I am having a hard time deciding if I would recommend reading "Career Day" before or after I Hunt Killers; no matter what, though, I would recommend reading it. Chronologically speaking, it comes first. However, I think knowing the characters before seeing this glimpse of them could greatly add to the appreciation. (I read I Hunt Killers first.)

"Career Day"
I read Career Day after having already read I Hunt Killers and I feel like that may have been in error. I felt very little was added to the series/first book through the short, although it could cause people who haven't read the book to read it. I actually enjoyed this short story quite a bit. I do wonder if it could've been added to the preface of the book "I Hunt Killers", but I think it's better that you know the characters first. A few surprises are in here: Howie's a lot more charming and funny this time, you read about how Jazz got his nickname and how he started going out with Connie. All very interesting.
