So, I saw the cover of this book and read the blurb and I was so excited because it looks and sounds like a great story. Add to that the high rating, and I was thinking I had myself an undiscovered gem. Given the $8 price tag on this ebook, the fact that it reads like the work of a novice really irritated me.

I was unaware, when I bought this book, that it was actually a YA book. Two things came to mind as I read this book: Judy Blume's mature YA, and the movie "Thirteen" with Evan Rachel Wood.
This is a story of a troubled teen who is emotionally scarred by sexual abuse, and turns to self-injury to cope with this and other family problems. Some of the chapters end with poems that definitely fit the narrator's frame of mind and maturity level.
