Abby Knight and Fiancé, Marco Salvare are rushing to have the best Wedding shower that has ever been seen in New Chapel, Indiana. There is just a couple of glitches. One glitch is the Mothers. Both Abby's and Marco's Mothers want to help organize, (run) all the preparations for the shower/wedding. Abby is determined to do it all by herself and just the way she envisions.

Second glitch is the small fact that Abby's ex-fiancé, Pryce Osborne is being investigated for murder. Normally Abby wouldn't g...more

I know I'm going to sound like a broken record but I love this author and her Flower Shop series. I know when I read a Kate Collins book I will be entertained. I love her subtle humor and the banter that the main character has with her cousin Jillian, gets me every time. And Marco, isn't so bad either, who wouldn't want an ex-Ranger for a fiance... I read this book in one afternoon. It was a perfect read for a snowy Sunday afternoon.

This book had it all. The regular characters who are just like...more

Take a rich mama's boy, a discarded fiance who has successfully picked herself back up, one hot Italian private detective, two smothering mothers, a ditsy fashion-conscious cousin, a missing girl, a bunch of wacky guests, and the parties are on!

What has happened to Melissa? She is allegedly engaged to Pryce Osborne who was previously engaged to Abby, now owner of the flower shop "Bloomers". Abby is now engaged to and assists Marco, the private detective called in to find the missing Melissa.

There’s magic in the hands that writes this series, because Kate has done it again. She’s delivered a knockout, entertaining and wonderfully crafted book that I could not put down. This book quickly became a page-turner as I had to know what happens next. This book was filled with humor and I especially enjoyed the witty repartee between Abby and Jillian. The naming game was a hoot and I laughed and laughed.

Abby is at her best in this book surrounded by a great supporting cast that includes the...more

Nightshade On Elm Street is the 13th book in the A Flower Shop series from Kate Collins. And a wonderful series it is too.

Abby Knight is busy dealing with her Mother and future Mother in Law, who want to take over the planning of Abby and Marco's wedding. Soon Abby is getting a call from her crazy cousin Jillian asking for help in locating Abby's ex fiancé current fiancé. Needless to say this isn't on Abby high priority list, but Pryce is willing to pay extra for them to look into the missing gi...more

Abby Knight is one busy lady! Running her flower shop, planning a wedding and her bridal shower. Her mom and Marco's mom would love to host the shower but Abby knows exactly what she wants and barring any disasters she is going to get it.

Things are going well until Abby's cousin Jillian makes a request. Abby and her private detective beau, Marco, just have to help find a woman that has gone missing from her in-laws beach house. The woman just happens to be the fiancée of Pryce Osborne, the drip...more

I really like this series. Abby Knight and her now fiancee Marco are a fun couple of sleuths to follow around. This was a pretty good one. There was really only one part where I wanted to smack Abby in the head. Well, maybe a couple of times. Abby was definitely running herself ragged planning her bridal shower (I always thought a bridal shower was thrown for a bride, not by a bride), working at the flower shop she owns, and helping Marco with his PI casing involving Abby's own ex-fiancee Pryce....more

This was a cozy read, and the continuation in the Abbey/Marco romance. Though I found Abbey to be a bit annoying in that she didn't want anyone to help with her bridal shower. That made her look too much like a Bridezilla. Not attractive. The mystery was good, but there were parts that slowed down too much for me.

Still, I like this series and can't wait to see what happens in the next installment...want to hear about the bridal shower, what Jillian will actually pick for a baby's name, and if Fr...more

When Pryce Osborne's fiancee disappears, he tries to hire Abby Knight and her fiance, detective Marco, to investigate--even though he was engaged to Abby years ago, and she hasn't forgiven him for the breakup yet. Abby has enough to do, what with running her florist shop, planning a shower, and fighting off the help of her mother and soon-to-be mother-in-law, both of whom know best, and her ditzy cousin Jillian, who's married to Pryce's younger brother. Then a dead body turns up to complicate ma...more

This was really more of a 3.5 star read for me but I don't know if it was just the mood I was in, or if the book just wasn't doing it for me. I usually like the later books in this series, so I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and say it was my mood.

I can say, categorically, that I can't stand the character of Jillian, Abby's cousin. This woman supposedly has a Harvard degree but by all signs is as stupid as a rutabaga. Seriously, seriously stupid, and not nearly as funny as I think the...more

A fun read, as always. I enjoyed the mystery, the side plot was entertaining, and most importantly, at no time did I feel the need to facepalm or yell at the characters (even though heroine does stupid thing at end of book, she actually acknowledges how stupid it is, and does at least try to mitigate said stupid action).

I did enjoy this but probably not as much as others in this series. It was still a good read but kind of drug on in places for me. I wouldn't be the least surprised if I loved it after another read which it is worth doing. Loved the engagement party although hated all the stuff about getting ready for it.

not bad....i'm a little tired of Abby's "control issues", she has great family + in-laws-to-be but always complains---YET; they always bail her out!! How about she allow them "in her life" instead of "just on the outskirts". Like Pryce said, she felt inferior and pushed his parents/family away.

This is probably a 3.5 star read, but I'm feeling generous today so I'm going the extra .5 star. I always enjoy a visit with the Flower Shop crew, but Abby got on my nerves a bit this time out. She wanted to completely plan her own bridal shower....no help from anyone. Felt like she was blowing off her family & friends. Now, isn't it an etiquette no-no to give yourself a shower??? Just my thought anyway. And it was going to be a really goofy shower, too! Was nice to get a look at Pryce, the...more

Colin gave this to me for Christmas. Cute, but Abby got on my nerves with her unwillingness to accept help from her and Marco's families.

I always enjoy this series of Kate Collins. I tend to get annoyed at her cousin more than I should but I do love the other characters in her shop and her Mom's projects are always fun to read about. It's a nice book to pick up and read here and there; probably perfect for vacation.

Love, love, LOVE this author and series.... Cannot wait for the next book. Maybe one day they will make this into a movie or tv series?!?

I love the flower shop books. My review is on my blog: http://raesrumblings.com as November A to Z.

Kate Collins flower shop mysteries are always a treat. Fast moving and clever. Love her writing.
Cathy
Great continuance of the series. I did find however that this one lacked some of the humor of the previous books.
Glenn Harris
Always fun to watch Abby Knight, flower shop owner and amateur sleuth, solve another murder.
Deanna
I loved this book. I would highly reccommend the entire series.

I am never sure why I'm reading the next installment of the Flower Shop Mysteries because Abby's a really unpleasant person. She's annoying, yet she finds fault with everyone else. I keep hoping the series will end, but it doesn't, I read the next book, & I wonder why I repeat the cycle.
Sue
Funny and fast-paced cozy mystery.
Vicky Beltz
Cozy mystery set around a flower shop.

another great installment in the series.
Jennifer
OK but not that interesting

This was a good story line with interesting characters, as always. The only thing I found annoying was Abby's attitude towards the shower! I felt she was too pig-headed to let anyone help; that's what a wedding shower is about: letting your family and friends celebrate your wedding (yes, you can have a say in the plans, but jeez, let others help out!). Although... the help was, of course, appreciated at the end after all that she went though.
Lauren
Best one so far...only negative thing is that each of the suspects were made to look so suspicious that I wasn't surprised by the ending. It wasn't the type of story where you are blown away when you find out who the murderer is

I am going through similar things in my life that Abby is. (The wedding planning, not the solving murders part.) It made me look at the process through a different set of eyes.
