After reading the synopsis, I was anxious to get to this one. This is the second installment in Elizabeth Barrett’s Star Harbor series. Theo Grayson is another one of those sexy Grayson brothers. A successful writer, he’s returned home for a visit hoping to regroup and spark his writer’s block. Somewhere along the way to success, he’s lost sight of what’s real and finds that his writing is also taking a toll. He’s ditching his intellectual lifestyle in San Francisco and hoping to reconnec

Blaze of Elisabeth Barrett

This is Ms. Barrett's second novel in the Star Harbor Series. In the first novel we met Seb and Lexie…two very competitive chefs who learn they can pursue their own career, but still love each other.

In this novel we meet Theo, Seb’s twin, but a very different man. Theo is a famous novelist who writes adventure stories about swashbuckling pirates. He is suffering from writers block, living on his brother’s boat, and sharing a cabin with his police officer b

Probably 3.5 stars but I liked this much better than the first in the series! What a difference a little time makes - I was hesitant to start this one simply because there were a lot of things I hated hated about the first in this romance series. BUT I'm happy to say that all of the things that irritated me in the first book - were NOT here in this book!

The story itself was streamlined - no tangents that didn't have anything to do with the story, no words that took me out of the story because I

Recommends it for: sweet romance lovers, hea romance fans, mild but sexy romance fans, family romance series fans,
Cover & Title - 3 out of 5.
Favorite Line - "All I want is for you to stay with me" he said firmly. "It doesn't matter where we are, as long as we're together."
Favorite Character - Avery (such a beautiful name)

This is my first read by this author, so unfortunately i haven't read the first book in the star harbor series. It didn't affect my enjoyment of this book as it is perfect as a stand-alone book. I will most likely go back and read Seb & Lexie's book as they seem like a really love

Blaze of Winter is the second book in Elisabeth Barrett's Star Harbor series. I could only give this one 3 stars but I still enjoyed a majority of the book.

In this installment, we meet Avery Newbridge. Her aunt owns/runs the Star Harbor Inn, the local hotel/Bed and Breakfast, and is recovering from her final treatment after beating cancer. Avery comes to Star Harbor to help her out so that her aunt (Aunt Kate) can relax and get her strength back. Its perfect timing for Avery because she's having

Famous writer, T.R. Grayson aka Theo is finding it difficult to find his muse. Stuck in a rut, he takes his brother’s offer to spend some time in his hometown of Star Harbor to regroup and find some inspiration. Instead, he finds a sweet woman in Avery Newbridge, a social worker from Boston who is also struggling with finding out who she is.

As Avery delays and works at the Star Harbor Inn, the bad-boy-turned-good-boy Theo takes it upon himself to spend the rest of his t

Theo is back in his hometown of Star Harbor trying to find inspiration for his new book after hitting a mental roadblock in San Francisco. He’s surrounded by his brothers, a small town that knows everyone and everything but the only person who Theo wants to get to know better is Avery. Avery is on leave from her job in Boston to help take care of her aunt, who is recovering from chemotherapy, and taking a break from her job as a counselor after she lost a

My review:

After I finished Deep Autumn Heat I turned to the publisher to ask when the next book by Elisabeth Barrett is coming and luckily I did not have to wait too long time. Blaze of Winter is going to be published in few days and I am so glad I got the chance to read it!

Blaze of Winter is well-written contemporary romance. Actually, it is much more than just a romance novel. It offers solid side stories to the main story line which makes Blaze of Winter to very enjoyable read. It includes li

This was the first story I've ever read by Ms. Barrett and I can definitely say I will be looking forward to future releases by this author and am awaiting the next in this series with baited breath. Blaze of Winter was the second book in the Star Harbor series about the Grayson brothers. Set on the beautiful wintry Coast of Massachusetts, this story is rich in imagery detail and makes me really wish I lived somewhere I could play in the snow and snuggle up with my man and a mug of hot chocolate ...more

I read this book not realising it was the second in a series. This didn't matter one bit! I absolutely adored this book. It was easy going, loved the back story of the small town of Star Harbour which weaved effortlessly into the story. I loved Theo, a gentle man who turns into a confident alpha sort as he finds his way to Avery. You really believe they're made for each other and really root for them to have their HEA. I honestly can't fault this book

Damned with faint praise. I love that expression and it seems kind of appropriate for this book. It wasn't bad, but it was far from great.

Theo Grayson is a writer and the twin brother of Seb from Deep Autumn Heat, a book I enjoyed more. He lives in San Francisco but has moved back home, at least temporarily to Star Harbor, hoping the change of location will help the writers block he's experiencing. Finding it a little too crowded living with his brothers, he moves to the local inn, run temporari

Thanks to the publisher, Random House Publishing Group and NetGalley for the chance to read this early!

This is the second book in the contemporary romance series, Star Harbor, by Elisabeth Barrett about the four Grayson Brothers.

