Please update this work. This particular edition of the book says it's from 2008, which is pretty well into the digital photography era, but most of the examples in the book mention what type of film is used. There are some good tips on technique for different subjects (plants, insects, creepy crawlies), including lighting and composition, but the hardware advice would be hard to follow unless you're shopping the used department of a photography vendor.

Warning: the author seems to love sharing pictures of spiders and the photos grossed me out. Lol

Other than that, his photos in the book are Amazing and he gives helpful info. It isn't a book to read if you are just starting out as it helps to understand stuff about the camera before reading this book. It doesn't come across as a beginners guide to photography but a bit more advanced. kind of a moderate level maybe.

First off, the photographs are GORGEOUS, especially the details captured with the macro lens. But also, the techniques are very far advanced for me at this time, so it wasn't much help as a photography guide. If you're just looking for inspiration for the kinds of shots you want to take, it might be perfect.
It's not a bad book, it's just not what I'm looking for at the moment.
