A new enchanting historical romance from a “superb storyteller” (Booklist) and New York Times bestselling author featuring a handsome, brooding Earl who finds himself drawn to his prim and proper housekeeper.

Maximillian Burke has always prided himself on being the man every mother would want her daughter to marry. But after his scoundrel of a brother makes off with Max’s b

I have been on a 2 month bender of YA and contemporary adult romances. What brought me back to historicals? Two words….Teresa Medeiros.
I have been waiting for this novel for a whole year since I read the first book of this series The Pleasure of Your Kiss (Burke Brothers, #1) by Teresa Medeiros. My wait was not in vain. I pre-ordered this from Amazon and when it came on my Kindle….

I will fully disclose that I am biased when it comes to Teresa Medeiros as I own all of her books.

ALL. Of. Them.

So, reviewing her latest book will be like a soccer mom watching her

Now my review with SPOILERS!!

I searched far and wide on GR for a review that would tell me WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THIS BOOK?? I had a guess and felt pretty confident that I was right. But I needed to know. I always NEEDED to know. So before I had time to finish the book, I combed through reviews after reviews, hoping to find someone who was kind enough to "spoil the book" for me.

People hinted at "the mystery", and nobody wrote any details. I was going nuts!!

So I said to myself, I would do

Let's get straight to the point-- Maximillian Burke, Earl of Dravenwood *deserved* a better story than this- period. After waiting a year for this story to soothe my tattered heart for Max after Clarinda left him at the alter for his brother in book 1... reading this book continued to be an *exhausting* waiting game.

In the end, it was a charming story, but not wonderful. The *potential* was there for an awesome book:

Max has been left at the altar by his childhood friend who he loved, a woman he thought loved him back, but he knew deep down she loved his brother more than anything. She leaves Max for his brother Ash and now Max is the talk of the town. To get away from gossip and to just wallow, he heads for Cadgwyck Manor, a rundown home that will give him some solitude to lick his wounds. What he wasn’t expecting was to be heading to a manor that’s ru

The Pleasure of Your Kiss was one of my top reads of 2012 and I couldn't wait to read Max's story in The Temptation of Your Touch . The wait was definitely worth it because I loved every moment. It had everything I want from a romance; an intriguing plot, unforgettable characters, delicious sensuality and wonderful humour.

Teresa Medeiros's writing is so evocative, emotive and passionate...

There are books, that once you've finished reading, would either make you feel meh, or just sigh in satisfaction. This one, to me, is the latter. Le sigh!

I've read the first installation of the Burke brothers books - towards the end, i felt really sorry for Max. This book really gave him the HEA he deserves.

Story started off in a good pace. There's mystery, suspense and a general feelgood to the whole storyline. Good, responsible and starchy Max has now become quite the opposite - he was jilted

Fun book. Max has been running wild ever since his fiancee jilted him to marry his brother. He'd always been the good brother, but now he just doesn't care. When he finally goes a bit too far, he heads off to the furthest piece of property the family owns. All he wants is to be left alone to wallow in his misery. He arrives to find a manor in disrepair, rumors of a ghost that drives almost everyone away, the oddest group of staff he's ever seen, and a housekeeper he can't keep off his mind.

Lover of Romance
Maximmilian Burke has always known who and what he was, and for years he was in love with a woman, who abandoned him at the altar to marry his brother. Ever since the relationship between himself and his brother has been strained to say the least. London has become tedious and needing a change in his life, he decides to head out the the countryside to Cadgewyck Manor, and when he first sees the manor, he think he may be going crazy, but he feels a kinship to the crumbling building. When he arriv ...more

I was not expecting much from this series. After reading 3/4 of the first book, The Pleasure of Your Kiss, I abandoned it. Seriously, I could not comprehend the book because it was different from Teresa Medeiros's usual fare. And to think that the sultan had a harem makes me cringed. I seriously do not like that book.

And if anyone knows me, I am an ardent fan of Teresa Medeiros, since I was a teenager. I have read all her books except a few. Of course, I always have high expectation for her book

I love it when historicals address an identifiable modern relationship problem. With this one, it sounds like the hero is a Nice Guy (TM) who has one of those Thwarted Nice Guy (TM) tantrums where he decides that all girls want assholes so decides to be an asshole for a while. If he complains about being put into the friendzone and consults the Comté de Roissy for advice on negging girls at Almack's I will never stop laughing.

