I love Shirley, Goodness and Mercy and their adventures in helping humans answer their prayers. They now have an apprentice Will, who they take to New York on New Year's Eve. He sees Lucie and Aren standing alone at midnight and nudges them with his wing so they kiss.
The end up in a diner and talk all night. They plan to met again, but Lucie's mom, Wendy, falls and breaks her arm, so Lucie is unable to meet Aren. Wendy says a prayer for them to meet again.

I am a Debbie Macomber fan. In the wide variety of types of books that I read, Macomber fits in a certain niche. Her books are light, clean fun and entertaining. Her characters are so real and the reader ends up thinking of them as friends. Especially in her series books, the characters become really good friends I read Macomber when I am looking for a book that will lift my spirits and take me away from my everyday life.

I meant to review this before Christmas and I forgot so I will do it now. I have only read a few of Debbie Macomber's books. One of them was with the Mrs. Miracle character, but I haven't read any of the angel trio.
If you are looking for a quick whimsical read then you will enjoy Angels at the Table. Shirley, Goodness and Mercy are always getting themselves into trouble. Now they have an apprentice angel, Will. They should have never taken him to earth to look around, but they can't help wanting...more

Debbie Macomber is a prolific writer with a gift for telling one heart-warming story after another, and her skill is rewarded with a huge and loyal fan base. Angels at the Table features recurring characters, Shirley, Goodness and Mercy, angels who take on yet another assignment to answer prayers sent from Earth. The angels are a little more scatter-brained than one might have expected, but their hearts are obviously in the right place.

Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy are three angels with crooked halos. While well intentioned, they have a history of making miracles run awry. Just like too many chefs spoil the pot, too many halos meddle with the marvel. In Angels at the Table, Debbie Macomber’s latest Christmas cozy novel, the trio of angles are joined by Will, an angel-in-training.

Always a good read!! Snuggle up under the covers and get ready to not put this book down!! Debbie MaComber has done it again (and so have her angels!! LOL). You have to read the note that Debbie writes in the book BEFORE you start reading the story to see how she gets the idea for the "apprentence angel." Very creative I must say.

The first thing that drew me to this particular book was the title. I’m a huge believer in Angels, I love everything about them and it is not often that I read a story with angels in. I’d LOVE to read more fiction that features Angels, and after reading this one, I’m now on the look out for more!! I must also say that the cover of this book is GORGEOUS. It is very warm and invites you in before you have even opened the first page!

I love these angel books by Debbie Macomber. I've been reading Debbie's books for years, beginning when she wrote for Harlequin/Silhouette series. She's always been one of my favorite romance authors because her stories are always warm in feeling, with nice people that you like and root for.

With "Angels at the Table", the feast will be a celestial fest, especially when Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy are in attendance. Author Debbie Macomber brings back her mischievous Prayer Ambassadors in a quick and quirky Christmas romance that definitely sparkles with holiday appeal. This time, the angelic trio has an apprentice named Will in tow as they visit New York City on New Year's Eve. When Will sees the opportunity to try out his divine matchmaking skills, he inadvertently initiates a mee...more
Shirley, Goodness and Mercy are back for another eventful season! And they have a new member of the clan, an apprentice, Will. From Psalm 23:6, " Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever." So there you have it! A new angel in training.
All of our angels mean the best in their actions, but sometimes they don't understand that God gave us humans free will. In addition we are stubborn. So on New Year's Eve when our 3 angels...more

Shirley, Goodness and Mercy are at it again, along with young apprentice angel, Will. As always, humans are the draw and their prayers are the reason for our lovable angels return to earth. Will, who has never experienced earth or humans before tries to help before he even knows what he is doing. As usual, something goes wrong and needs to be corrected but without interference in the life of the humans. As our angels try to find ways to help Aren and Lucie get together they create more havoc and...more
This was a charming little story just in time for Christmas. Lucie and Aren have gotten separated from their respective parties on New Year's Eve in Times Square. When Will, a Prayer Ambassador training under the guidance of the angels Goodness, Mercy and Shirley, sees everyone else kissing and hugging as the clock strikes twelve, he gives Lucie and Aren a little shove and they end up kissing. When their plans to meet again one week later are ruined because Lucie's mother is in the hospital, Luc...more
This is another of Ms. Macomber's light-hearted books that she is known for writing about the Holiday Season. This time the three angels Shirley, Goodnes and Mercy have a traineee angel in tow to show him how not to do the work of angels. Will gets carried away and also gets involved in the lives of two young people -- which he has been told not to do. However, the other three angels seem to also get involved in seemingly harmless ways to try to bring the young couple together.

Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy take apprentice angel Will to Time’s Square New York City for the New Year’s celebration. While there Will sees two lonely people standing in the middle of a crowd full of people kissing. Deciding to spread a little Holiday Cheer Will uses his wings to have them bump into each other. For Lucie and Aren it was love at first sight standing in the middle of Times Square they have their first kiss, deciding to meet up a week later at the top of the Empire State Building....more
I love Debbie Macomber... & love her Christmas series... especially when it involves those little mischevious angels, Shirley, Mercy & Goodness. And this time, they have a new angel trying to learn the ropes, Will.
Will learns right away how, as hard as they try, these 3 angels are getting themselves in trouble...

What a delightful read. When I read why Debbie added Will...the Prayer Ambassador, I was hooked. Psalm 23:6, " Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."
Of course anytime Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy get together, and add in the trainee Will, mayhem will happen. You will be giggling with each little oops that happens.

I absolutely adored this book! Of course how can you possibly go wrong with a Debbie Macomber Christmas story. If you are a Debbie Macomber fan which I am one of the great parts of the Christmas season is a Christmas book from Debbie.

Another Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy Angels book. Only this time they have a new Angel named Will that they are helping, his job when he is ready will be to go out and help answer prayers. We find very quickly that Will is not much different than these trouble making, but well meaning, angels. They take him down to earth during the big New Year's Eve celebration and he sees two people who are alone with their backs to one another and causes a minor accident where the two of them meet and fall ha...more
Angels at the Table: A Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy Christmas is a fun, romantic adventure starring some mischievous angels. The three angels now have an apprentice angel, Will, to show the ropes. Their mission as Prayer Ambassadors this time is to correct a situation they accidentally created. Lucie and Aren were both separated from friends and family during New Year's Eve celebrations. This quick meeting turned into more than they thought could ever happen bumping into strangers. However, circ...more
Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy return in this book and bring with them an apprentice angel named Will. They find themselves in Times Square on New Year's Eve. At midnight, Will notices two lonely people standing neat each other and he decides to help them meet by knocking the two of them into each other. I guess some of Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy's bad habits of intervening in human's lives have rubbed off on Will! The young couple instantly hit it off and things are going well until a tragedy...more
The newest Debbie Macomber book about Shirley, Goodness and Mercy, and introducing angel apprentice Will. Oh my, now we have another angel that gets into mischief when coming to earth. Shirley, Goodness and Mercy haven't been to earth in some time and they are anxious to visit again so they decide to bring Will to earth for a "training" session. But just like Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy it doesn't take Will long to get into trouble. Then they have to spend the rest of the book trying to fix the...more
As I have mentioned before, I'm a sucker for anything Christmas. Yes, even the cheesy-feel-good movies and books. This book is the epitome of cheesy and feel good, but it's still fun to read.
Angels at the Table is about four angels who have popped down to earth and inadvertantly caused two people to meet who weren't supposed to meet for another year. Chaos and laughter ensue and I'm pretty sure you can guess the ending. I thought Macomber's angels were funny and charming--they made me smile mor...more

It's okay. I thought Lucie, the heroine, being so unforgiving was childish and not endearing in any way. The hero, Aren, was more sympathetic than the heroine and I was more connnected to his story then to hers.
All in all, there isn't much character development. Lucie is just a goodie-goodie with a stubborn streak while Aren is as good-hearted even as he is broken-hearted.
The angels interference seems a bit forced and they seem extremely silly.
Anyway, it is what it is, cute little holiday story,...more

This is the first of Debbie Macomber's Angel books that I have read. It was a quick read and a real treat.
Shirley, Goodness, Mercy and Will are angels who attempt to straighten out a problem that they caused. The story line is the romance between Lucie and Aren.
I enjoyed the antics and situations the angels got into and wondered what was going to happen between Lucie and Aren. Of course, the reader is going to be hoping that it all goes RIGHT for them. And that is part of what kept me from put...more

I have read many Debbie Macomber books but this is the first of her "Angel" books that I have read. It was delightful. Was it sort of silly? Yes, but in a fun & entertaining way. One can't help but love Shirley, Goodness, Mercy and Will (the newest angel). Their observations of humans and human behavior are so true and they make you stop and think about your own behavior and thoughts. The characters (Lucie, Aren, Wendy & Josie) are truly good people and it was so nice to follow their liv...more

You can always count on Debbie Macomber to delivers a cheerful, romantic and lively story and this time around is no exception to the rule. She brings back her reader’s favorite angel characters, the loveable angels, and also mentions her beloved elder angel “Mrs. Miracle” character in this sweet holiday tale. The plot moves along quickly, and you can almost imagine it as a finished screenplay in your mind as you read along, and with any luck, maybe someday this charming tale will make it to a m...more
This was a sweet, short little book. Compared to the other angel books and the Mrs. Miracle books, this one was lacking though. A short little romance between two people with very little conflict. The angles were totally superflous to the book and I got confused as to what their purpose was. They are prayer embassadors but cannot do anything?
