Alexandria Collins learned the hard way not every man can be trusted. After her husband tried to kill her, she and her son went under FBI protection where they’ve spent the last ten years. Her trust issues with men have created a nonexistent sex life. But when they move to a small Arkansas town, she’s drawn to the biggest, hottest man she’s ever seen.

I was actually enjoying this until the end...it felt kind of abrupt and unfinished. It definitely could have benefited from a good epilogue!

Review for Nocturnereads.com

This story is chockfull of Suspense, Romance, and steamy Erotic sex scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat, biting your nails, laughing and changing your panties! I LOVED it! I was up until the wee hours of the morning because I could not put my kindle down.

Xan is an incredible character, to experience what she has gone through and not given up, takes amazing courage. Brody a.k.a Brutus (fans self), I just want to pull him out of this story and keep him a...more

At sixteen Alexandra “Xan” Collins thought she had met the man of her dreams when she ended up pregnant and he whisked her away from her troubled life and married her but it was the beginning of her nightmare.

Best thing about this book was the cover. Bored to tears on this one. Constantly restating thoughts, reasons and reactions EVERY chapter. I mean every flippin' chapter. As if the first 50 times explaining why Xan (variation of Alexandria-says it all, yes?) is afraid to trust men didn't imprint. When I was half way through the book, and it was stated again, right after she went out to a honkey-tonk bar in a see-through tank and thigh-high leather boots, I was done. I only finished it because I wa...more

I really enjoyed this book, but I'm a little bummed because I don't see any more books in this series. I read this in one sitting. I had the bad guy narrowed down to 3 people. She had me going back and forth trying to figure out which one. Just when I had my mind made up, she would make me change it again. I thought she did a great job and really really really wanted more especially Bear and Roxie. I liked the way she ended it, I was really starting to worry. I wanted my HEA. This was a great re...more

Review Copy from the Publisher

Xan has had a rough 12 years…She doesn’t know who to trust, and after being beaten for years by her ex-husband, doesn’t trust men.

Xan and her son, Scott, have been under witness protection for years, but things are really starting to get dangerous as her ex is up for parole…and she’s finally decided to trust a man again.

Mandy Harbin does a wonderful job of letting you see how isolated Xan and Scott have become, but...more

I have mixed feelings about this book. It had some interesting and intense moments, but most of the time it felt like it was written only to satisfy writer's need to write sexual fantasies. Nothing wrong about that, but as a suspense-romance book it didn't work. If there existed genre called erotic-suspense then this book would belong to there.

+ The story wasn't as foreseeable as I dreaded. It had some surprise moments in it, even though I figured out who was the bad guy among other...more

I loved it. Loved Brody, loved Xan and loved Scott. I was assuming from the way it was written that this was the beginning of a series. I don't see that there is a book 2 yet but I sure hope she is working on one. I like there to be a lot of sex in my books and this book did not disappoint. I thought I had figured out the bad guy fairly early on, then I thought I was wrong, then I thought no I'm right, then I wasn't so sure. Turns out I had figured it out, but I liked the fact that she kept me d...more

Romance is what attracted me to this book. It is a beautiful story between Xan, Brody as well as their entourage. When they first locked eyes, they knew it was love at first sight. They both will deny it. Xan is full of mystery surrounding her arrival in town and Brody's blurry past will catch up to him menacing the joy he had just found in her vixen. Xan has to protect herself and her son but how long will she last in Brody's arms before his past catch up to her and threaten her? On his side, B...more

When I bought the ebook for this B&N did not (does not? idk) have a description and for the first time I bought a book without even knowing what it was about, only that I had read the authors Surrounded by books and I really enjoyed them. I am so glad I did. Mandy Harbin can write erotica that can peel paint. The story was not my type, I'm not usually the witness protection plan, suspense, FBI type of erotica so that was my only drawback, but the story was well told and I actually ended up l...more

Awesome freaking book! Mandy Harbin has penned an intense, yet funny read with a strong yet vulnerable heroine & a hot, yummy alpha who is damaged but manages to let Xan & Scott into his heart! The book is filled with funny, engaging characters & some evil men! I didn't realize the identity of the mole til the end & I loved that!!! And the romance? Not typical but it was fun to watch them progress from lust to love! My guy thanks you Ms Harbin for the wildly passionate & real...more

My first Mandy Harbin novel I actually LOVED! True definition of love at first sight, and a love lost. Xan is one tough lady and Brutus is this the man to stand beside her. Their chemistry is heated just by the glancing into each other's eyes. Favorite line:

"If I was pulling your hair, you'd be too busy screaming my name, and I'd be too deep inside you for you to run anyway." Holy SHIT, my type of Alpha.

After reading Danielle Steel’s Summer’s End, Mandy became hooked on reading romance. Of course she was probably too young to be reading books like that at the time, which made it even that much better! She dabbled in writing throughout adolescence and justified studying it in college under that wonderful umbrella of liberal arts. Living in Arkansas, she figured writing was a dream and not a career...more
