Daniel Corrigan is as regular as can be, especially when compared to the Supers: kids in his new hometown with actual powers like flight and super strength. But Daniel's not powerless. Only he was able to stop the Shroud, a supervillian bent on stealing his newfound friends' powers. And thanks to him, his friends got to keep those powers.

Now Daniel himself is starting to d...more

Summary:
Just when you think your town is safe...
We meet up with Daniel, Eric, Louisa, Rose, and Molly after Herman Plunkett, the "Shroud", is buried and presumed dead. This should be party time as all of the Supers can keep their powers. Unfortunately, Theo Plunkett pops into town and almost immediately drives off a bridge. Eric attempts to save him by flying over and using his super strength to lift the vehicle, but something goes terribly wrong and Eric loses his powers. Daniel, the only Super...more

I love superhero stories, and POWERLESS stood out from the pack to me because of it's brutal first chapter. Michael's whole life is flying, until he wakes up without his powers or memories, never to fly again. That's been the fate of the children of Noble's Green for centuries. Many of them have a superpower, but they lose it and all memory of it on their thirteenth birthday. Then Daniel Corrigan came to town and helped the Supers find and defeat the culprit.

But something has happened, and the S...more

This sequel to Powerless find Daniel and his friends back and still worrying about the influence of Herman Plunkett. After Plunkett's great nephew Theo is nearly killed when his car goes over a rail near where the friends are hanging out, the crew feels a need to investigate several things. Why did Eric's powers leave him? Why was Daniel able to help? Is Theo good or evil? Will the family find the information about the Supers in Herman's papers? When the Shroud starts to manifest all over town,...more

The Supers of Noble Green thought that they had defeated the power-stealing Shroud, only to have powers seeped out of them again, but this time by Daniel. Although, the Supers don't blame Daniel right away, instead they blame Herman Plunkett's long lost grand-nephew, Theo. But the stakes are higher this time as new monster prowl the skies, Shades as Daniel calls them. The Supers must band together with Daniel and Theo to solve the mystery and protect the town.

I was lukewarm about Powerless, but...more

The town of Noble’s Green is a special place, where many of the kids develop super-human abilities. But not Daniel Corrigan. He’s a normal kid, but that didn’t stop him from defeating the fearsome Shroud which had terrorized the town’s super-powered kids for generations. In this sequel, a nephew of Herman Plunkett (aka the Shroud) suddenly arrives in town, and the Supers are confronted with the fear that the Shroud might return. As Daniel and his friends begin to investigate, strange things begi...more

Super is the highly entertaining sequel to Powerless. I loved the plot line that developed the characters more fully. Daniel, the protagonist, faces the dilemma that he may be stealing his friends' powers. He discovers this while meeting the grand-nephew of the villain from the first book. I think kids who read Powerless will love this book too. Matthew Cody did leave the ending open for a third book, but I am kind of hoping he doesn't write one. Sometimes future stories are best left to the ima...more

Read this as a read-aloud to one of my fifth grade classes (after they had just finished Powerless) and they LOVED it! It was really fun to share with the kids...especially since I didn't read ahead!

I almost don't mind that we've been set up for another book about Noble's Green. I want to find out more about the supers and how they became super and about the Witch Meteor which is supposed to hit again...soon. But not soon enough! More please. :)

It definitely set up well for a third installment. The middle part dragged and I needed to put it down for a while. I really enjoyed the turn of events at the end.

Eric
Of all the super kids in this book, the most super is a guy named Eric. I blush. Gimme a few minutes and I'll think of something funny to say about that.

It was a great read! Then twist at the end and every part of the plot kept me on my toes. I was never entirely sure what was to happen next. I also couldn't quite figure out the villain of the whole story, there were so many suspects, yet there truly was only one villain. Ha! Great sequel and exciting! If you enjoyed Powerless, you'll love this one too. Again Matthew Cody makes us wonder what truly makes someone heroic.

Can't give away the coolest part of this book, but I liked it more than Powerless. The last chapter was a bit confusing though...might have to reread Powerless to understand what was happening in the last chapter. Chapter 28 (2nd to last chapter) could've ended it for me!

IT was an awesome book but I do not want to give it away for people who are currently reading the book in Mr. Nelson's class.

Def had high expectations for this and was a bit disappointed. Rougher ending than expected- begs another book in the series. I'll read it, but I'm not on pins and needles.
