I read about this book from a blog somewhere which directed me to her website at www.daniellelaporte.com. From there I went to Amazon.com and bought the Kindle version immediately. As I began to read just the first few pages, I knew this was more than just a read. So, I went to Audible.com and downloaded the audio version read by Danielle, and as it is done when I want to pour a book over myself and let it have its way with me, I listen and read in synch to get a fuller version.

I am delighted to...more

So, I read a lot of 'things like this', of the motivational, you can do anything, sort of thing, and the nice thing with this is that Laporte has also read these, thus her content is both summarising and expanding upon and adding to many things with which I was already familiar.

It's firm, but kind, inspirational and peppered with just enough practical suggestions and questions to ask yourself. I particularly like that it draws on the ideas of being self-employed and self-sufficient as much as j...more

Though I love Danielle LaPorte's web presence and overall attitude, I was not sure how I would enjoy FSS because I had already purchased and worked through the digital version of the program (that is no longer available btw) about a year ago. I expected to get a lot of the same information, same worksheets, and same overall feel from the book as I had from the program-and to some extent that was the case. With that said, I LOVED the book and am so glad that I bought it. First off, its purty. Eve...more

Oh, so that's what a life coach does! I had wondered. Laporte takes her varied life experiences, including running a think tank, starting companies, being a Mom, attending a White House function with purple hair highlights, as well as readings from a variety of self-help books, poetry, song lyrics, and more, and provides exercises to help the reader live life to the fullest. I liked the references to a variety of sources and the worksheets she provided, and although they mostly felt familiar tha...more

This collection of essays and worksheets is designed to spark introspection and action in pursuit of your vocation, art or higher purpose, and it does so with contagious joy, humor, passion and wonder. It's not blandly self-helpy but it's definitely motivational in the self-help style. LaPorte is unabashedly over-the-top enthusiastic and resolutely anti-cynical; in the best way, for this reader. I look forward to going back to it for thoughts and exercises over and over again, when I feel emotio...more

I'm listening to this book on audio. I love the soulful way Danielle Laporte puts words together. She is quite a storyteller.

Warning, there is some rough language. She talks like people talk in real life. Her lessons are based on a life of tremendous experience, from writing white papers, working in a DC thinktank, and running a company with million dollar investors.

Danielle knows what she's talking about.

This book is like having a $1000/hour coach helping you decide what you want your life to...more

I've been a big fan of Danielle's for a while now, having followed her on whitehottruth.com, then on to her new site, daniellelaporte.com. I had bought the digital version of this book (called the Spark Kit back then, now since retired) last summer, and devoured it. So when I went ahead preordered the hardcover, all I was expecting was pretty much a paper version of what I had already bought.

Boy, was I wrong.

The Fire Starter Sessions delivers the same message that the Spark Kit did, a message ab...more

Although "self-help"/ soul-searching books can get a bit a redundant, it's the tone of this book that is kick ass. It is filled with the positive energy of "i love you..." and we are all really here to share what we learn and be our best selves. No two best selves are the same and there is enough...of everything...for everyone...and we don't have don't have to settle.

I think somewhere in the book a reviewer referred to this as a modern "Artist's Way..." I don't think it is actually as spiritual...more

I am usually immediately turned-off by books about personal success involving the word "soulful." (It's right there in the title itself.) But Danielle's book, unlike other self-help books, or, like the best kinds of self-help books, is grounded in the current but based on timeless wisdom. The Fire Starter Sessions is like a simultaneous boot to the butt and face. Get up, do something. Life will happen. Let this book help you let life happen.

I liked this book so much that I slowed down reading it about halfway through because I didn't want it to end. Very practical and very inspirational approach to creating the life you want by someone who practices what she preaches. "We fill up our lives. That's what humans do. The question is what are you filling it with? Are you out-of-control busy, or are you full with life? Full is beautiful. Frantic is a buzz kill."

A fantastic book, true to its title. It made me think and squirm uncomfortably as I pondered the questions at the end of each 'session'. Danielle Laporte does not believe in coddling. Definitely a book to reach for when you are looking to direct or redirect your energies. Note: Now that I'm actually doing the worksheets methodically, I need to revise my rating up from 4 to 5. Simple, commonsensical, life changing!

Timing. Is. Everything. Just one chapter into this library copy convinced me that I must own it. As I transition from traditional work to that of a self-employed artist, Danielle's voice gives me perspective and hope, while asking questions that show me how much I already know. Nothing woo-woo about it with ideas that zing on every page -- quotes from others and original gems from Danielle.

