develops in a unique way, putting a strain on pretty much everything Alex thinks and does. There is so much between these two that you will not see coming. There are plot twist and new characters and things you that will leave you speechless.
Pure is pure awesomeness, pure greatness, pure piece of fabulous literature. Jennifer created a world that is unique and beautiful in its own way and characters that make you laugh, cry, and love them all. As a writer, Jennifer pushes me in my own work to create something as fabulous as this. If you guys haven’t read these books, I highly recommend it. This was truly Seth's book!
SETH... Oh God, Seth... I can't help but adore him. I really fell for Aiden in Half-Blood, and I still love him, but I think I am now "Team Seth" . It is hard to resist those hot bad boys. Seth is selfish, sarcastic, and moody narcissistic jerk, but when it comes to Alex, he's also caring, loyal, and protective. Seth was kind of a dickhead in Half Blood, but you get to see a whole different side of him in Pure. He is funny and he is very, very hot. Alex and Seth have a very entertaining love-hate relationship and the chemistry between them is huge. They are both funny, reckless, and hot-headed, though Aiden shows his temper a bit also. Seth cares for two people: himself and Alex. I love his macho, aggressive side, but I also love his vulnerable, loving side that he only shows to Alex. I want to slap him and kiss him in the same time.

AIDEN is your golden boy. He's strong, fierce, loyal, sweet and swoon-worthy. He's a genuine good guy. He's also a pure, which means he is forbidden to be with Alex, a half-blood. Aiden blows hot and cold and although he is tormented by his feelings for Alex, he only ends up hurting her more. I kinda got hurt when Aiden did that, but I guess it is for the best. I can only respect him more for his strong will. I may not like it, but I get it.

ALEX is absolutely a Kick Butt character! I like that she isn't perfect. She makes mistakes. She struggles with grief and their messed-up society. She feels guilty. She pushes the boundaries. She makes rash decisions. I love all of those things about her because they make her real. She is strong and yet vulnerable.

The scenes between Alex and Aiden were sweet, romantic and heartbreaking. The scenes between Alex and Seth were funny, tense, and smoking hot! I know that the predictable thing would be for Alex to end up with Aiden, but I want Seth to win. If he doesn´t win , I hope he will get his own story to tell.

In Pure, stricter rules are implemented on all half-bloods, and Alex comes to realize just how much her actions can lead to very serious consequences. I now know what it would feel like if I flicked my blender on 'puree', ripped my heart out, and tossed it in. I bow the the sheer awesomeness that is Jennifer Armentrout, because she is the reigning queen of heartbreak, torment, and completely unexpected stomach-twisting!!

Lord, I could NOT WAIT to get my hands on this book!!! I absolutely fell in love...more Finally we get to see more of this amazing series!! I flew through this in less than a day, and I went through such a roller coaster of emotions. I now know what it would feel like if I flicked my blender on 'puree', ripped my heart out, and tossed it in. Lord, I could NOT WAIT to get my hands on this book!!! I absolutely fell in love with Armentrout's writing with Obsidian, and I had a complete replay of those feelings when I read Half-Blood. Alex instantly became one of my all-time favorite heroines, easily making her way into my heart with her sassy attitude, pure emotions, and downright bad-assness! And I don't think it needs to be mentioned that I was head-over heals for Aiden from the moment I met him in this awesome story!!! So Pure was one of my most-anticipated sequel releases for 2012, and it did NOT disappoint!!!!

Pure begins with Alex back at the Covenant, trying to get back to normalcy after her ordeal at Lake Lure. Unfortunately, normal for her means dealing with a multitude of extra training sessions, putting up with Seth's torment, conflicting emotions, daimon attacks, avoiding trouble so she can stay on campus, still having to listen to Lea's ridicule, and a crushing heartbreak. Sounds easy, right?! LOL But Alex toughs it out (because she's awesome), despite being exhausted and under more stress than she knows what to do with.

Pure has so many twists and turns and suspense-filled scenes that I found it very hard to find a slow place in the story to take breaks from reading (my kids weren't happy, I blame Jennifer). Between the half-blood daimons and the threat of Seth and her harnessing their full powers when she awakens, Alex is gaining a mass of enemies (daimons, the Council, pures, and possibly someone she doesn't suspect...) that mean to do her harm. Alex went through so much in a short period of time in this book, there were honestly points where I wished I could just grab her out of the scene so she wouldn't have to face it! Lord, it was hard to see a character I love so much going through so much pain! ACK! I am so hopeful that Armentrout posts some of these scenes from Aiden and Seth's POV, because they will be EPIC!!!!

