Super Surprise is a book about a young girl named Destiny and her friends at Zigzag school. One day after Zigzag Afternoon Center, Destiny overheard Jake the Sweeper saying that Ms. Katz had to go, which happened to be Destiny and all of her friends favorite teacher. Destiny and Yolanda came up with an idea to save Ms. Katz and write her poems for everyone to read to see how wonderful she is. To Destiny's surprise, Jake the Sweeper wasn't referring to Ms. Katz at all when he said she had to go, ...more

Young, new chapter book readers will definitely enjoy the Zig Zag Kids series by Patricia Reilly Griff. I read a few of her books as a young kid so when I came across the book Super Surprise on Netgalley I knew reading it for review would be a good choice.
Before the start of the story is a drawing of the characters. It's nice as an introduction in case, as it was for me, this is your first time stepping into a Zig Zag Kids story. Plus, I think it's fun for little minds to have something to help

Destiny overheard something she wasn’t supposed to. Jake the Sweeper said that Ms Katz, a favorite and most beloved teacher of the children at ZigZag School, had to go (as in, leave the school for good) because she made too much of a mess. Desperate to save Ms Katz, Destiny gathers a diverse crew of friends — all who love Ms Katz fiercely — in an effort to save her job! Working hard and thinking creatively, the children of ZigZag School, together, find a way to showcase Ms. Katz and show how imp ...more

This book is a weird category for me. I couldn't even tell the age of the main character, Destiny. She can't read yet and goes to an afternoon center so is she in school?? It just doesn't have enough information about her or her friends. The characters are too young for the level of knowledge needed to read this book. I just didn't care for the book so I would probably never use it in my class

Cute read that teaches kids that we all have something we are good at. I love that cast of characters, and the camaraderie they have. They band together to help out and all have strengths! The book also has a great lesson for making sure to have accurate information before sharing! I love that the chapters are titles by the days of the week to give readers a time line of events! Great chapter books for ages 6 to 9.

I liked this story. it is a good tale about friends, finding what you are good at and also to be careful in what you share. I think that I am going to order the series for a couple of my school libraries.