Basically Me 24/7: I do so feverently believe internal and external conflicts in late Londonian Regency era novels are preposterously complicated to construct.

Okay, so apparently I’m a weirdo too, but you got the joke. I like using my brain meat to overanalyze fake people who exist on a page. Diagnosing all those elements t

After being jilted at the altar, Lord Maximillian Burke banishes himself to his family’s most remote holding. Cadgwyck Manor is a crumbling heap of angry stones on the Cornish coast. It is the perfect place to nurse his wounded pride until the history of the place calls to him, especially the story of the unfortunate debutante who has flung herself from the cliffs after being betrayed by her love.

Cadgwyck has a strange sort of housekeeper in Anne Spencer. She spends her days doing her best to ch

I was really looking forward to this one after the teaser in The Pleasure of Your Kiss. I was excited to see Max, who was so proper and stuff in that one, go all dark and dangerous. Well, that teaser, the beginning of this story, was about as dangerous as he got. It wasn't really what I'd been thinking after reading that teaser, but it ended up being pretty darn good I thought. Max never did get quite as bad as I was wanting, but I still liked him. He was sufficiently moody and all that. I liked ...more

When Maximillian Burke, Earl of Dravenwood and heir to a dukedom, finally stopped being cordial after being left at the altar by the woman he's loved for most of his life, who had in turn married his younger brother. Ever a danger to himself and others, Max decides his dark moods would be better endured in his most remote holding, Cadgwyck Manor. Nothing, however, would have prepared him for this crumbling, haunted (literally and figuratively) place, meeting his soul mate in a seemingly ironclad ...more

This is book two of the Burke Brothers series by Teresa Medeiros. I didn’t really want to read book one of this series,The Pleasure of Your Kiss until I saw the blurb of this book. He’s the stuffy boring guy that all the interesting Regency girls are not interested in marrying, because look it’s a rake who wants to reform! You know the other guy, the patient sweet guy who in the other Regencies are running to Gretna G

Teresa Medeiros used to write books set in a wide variety of times and places and I have to admit that when she started setting everything in 19th century England, I stopped reading quite as avidly. However, her latest series sounded like it might be a bit different from much of what is on the market, so I was curious to pick up The Temptation of Your Touch. Books set in 19th century England are a dime a dozen, so I can't say this one had a unique setting, but it's solidly written and the storyl ...more

I just loved this book! After reading The Pleasure of Your Kiss I couldn’t wait for its sequel featuring the older Burke brother, Maximillian. This book did not disappoint. What is interesting about this one, compared to Ms. Medeiros’ other books, this has a touch of gothic in it, which makes it fun and mysterious. Unfortunately, I figured out the twist at the end about 100 pages from the ending, but I was very happy how everything turned out. (view spoiler) ...more

Oh my goodness. Why haven't I ever heard of this wonderful author before? This was so different from the historical romances I have read recently. I knew what was happening, but the interaction between characters were so enthralling I didn't care. I loved the whole book and was very surprised by some of the revelations as everything was wrapped up. I did think the end was a tiny bit rushed, but all in all I am thrilled to have a new good author to fill the gap as I wait for a few other books to ...more

Misturou personagens secundários fascinantes e conseguiu me manter grudad

After his fiancee left him at the altar to marry his brother, Maxmillian Burke wanted to be left alone. Moving from busy London to Cadgwyck Manor in Cornwall seemed like a good idea. But when he arrives, he finds the estate is run down, the servants are lazy, and the nearby villagers claim there is a ghost. Housekeeper Anne Spencer wastes no time telling Max about the death of the beautiful Angelica who is said to haunt the manor. While Max sees Angelica's portrait and is intrigued by the story, ...more

I was really looking forward to reading this book but I was a little disappointed. I liked the attempt at a ghost story but it was obvious early on what exactly was happening. I expected Max to with a different kind of heroine-I can't decide between someone meeker or stronger. I really liked the ending and although I still don't like Anne and Max as a couple, I did enjoy how the ghost story played out.

Delightful! Kudos, Teresa! I loved this book. Altho, it was a bit predictable it certainly didn't take anything away from the story. The ending was wonderful and I adored the epilogue.

(view spoiler)

I loved reading about Clarinda and Ash and the delightful, Charlotte.

Great story!