"Your most valuable currency is what comes most naturally to you."
"Being well-rounded is highly overrated....more

This is an amazing book; it will kick start anyone wavering on the fence to action. Want to figure out where you're going in life? Read this book. I love Danielle because she is non apologetic, kick ass, and gentle all at the same time. Her thoughts offer motivation, asks some hard questions, and makes you wonder why you're still on the couch reading it when you know what you have to do to create forward movement in your life. This will be a reference that I return to often.

Disappointing Danielle is great as a blogger but it is challenging to give much credence to a book that is so poorly written and edited. My 16 year old niece could have done a better job stringing together pithy comments and real world insights for a high school social studies class and I didn't make it past the second chapter.

I have the biggest crush on Danielle Laporte. What a super star! I have been following her for a number of years, and this book makes me burst with pride at how far she has come. It also makes me burst with enthusiasm. She is a true genius. Funny. And really authentic in the way she shares her wisdom. Get this book immediately!

Holy cow, this book is amazing! Danielle Laporte offers quick-witted inspiration, with straight talk, eye-opening exercises, and a healthy dose of quotes and comments you'll be tempted to highlight (though the book's so pretty, you just might have to resist). This book is a game-changer for anyone who's ever asked, "What am I supposed to do with my life?"

I highly, HIGHLY recommend this book!

Damn, this book is good. I highly recommend it for anyone who is considering change, of any form. Not only do you feel driven to set out to conquer your dream, but you want to help others with theirs, too. Empowering, inspirational, I want to read a chapter every morning to get a kickstart.

I loved this book. I love the energy and enthusiasm with which she describes "our potential, smarts and can-do-itiveness", while knowing all about our inner anxsts (yes, all of them)!
Read this book. I can't imagine anyone who would not benefit from some or all that Danielle Laporte has to say!!!

In her usual style, Danielle, gives the reader a "chin check" within every page.

This is not your usual self help, rainbows, and unicorns book. She is honest, brazenly funny, and clearly a woman who has walked the path less traveled.

This book is not for crybabies, sissies, or people who want to continue to sit in their own crap.

A refreshing look at how to know what success means to you. And a practical guide on how to dig your not only the "what" but your own unique "why" out from under all the stuff we've been conditioned to think we should want.
Svetlana Saitsky
Incredibly inspiring and real. Funny, direct and relevant- it's the kind of book that won't just change your life, it'll also make you sadwhen it's over and excited to keep moving towards whatever it is you dream of.

This book is a mix of serious business prompts, mixed with a little bit of the Artist way, mixed with a little bit of Attraction books (everything happens for a reason!). I love the fact it's not one of the thousand books about business -only- but also have some spiritual and creative prompts to work with - even if you don't have a career. (like me). I've found that some questions are quite confronting.. which is a good thing actually, if you want to know what you are doing and WHY you are doing...more

It was fine. If I had read this three years ago, I may have been blown away, but by now so many of the concepts seemed quite familiar already. I read the original Fire Starter Sessions (the digital version, not the book) back in 2010, and it rocked my world with actionable work sheets and super helpful videos. I was expecting the best of the best in the book version, with the volume turned up, but really, it just struck me as ok.

I love me some Danielle. This one gets me fired up whenever I read her work. Inspiring, raw and real. Highly recommended to anyone who is looking to start a big new project with gusto.

Game. Changer.

This book was like taking a deep breath of fresh air, & realizing I've been inhaling smog my whole life.

It's a guidebook, so I reference it at least once a week. When I need a lot of help & guidance, daily.

Danielle Laporte is a creative force to be reckoned with and I am very excited to dive into the Fire Starter Sessions.

Love her raw sense of humor and extreme honesty.

Author is vivacious and motivating. I pre-ordered before the release date because reading the first chapter was a tease. It really is lighting a fire!

I would give this book 10 stars, 50 stars, 100 stars if I could! Danielle Laporte is fabulous. Her book is important, fun, informative, vital, creative and wonderful! It spoke to the heart of me, to the soul of me and I am ever, ever grateful. READ IT! LIVE IT!

I am not starting a business or even working full time any more, but this book is full of amazing spiritual insights and little nuggets of wisdom that will inspire and assist you no matter where you are on your life path. I will refer to this book again.

This is like 'artist's way' for new yorkers. It reminds me of Julia Cameron a lot, but coming from a completely different angle, hooked up to a completely different power supply, for a completely different audience. Laporte hails from the 'Jack Kerouac' school of beat poetry style motivation, which isn't a bad thing. But I am vaguely dissatisfied with it, which is simply a personal reaction. I'm sure it would speak volumes to others.
