This book is an amazing guide for those looking for more than a Wicca 101 book. It briefly goes over the history of Neo-Paganism (from ancient Pagans, the Burning Times, to present). It also goes over types of divination, how important it is to become involved and choosing a specialty.
All of these topics aren't examined in great detail. This is more of a study guide then an in depth book. Each chapter ends in a recommended reading section, and while I don't think it's necessary to read every bo

One word of advice, the topics within this book aren’t discussed at length so don’t stop your advancement with this book. Topics like the history of Western Occultism cannot be given full attention and justice with three pages only. Take your learning into your own hands by using this volume as a catalyst to self-study. Delve into each topic by reading several books (the author lists numerous recommended books, and websites, at the end of each chapter) and also trying your hand at getting some e ...more

This is a FANTASTIC edition for those in the Craft that are looking for true answers, and not the "shlock" that's out there today. Comprehensive information in each chapter breaks everything down for you, showing you the ins/outs of different methods and traditions, and points you in the right direction on what books to read and what to avoid. A "must have" for the serious practictioner!

The would-be reader of this book might have a better idea of what it's about if the subtitle read A Guidebook to the Study of Advanced Wicca. In essence, this is a study guide, not an actual instruction manual as most of the Wicca 101 books are.

Lipp's book is divided into three main sections: "The Evolution of Modern Witchcraft," "History of Western Occultism," and "Wiccan Practice." In each chapter, Lipp chooses a subject and talks about it briefly. She also discusses several books for each sub

A great book for those looking to expand on their occult studies.
It doesn't go into a lot of depth but the recommended reading lists alone, make this a valuable book for any wiccan collection.

Having gained recent interests in some of the paths included, I am now armed with some quality lists for future reading and study.

Takes the guesswork out of choosing quality books for study.

This book is one of the most concise books I've had to read on Wicca and Witchcraft. It is wonderfully written, has PLENTY of further reading material, and takes a very down to earth approach to getting the reader into the area of 102 Wicca. I can honestly say it is my favorite book related to pagan studies and I consider it the keystone that really paved the way for everything else. (It may have also set an impossibly high standard!) If you want good hard information, no fluff, and a literary k ...more

This is actually a very good book. It goes a little deeper into subjects and offers recommendations for further reading on subjects magickal and non.

This was a very comprehensive book, I enjoyed reading through it. I believe the reading list provided with each chapter was not only comprehensive and helpful but it will ensure that I will need to buy another book shelf.