One thing I was not at all expecting from this book was Seth. He didn't do much for me in Half-Blood, I was so in love with Aiden that it didn't even phase me! Then Armentrout goes and turns Seth into this AMAZING character that melds so well with Alex, and makes Aiden (view spoiler) We see a LOT more of Seth in Pure, and we see so many more sides of him in the process. When Alex loses someone close to her, Seth is there for her in a way that I never would have expected, and it just melted my heart. He was so protective and loving with her that you couldn't help but fall for him. There are several really beautiful moments between him and Alex; some are sweet and tender, and some are just plain sexy!! And so now, I'm absolutely torn. WHY?! NO!!!! It doesn't help matters that Aiden is hurting along with Alex, though he hides it better than I wished he could. Oh, it was so easy with Half-Blood, and now no matter what happens I'm going to have my heart ripped in to pieces when this series ends. Just thinking about either of them losing Alex for good makes my chest ache, because Armentrout made both of them such captivating, beautiful, loving, sexy guys that deserve to get the girl. I may need therapy once all is said and done!!

Armentrout doesn't hold back when it comes to the creepy/disturbing factor with this series, and there were moments that were pretty gory. Thankfully, I didn't have to stomach my way through another scene like the one in Half Blood when (view spoiler). But Pure has plenty of action with Armentrout's brilliant detail, all leading up to a massive daimon attack where Alex is just phenomena!l!! Love the scenes where she gets to be truly bad-ass!

Pure ends with a bang, too, and it leaves your heart cracking, racing, and sputtering into numbness along with Alex. It's been a full day and I still can't get these characters out of my head long enough to stop dwelling on the ache in my chest! Even so, I am so glad the wait is finally over for this book; diving back into the Covenant series was everything I had hoped it would be and then some, and now we have the torturous wait for Deity. In the mean time, fans of the series will be eating up Pure, it's unforgettable!!

Jennifer Armentrout does it again. She has become one of my all-time favorite YA authors. First her Lux series, now this. I seriously want to read everything she puts out. There's just something about her writing, her characters, & her delivery to create a I-cannot-put-this-down-for-the-life-of-me type of story. This addition to the Covenant Series was no exception.

I completely love this second book in the Covenant Series.

We pick up with Alex back at the Covenant after she and Caleb survived their ordeal with the Alex's crazy daimon mother. Alex keeps having nightmares and trouble sleeping from all the horrible memories. The ability to make half-bloods into daimons that can go around undetected, looking no different than any other half-blood, has every one on edge. When more attacks are reported without catching the perpetrator, everyone is casting a suspicious eye to everyone else. We also have a scheduled visit to the council, so that Alex may explain what happened with her mother and the other daimon attacks. So the tension is ratcheted up to maximum levels.

This was action packed with never a dull moment. Plus, we get many scenes of steaminess with not just one hot guy, but two! After reading Half-Blood, I was completely and solidly Team Aiden, I thought nothing could shake that. But then Jennifer has to go and write Seth totally hot, obsessive, and caring of Alex. Or so it seems. This was truly Seth's book! There was a lot more of him in this book than Aiden. All that being said, I'm pretty much still Team Aiden. I don't think Alex will end up with Seth when this story is finished and I don't want to start hoping for a pairing that will not end up happening. (view spoiler) For the most part, I loathe love triangles, but here I'm shocked to discover that this one wasn't horrible. In this installment, I ended up caring about Seth. I hope he doesn't get hurt in all of this, yet at the back of my mind, I'm suspicious. I feel there is a lot that we are kept in the dark about him. And I fear his reasons for wanting something with Alex are selfish. We see Aiden constantly struggling with his feelings for Alex, understandably so. If anything gets out about these two, it would mean the loss of everything for Alex.

I found myself frustrated with Alex's actions many times in this story. Her reckless actions lead to some very serious and sad consequences. Add to that, Alex is playing right into the hands of the Pures who would like nothing more than to put her into servitude, and control her for good. I hope we see some character growth and maturity from her in the coming novels.

In this book we get to see the true plight of the Half-Bloods who were not fortunate enough to train as Sentinels, and end up in a life of servitude. They are completely enslaved, and treated as a second class, which to put it mildly, was disturbing.

I'm left with so many questions, and a few theories at the end of this installment. One big question I have is: Why are Pures and Half-Bloods not allowed to be together? In a question and answer video-chat I watched of Jennifer Armentrout, she stated that there IS a reason. Jennifer said the reason will be revealed in Deity. I hope this reason can somehow be fixed because if not, the prospects of Alex and Aiden being together are very dim. I also have questions on what the oracle has stated from both Half-Blood and Pure, such as: Who is the one "playing both sides"? Who will be "revealed to be the strongest"?

