“The helicopter is now six days overdue, and our supplies are dangerously low. We cannot contact anyone, on shore or at sea. This rig has been drifting since the explosion took out the moorings. We’ll soon hit the eastern currents, and that will drag us further out to sea and likely out of British territory. A storm could push us out to sea all the more quickly.”

fortunatley the pain of reading this was short lived......... it tries to be everything and ends up being nothing!

the pace is inconsistent, at times dragging out pointless conversation and travel time and then all of a sudde n jumping into violence that has no build up or rising tempo. just as you figure out whats hapoening the violence stops. I'm trying to analyse what this style is trying to potray and have come to the realisation that its nothing more than a badly written book.

This read was ok. There were a few spelling errors and some weird grammatical mistakes but nothing overly ridiculous. Unfortunately I'm just not sure how I really feel about a story that contains both vampires and zombies. Either one you need to suspend reality for, but for both to be in the same story? I kinda felt like I was getting into a joke read. There were some entertaining and gruesome scenes and in the end I decided to continue with the series because I want to see what happens to Fergu ...more

Humanity Lost is a post-apocalyptic(?)story about strange happenings in Scotland specifically the Glasgow area when a salvage crew on a rig seeks shelter on land during a threatening storm. The plot is unclear and the characters are somewhat lacking. There are some elements of action and horror however the lack of information about what EXACTLY caused people to regress into acting like mindless children and a few turning into zombies, let alone how the vampires came into the story is quite confu ...more

I really don't know what to make of this story. The plot is really inconsistent. Some uninteresting stuff is described in details and more interesting moments are skipped. The characters teleport from talking out in the open to being in a car.

All the moments seem unarticulated. The characters have a motive for their actions (most of them) but it still seems incoherent. They aren't likeable either. One of the characters goes from being aloof to threatening to run someone over in his car. Another

Who doesn't love zombies and vampires? In this apocalypse novel the world doesn't just end with zombies- but with vampires and people being reverted to low cognition child like creatures. This group of people are unaffected, being off-shore on an oil rig. In order to contact their employers, they return to land and find everything changed. The action is quick in this book, but the characters still developed. The story is too short however and until reading the next two books, I can not accuratel ...more