The very emotionally-depleted social worker, Avery Newbridge, relocates to Star Harbor to help her Aunt Kate manage the Star Harbor Inn while she is recuperating but, also seizes the opportunity to escape her heartache, and to potentially reenergize her passion for the

This is the second book in Elisabeth Barrett’s Star Harbor series and the second time I have to say, meh. This book, like book one, just didn’t work that well for me. I was excited to read it because the hero is Theo, who is a novelist. He writes historical pirate adventure books. Oh I love this set-up. He goes back to his hometown of Star Harbor for a few months to rejuvenate himself. He has been in a slump, unable to write or get excited about anything for awhile and feels like his hometown an ...more

Elisabeth Barrett wrote a wonderful tale based near my home town in Massachusetts. It made me miss what I never thought I would, snow.

This story was about a trouble making boy that grew up into a wonderful man. He was the mastermind, the planner, in the group of trouble makers made up of him and his brothers. Theo

Technically this was 3.5 stars for me, but since Goodreads doesn't allow half stars, I'm bumping it up to 4.

Blaze of Winter is the 2nd installment in the Star Harbor series. This time we follow the story of the Theo Grayson and Avery Newbridge. Thrown together by "fate" and by fate, I mean chance and a little family/friend interference, we watch as their relationship grows both physically (Theo is YUMMY!) and emotionally. These characters have depth!

Loved even more than 1st book in the series.

I was lucky enough to get an early copy of Blaze of Winter from NetGalley. I enjoyed meeting the Grayson brothers in Deep Autumn Heat and was excited that we were getting Theo’s book next.

Theo Grayson, also known as famous writer T.R. Grayson, comes home to Star Harbor to find a way around his writer’s block. Writing used to come easy for him, but lately he doesn’t have any luck when he sits down to his computer. Staying on his brother Val’s boat is n

I was happy to get my hands on an ARC from NetGalley and for full disclosure have not read the first book in the series. This is my first book I have read by the author and it will not be the last. What a wonderful story, what a perfect little town, and what an intriguing love story. Although I am sure it would make things easier, you do not have to read the first book as this book can stand completely on it's own.

Avery and Theo have both come to Star Harbor looking to escape something and yet

Theo and I got along so much better than his twin Seb and I did. I loved Theo. He is a writer who is experiencing a serious case of writers block. He is hoping that spending some time in Star Harbor with his brothers might loosen him up a bit. The problem is that he is living on a boat with his two older brothers cramped into a tiny room with one of them. The lack of personal space is not helping him find his missing muse. He is one the right path to finding the missing muse in Star Harbor thoug ...more

Leaving her job in Boston out of frustration Avery Newbridge heads out to Star Harbor in order to help her family and hopefully figure out what she wants to do with her life. Blaze of Winter is the 2nd book in the Star Harbor series by Elisabeth Barrett and was every bit as good as the first. These books take a bit to get you warmed up. They start out very wordy and detailed, but by the time you are halfway through you can’t finish it fast enough and then find yourself hating that it’s all done.

Avery Newbridge is rethinking her geography. She loves being a social worker, but is feeling strained and maybe a bit burned out. When asked to come to Star Harbor and help h

This is the second Star Harbour book I have read and I think I can now honestly say that this series is not for me.

I love the setting Star Harbour itself seems really gorgeous and the descriptions of it are really great. It is just everything else I have an issue with.

Like Deep Autumn Heat the first book in the series I had issues with the pacing. It was all a little dull and a little slow and again there were a ton of unneeded detail and scenes (although not as much as in the first book.) Some

This book drove me bonkers. More specifically, Theo and Avery drove me bonkers. I like Star Harbor, and I like the people there. Deep Autumn Heat, the first Star Harbor book, was a lot of fun. And although the relationship between Seb and Lexie had its share of ups, downs and misunderstandings, the reasons made sense. They worked. Or when they didn't, the reader knew why they didn't.

Great story, I loved the two main characters as well as all the quirky secondary characters in this small New England town of Star Harbor. I've always enjoyed those small town stories where everyone knows everything about everyone else and they don't hesitate to stick their noses in and give advice when it's needed. Both Avery and Theo can use the advice that they've been given as they learn to trust each other and their feelings. Now I need to read the first story in the Star Harbor series, Dee ...more

In Blaze of Winter by Elisabeth Barrett, Avery Newbridge is worn out from her job as a social worker in Boston. She needs to reassess her life and her job before she can return to work, so being asked by her family to help manage the Star Harbor Inn while her aunt recovers from her chemotherapy treatment could not have happened at a better time for her. Unfortunately, her time alone to think will come to an end when an unexpected guest checks-in and plans to stay there till the end of January. ...more

If I had to be home sick from work this book was my perfect time waster.
I am so totally living this series. The Grayson brothers are hot to trot and all have a great story to tell. This one was no exception.
Theodore Grayson has returned to Star Harbor in the hippie of gaining some new insight into his new book. He decides to stay at the inn instead of his brothers boat. Once he gets there a certain female sets not only his story writing on fire but certain feelings as well.
