Penny and her friend Victoria, worry about a new nail and tanning salon opening up in their Welsh village and taking business away from their own Llanelen Spa. Delightful small town businesswoman, artist and sleuth Penny Brannigan finds a body and recognizes the victim from the manicure that Penny herself had given the girl. There's something disturbing about the girl's mother, a woman who has moved into the local manor with the intent of starting a manicure and tanning salon to compete with Penny's spa. Penny is also concerned for her beloved dog, since a lot of dogs in the small town of Llanelen are disappearing. Pieces come together a bit too conven...more

A very well crafted, well written cozy mystery that remains true to the strictest definition of a cozy. This is not an assembly line run-of-the-mill plot; it's obvious when reading it that the author spent a lot of time crafting this book, as well as the previous books in this series. I'd readily recommend this series and book to cozy readers; especially those who prefer their reads without language, sex, or overt violence.

Having said all of that, I'll most likely not continue this series myself...more

Another good book in this series. I had missed the publication of the last one and so I read it and this one back to back. Sometimes that would be too much of a good thing, but not with this author. I enjoy the mystery, but also her description of Wales and the life of this town are really interesting. I think each book is getting better than the last.

What's not to love with a title like this? This is a "Penny Brannigan Mystery" which leads me to believe there are others. I am jealous of Penny and her manicure giving, murder solving escapades! Why can't I ever find a dead body when I'm walking my dogs...? (sigh).

Light mystery set in northern Wales. Very easy entertaining read. Fourth in the series starring Penny Brannigan who runs a spa in small town. All the books are good.
Caroline Ingvaldsen
The fourth Penny Brannigan mystery has the picturesque Welsh setting and quirky characters that appealed in the earlier titles but the plotting falters.
Kathleen

The latest in a series, this mystery is a bit darker than previous ones but still enjoyable to read about characters and their evolving lives.

A little slow going but at least I didn't have to bleep out half of the text because of bad words or sexual content. Refreshing.

new author for me--like the Welsh setting, enjoyable read.
Janice Williams
