Dire Wants picks up where Dire Needs left off, with the Dire wolves and their Were allies fighting against the Were Trappers and the demon possessed witch Seb and his Were minions in a race to save the world.

Stray, the newest and youngest of the Dire pack and his estranged older brother Killian are 2 parts of a prophecy that could either save all of the wolves and humans or utterly destroy everything. Together with a powerful witch who doesn't yet know that she IS a witch, they could defeat the Dire Ghost Army that Seb has called up AND save Jinx's twin brother Rogue from the curse he's been under. The problem is that all of this takes trust on everyone's part, and after the tortured histories these wolves have, trust doesn't come easily.

Dire Wants is Stray and Kate's story, but it also delves into the disfunctional family workings of Stray and Killian, as well as Jinx and the rest of the Dire pack, not to mention the Were brothers Cyd and Cain and their relationship with the FBI agent Angus Young. It also gives some background on Seb's lost love and introduces what previously would have been a very unlikely ally.

The ETERNAL WOLF CLAN series is very deep. It's a complex world with lots of different pieces, a plethora of characters who each play their respective roles, and several smaller storylines that integrate to create the plot as a whole. With that said, while Stephanie did a great job of recapping in Dire Wants, I would strongly suggest that you read the Dire Warning eNovella and Dire Needs before you take the plunge with Dire Wants.

For the sake of a complete review, I have to mention that there are some homosexual scenes in this installment. Stephanie did a beautiful job of writing them in and I was incredibly excited to see where she took that particular sub-story. Even if you're not generally a fan of m/m romance, this is so much more than that. It's the strugglings of a somewhat forbidden relationship, regardless of sex, and I'm really looking forward to reading more as the series progresses.

LITERAL ADDICTION gives Dire Wants 4 Skulls. I'm very eager to see where this series goes next!

This is the second of Stephanie Tyler’s Eternal Wolf Clan books. Poor Stephanie seems to have trouble getting her series’ past three books. I can’t tell why because I absolutely love all her books. But I’m reviewing this with hopes to get enough people to try out her stuff so we can get a few more in this series.

For an author who started on military suspense romance, Tyler clearly knows what she’s doing when writing paranormal romance. The Dire Wolf world-building in the previous book Dire Needs, was excellent and this time we get more details on the wider world not just the main Dire Wolf pack.

Our heroine Kate is a witch. Since discovering Seb’s treachery in book one and Rogue’s capture, the clan have been looking for a powerful witch to help them fight back. Stray rescues Kate from a group of young Were boys who were all set to attack her, and later when he goes to fetch her he interrupts Leo Shimmin’s attack to take her captive. Kate at first doesn’t believe she’s a witch as her mother was a violent horrible woman who beat her for the sign of the devil which hadn’t appeared. Because of this ingrained fear of being a witch she refuses to admit it for a while, until she realises her ritual to call a familiar worked, and brought her Stray.

Stray is eaten up with fear over whether he and his brother Killian will end up fulfilling the prophecy about them and destroy the world. And with the stupid abuse his parents and clan put him through because they didn’t heed the Elders message to look after the Dire’s with abilities, who could blame him.

To be honest between the two books, you have to wonder how dumb the regular Dires are because the Elders are pretty powerful and pretty clear with their messages and yet they still ignore it.

Stray and Kate are a unique match, certainly not who I’d have picked for the other but they work together. The only downside is that the Elder pretty much told Stray no he couldn’t mate Kate and yet after the performed the ritual’s first step anyway Kate received a glyph of Stray’s wolf. So are they mated or not? Will the Elders punish them for it? Not sure, but I hope it gets cleared up more in book three. And can I say I appreciate that not a single mortal/immortal pairing has happened in this series?

Storyline wise because the main plot of the series is actually fairly separate from Stray and Kate which is nice as they play an important part, bringing in a witch to the good side, helping to wake up Rogue and getting rid of Seb, mostly. I did really like the deeper look at Seb’s state of mind and I suspect we’re getting set up for him to have some sort of redemption later down the track.

The Dires and Weres deal with the Dire Wolf Ghost Army from book one, the vampires are kind of brought into the fold and Jinx’s story is very interesting

The FBI agent Angus Young from book one is brought deeper into the supernatural world which stops him from going after Harm for the coincidental deaths. I liked that he didn’t take either the weretrappers or the Were’s story for granted. The way that he planned to play both sides was definitely ambitious, especially since he was willing to kill a presumably innocent Were to get in with the trappers. I liked the subplot between Cain and agent Young, which both intrigued and surprised me at turns and I hope to see it develop over the series.

Also the way that the pack is tight-knit yet not a buddy-buddy thing is an interesting dynamic you don’t really see a lot of in PNR these days. I will be picking up Dire Desires when I can and despite the horrible badness of this review I encourage you to do the same.

There is a LOT going on in this book. This is the second book in the Eternal Wolf Clan series (there's also a prequel novella), and, while I wasn't lost without having read the first book, I think the first book probably sets up the series and should be read before this one. I was surprised by how much was going on in this world and the numerous different character storylines. The overall story line was great. I personally liked all the different characters POV and story lines. I felt confused at times though. Like how did they get from one point to another. I was also confused when Stray would say Kate felt one way, and then Kate would agree, but earlier on she didn't feel that way... So, how/ why did she feel that way. One night Katie’s world is turned upside down and a man named Stray is there to protect and guide her into the new world she discovers.

