I am having a hard time deciding if I would recommend reading "Career Day" before or after I Hunt Killers; no matter what, though, I would recommend reading it. Chronologically speaking, it comes first. However, I think knowing the characters before seeing this glimpse of them could greatly add to the appreciation. (I read I Hunt Killers first.)

You do get answers about how Jasper first gets with Connie and details about his relationship with Howie, but really there is nothing overly compelling. I actually enjoyed this short story quite a bit. I do wonder if it could've been added to the preface of the book "I Hunt Killers", but I think it's better that you know the characters first. A few surprises are in here: Howie's a lot more charming and funny this time, you read about how Jazz got his nickname and how he started going out with Connie. All very interesting.

Just to be sure, I only read the prequel. Wow. Never read anything like this before and I'm serious. A thriller/horror/psychopathic. If I read any further I might can't sleep. EVER. Can't wait to read the book.

Barry Lyga is a recovering comic book geek. When he was a kid, everyone told him that comic books were garbage and would rot his brain, but he had the last laugh. Raised on a steady diet of comics, he worked in the comic book industry for ten years, but now writes full-time because, well, wouldn't you?

The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy & Goth Girl is his first novel.