I guess we'll have to wait until October/November (not sure which month it's releasing anymore) to find out!

Alex is still just as kick-ass as she was in the first book. The same spontaneous, impulsive but lovely, brave and adorable heroine. And I still positively love her for that. Though there were lots of things that happened both wonderful and devastating which made her confused, hurt and all it also contributed a lot in developing her character. Realizations and understanding came to her as she experienced all of it. Though I may not have been happy with some of her decisions and choices (for some personal reasons!XD) I still really admire her and she's becoming more of an awesome character.

So now, the boys. Oh yeah, I guess I wouldn't be talking about them because it would only eventually lead to the romance aspect in this sequel. So I guess let's get it straight. Alright, to be honest I was freaking devastated! Jennifer gave me all the right reasons to love Seth, and well, it did made me love him. Boy, who wouldn't? He's cool, arrogant, sarcastic, but also sweet and caring and not to mention his breathtaking, swoon-worthy, jaw-dropping, mouth-watering looks. Oh man, he's totally my kind of jerk! And I definitely went a little gaga over him but - yeah there's a big BUT - I just can't love him enough to like him for Alex. I like Seth a lot, really but if you're gonna ask me who I want Alex to end up with, I am absolutely in Team Aiden. And to explain why I was devastated, I was deprived of Aiden here! There were so little moments between him and Alex and it wasn't even at all that swoony. And even though I enjoyed and appreciate most of the Seth highlights in here, that pool scene just killed me! It was hot and steamy and all but I can't fully appreciate it because it was breaking my heart. It was frustrating to keep on waiting for Aiden moments when all that was coming were Seth moments and it was all sweet, funny, and swoon-worthy!

I do not hate Seth for making a move with Alex and liking her, for Alex to made that decision, nor Aiden for keeping on pushing Alex away. I understand everything, their feelings, the situation and the danger. But it was just really hard not to feel bad. So yeah, Jennifer, you're definitely awesome. Its very rare for me to be so affected by a book this big. After reading it, it was all I keep on thinking - possibilities, theories, what ifs, Aiden, Aiden, Aiden! - up until now and the days to come. It will consume me for days, that I am sure, just like what Obsidian did to me. LOL!

Sometimes I wish Aiden and Alex could just run away! Haha! I imagine that someone will discover what Alex did on the last part and how Aiden tried to help her to cover that up and they would run away! Yeah, sounds pretty desperate of me. But boy, I am desperate! *sigh* Anyway, please don't mistakenly take my devastation over the romance aspect as a bad thing. It was mostly my personal opinion and feelings. I would still definitely highly recommend this! There were great and thrilling parts that I absolutely enjoyed and there were moments, other than the romance, that squeezed my heart. It was a very good read. Jennifer knows how to write a killer story. Haha! I am definitely looking forward for Deity! Please come fast November! 9 months is too long. :((

I think I know that necklace Aiden was wearing and what "agapi" means too! *giggles* ♥ And Seth really reminds me of Dameon, they'll definitely explode if they ever meet. lol!

What makes it even harder is he seems to feel the same way but since he isn't like other Pures, he leaves Alex alone, well tries has hard as he can. What makes it hard enough though is when he tells her she is ready, one minute she is training with Aiden and than not so much. What stinks is that she first had to split her time with Seth and Aiden and since because she is getting better, all of a sudden its with the class and who else but the annoying Seth. To make matters worse though is Alex is summoned and has to repeat what happened to her when she came across her mother. But when strange things happen to Alex while at court its hard enough not making yourself look bad. Especially since she doesn't have the power everyone is afraid of. What she says doesn't paint the prettiest picture for her, and because of many occurrences involving her during her stay at court, seem to make up the court decision much more easier.

With someone wanting Alex out of the picture, its hard to think who would want and half-blood/ Apollyon gone. With Seth's help Alex is able to keep out of trouble but for how long and with Alex going through mazes its hard enough trying to figure out who is behind everything Alex is being accused of. Many fingers are pointed and even though Alex isn't a Pure doesn't mean she is behind everything. Its hard to really enjoy the higher court either, many would think though Alex is a key to everything.

I really enjoyed this, it seemed every step took could lead to other questions. Alex is gaining more and more attention and because of her affections towards a Pure is against the law, she has just one more thing standing in the way of her being with Aiden. Of course with her getting closer to Seth its kinda hard not to see him in a different light, he was able to bring me in. Since reading this I've been trying to figure out what is to happen, and of course with an ending like that its hard not draw some pictures in my mind. So looking forward to Deity which is out later this year. Who said 2012 isn't going to be a kick ass year, especially when an author like Jennifer its hard not be swooned in and of course wanting the days to any release date draw closer. Jennifer draws in the audience leaving us all in book coma, waiting is the only thing that draws the coma and once the book is in your hands its devour time. Jennifer is awesome like that leaving the reader never wanting to get to that dreadful last page. So yeah i need my next JLA fix pronto.