Stray is a Dire Wolf, a supernatural who can shift to a wolf, has special abilities and is immortal. Stray is part of a small pack in the U.S. and has kept his former clan in Greenland a secret from his brothers. Stray and his older brother Killian have been part of a prophecy their entire lives and have tried to stay apart to make sure it doesn’t come true. When Stray rescues Katie he immediately recognizes that she is a witch and he is her familiar. Stray feels a pull towards Katie that is usually only for mates and he will protect the powerful witch even if it means going up against other Dires.

I wanted to love this book, heck I would have been happy with just liking it but unfortunately neither of those options happened. There is a lot going on in Dire Wants and personally it was too much. Every single character gets to have a POV and there are so many storylines and subplots that it can get confusing and sometimes boring. I wanted to like Stray and Katie but I never felt that I had the chance and every time I started to get into their story it switched to someone else and the momentum was gone.

As I mentioned I wanted to like Stray and Katie but it took forever for anything to happen between them and I got annoyed with how Stray was so hot and cold with her. Katie only learns she’s a witch after Stray informs her of it but he and the other Dires hold it against her for the better half of the book. These two also pick some very weird times to act on their feelings for one another and it took even longer for Stray to admit his feelings for Katie even though he shares them with everyone else.

There is so much going on in this book that I felt like keeping a list of my own going just to keep everything straight. I understand plot lines need to be set up for future books but this was excessive and then add in all the POVs and I was too overwhelmed to enjoy the book. I am a huge fan of shifter books but this one fell flat and I almost DNFed it a couple of times.

I recommend starting this series from the beginning because there is way too much going on for someone to just jump right in and not be confused. I personally won’t be continuing on with this series, even though I would like to read about the woman who snags Vice. I was very disappointed with this book overall. (less)

I love Stephanie Tyler. Her books are well written with interesting characters and stories. Having said that, there is a lot going on in this series and it can be a little difficult to keep all the details straight. I thought she did a great job in this one bringing you up to speed without repeating needless information and adding the glossary was a big help. Man...this book was hard to finish and I am SHOCKED by this! I loved the 1st book of this series SO much and couldn't wait for this installment to come out this fall. What a disappointment! When I first heard about this series, I was captivated by this concept. I think I’ve had a thing for werewolf bikers since I read Shelly Laurenston’s Magnus Pack. I found that the first book in this series had a lot of world building and background information about who the dires were and all that, so I was looking forward to this one so we could get to the really good stuff.

Except I’m not sure this book got quite to that level. It was a bit of a rollercoaster for me, of liking and stalling and getting excited about it and stalling. Maybe it was the pace of the story, or maybe the fact that I felt in a way Kate was using Stray (she even makes him her familiar…accidentally).

Stray, in and of himself, is delicious. He’s a wonderful hero with a tortured past and a lot of heartache. He’s just been reunited with his long lost brother. His true family, the Dires, are under attack and the only choice they now have lies in the hands of a witch who doesn’t know she’s a witch, doesn’t want her powers and ohh…happens to be his mate. You can’t help but love him.

Kate on the other hand I wasn’t completely sold on. She’s an okay heroine, a little feisty and at least she had a little common sense. I get that she’s lived her life not knowing how to deal with the things she does and the powers she has. I just wasn’t sold on HER connection with Stray.

There’s quite a bit of action thrown in this book and less world building, which suited me just fine. But like I said before, it felt that the pace wasn’t exactly what I wanted and after I was very into to the book (either because of smexy things happening or action of the other kind) then it would take a slope down.

This is still a great series, I just find that the concept is not quite developed to its full potential yet. But what can I say, Ms. Tyler knows how to write a sinfully hot hero! All the guys in the Dire pack are very interesting and I have to confess that I was very into the parts about Jinx. He’s really opened up a can of worms, huh? I love that he now has a vampire roommate and their interactions are hilarious. I have to read more about them.

I also enjoyed that we get some insight into Rifter and Gwen. They’re not the alpha couple that after their book, they go into hiding, coming out only to bark orders. They were involved in the story and we got to peak back into their relationship. I like how that keeps the story connected.

I can’t wait to read more about the bad boys in this series and seeing them fall.

There are 6 Dire wolves and they need a witch to help him in a battle
their king is mated but no one else
Stray saves a woman from an attack...
and he is drawn back... Kate is a psychic she can read minds
but she is really a witch ... she just does not know it...
Surrounding characters are interesting and there are ongoing storylines that make me curious

This series seems to really drag on. I mean how long did it take Kate to finally truly accept who she was? The end was great but the first 75 - 80% was confusing and um.... A nice way to say this anyone? Well it was boring.

What I liked:
Killian and Stray! I love family bonding and especially brother bonding.
Rogue. He's very intriguing so far.
The fact that they're Direwolves

I read the excerpt for Dire Desires and I'm truly hoping that it progresses better than 1 + 2. They all start good...more

I didn't skip or skimp on any of the pages, and I still felt lost. I now literally know how an Alzheimer's patient feels. I can't understand how readers are giving this book and series high marks. For me, this is it and I will no longer continue with this series.

I really wish the next book was out, because so many things weren't answered and new characters added that I'd really like to read about and if the author wanted to add a little diversity in her characters I wouldn't complain. :-)

I love this book! I think I will buy the first book. Kate and Stray belonged together. I wonder if his brother will find some one. I am glad i won this book. :D
