I really enjoyed this book. The God Particle is a topnotch and original piece of light science fiction. The story is rich in detail and full of wonderful touches like the primary character Ricardo's relationship with his ailing father. His rather complicated romantic adventures, and the central mystery, which I will not spoil for you with too much info, blend into a marvelous and original story (something that's increasingly rare these days)- a real STORY.

What I ask of a really good read is tha...more

The premise is definitely an interesting one. The lead character is likeable especially in terms of the relationship with his father. His sense of obligation to his friends and their extended families is admirable. It felt like it would have benefited from more editing as it dragged in places. It focused more on character development than plot. However the ending just doesn't justify the rest of the book, while it has numerous red herrings as to potential solutions to the mystery I don't think t...more

‘The God Particle’ von Rod Kierkegaard Jr ist unglaublich.
Worum es geht? Um den Tod von Ricardos 4 besten Freunden – die werden alle zusammen tot aufgefunden. Keiner weiß, was passiert ist.

This book entertained me, but it suffers from a sloppy edit. Besides the numerous typos and word inaccuracies, (the kind spell check doesn't catch), the narrative could be tightened. Ricardo Allomar finds his 4 friends dead in one of their loft apartment. All four are in relaxed positions as if they died mid conversation. There is no evidence of murder or of suicide. The police, with no evidence, "leave it to those who care" to solve. Richard is stuck with all the girlfriends and wives who need...more

I am somewhat of a completionist so I rarely stop midway through a book. I tried very, very hard to like this book but I just couldn't. The character's dialogue and actions are extremely unbelievable. I can suspend disbelief in extraordinary settings and story but not in how characters would act and react. Maybe this is a good book. Maybe the end would have justified the means. Personally, I couldn't wade through the middle to find out. I do not recommend this book unless you like your character...more

The mystery initially intrigued me, as well as the title. It was an enjoyable lazy day read. However, the story felt incomplete, and there were plot questions that were never addressed or answered.

Couldn't wait for it to end. Surprised I even bothered to get there. Take a pass on this one.