In Pure, Alex is not only battling her demons in the aftermath of her mom’s death, but also the Council’s impending trial over her involvement in the events that went down in Gatlinburg is weighing on her in a harsh way. She’s training harder than ever as her Awakening approaches, and as each day goes by, her relationship with Aiden and Seth becomes more and more complicated. Right before her trip to the Council, daimons attack is the Covenant and just when Alex thought she’d lost so much, this event proves how difficult the road ahead is turning out to be.

There’s so much to say about this book that I surely can’t cover everything in one short review, so let me pick a few things that stood out for me.

Okay, first let me start off with this whole love triangles business. Well I’ve developed a low tolerance for them. I know they are an inherent part of YA Paranormal, but I’m surely not the only one to admit they’ve becoming annoying and predictable even borderline tiresome, right? Soooo…. excuse me while I kick myself for fan-girling over the Alex, Aiden, Seth triangle. I.AM.HOOKED!! And I’m declaring TEAM SETH right now! That’s right!

Second, I love.love.love Seth’s character. He’s arrogant, funny as hell, arrogant, sensitive, arrogant, squee-worthy, oh and did I mention arrogant? HA! I love that about him. I really enjoyed the moments between Alex and Seth, they are witty and the chemistry between these two can’t be ignored. I’m not stupid to deny he’s positioned to lose this triangle battle, so I’m making my plea right now… Jennifer Armentrout, please, please, please Seth FTW!!

Okay enough of that, if you can’t tell by now, I love this series. There’s action, intrigue, romance that’s all tied to a lore that’s uniquely Armentrout’s by design. I’m not extremely well versed in mythology and all that gods business, so I find myself entertained by her storytelling. She’s in control of this journey and I’m fully on board for the adventure!

Finally, I can’t wait to figure out who the baddie(s) are. My guesses are floundering all over the place. I have absolutely no clue who is trying to stop Alex’s Awakening. One moment I think it’s Leon, then Laadan, sometimes I feel it’s Lucien. Oh my gods! At one point I even thought it was Seth just because of a pointed “calculated” look he delivered. Paranoid much? Yeah, I say so! But that’s what makes this series exciting for me and I can’t wait for more. Fun and addicting! More please...(less)

Oh boy! Words cannot express how much I am addicted to this series (along with anything else Jennifer writes).
As much as I liked Daimon and loved Half-Blood, Pure was even better. Sometimes novels have that second-book-syndrom or whatever it's called, when the sequel just isn't as good as the first book, but boy oh boy Pure doesn't suffer from it.

4.5 stars - This book may not have been the best book ever written, and it's certainly not without it's flaws, but I don't care. I LOVED it because it stirred so much emotion out of me.

I will say I was a bit disappointed there wasn't much action in this book - I guess really only the attack with Lea and Caleb and the scene at the end. But Armentrout kind of made up for it through the hot training sessions. I LOVE Alex. She's a spunky hot head who has a knack for getting in trouble. There are times I want to scream at here, "What the HELL do you think you're doing?!?" BUT contrary to many main characters written like her, I did not find her irritating or foolish at all. I can't really put my finger on it, but I thought her character was well written, and even though she frustrated the hell out of me sometimes, she didn't annoy the crap out of me either.

And the guys. What can I say about the guys. I love them both, although I tend to favor Seth over Aiden just a TINY bit. But I know when it's all said and done, Armentrout will probably write her with Aiden. Still, Seth is a great character - though probably not right for Alex, but that doesn't mean he's not right for me! He was portrayed when he was first introduced in book 1 as an ass, but he had already started growing on me by the end of the first book. In this, he was just always there for Alex, and I found his attitude and banter a real turn-on - very much like Daemon in Obsidian.

As for Aiden, who CAN'T love Aiden. He's just an all around great, wonderful guy. However, I just want to shake him and tell him, "C'mon snap out of it already." I know, I know, he has a lot at stake, but sometimes the whole I'm going to make a sacrifice and try to be a martyr and not be with you is only alluring to a certain point. But then again, if he gave in now, we probably won't have much else to read, now would we.

I can't wait for the next book - even though I'm still torn between the two guys. Anyway, Armentrout does it again. Like I said before, the story itself isn't exceptional, but Armentrout no doubt has a knack for writing the interaction and dialogue with the characters that make you really connect with them, and THAT is what makes a great book.(less)
