A Sisterhood of Strength: True Stories of Miraculous Service is simply uplifting. This book is composed of stories from many women, whose lives were touched by other women who reached out to serve. In our lives we have many opportunities to help others, whether we know these people or not. The strong message I got, was how we need to learn to reach beyond ourselves and help others. Many of these women related how God let them know how they needed to go help someone in need. The question is, are ...more

This book is comprised of individual accounts of charity between sisters in the gospel. It is such a great example of the amazing gift of service, we, as women, can provide to one another.

When I read the description of this book, I sort of expected accounts of some amazingly huge acts of service. And of course some of them were. But, for the most part, the accounts were of small, seemingly insignificant acts that many women do every day. That is what made them so special. These women were in tun

A Sister hood of Strength is a collection of inspiring true stories of Relief Society sisters around the world giving and receiving service in the name of selfless love. Each true story is followed by a quote from scripture or from the inspired words of ecclesiastical leaders from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
It is a testament to me of the power of God's love in the lives of women and how that love, "the pure love of Christ", transcends barriers, uniting women around the wor
Aimee (Getting Your Read On)
This book is the perfect pick it up and put it down, read a few pages here and there kind of book. It is full of small stories of women in action and doing what women do best~ taking care of each other. Any of the stories in the book could have been mine. I could tell a story of service and love for almost every one I read. I think that's the beauty of friendship and service. When we serve or are served and helped, we create bonds of love and those feelings never leave us.

I know this book is an

Sisterhood of Strength is a compilation of touching stories of sisters who serve each other. You can pick it up and read just one story at a time or read through the whole thing in one sitting as I did. Of the nearly three dozen stories in this book about half are by published LDS authors.

The stories are varied, some are accounts of acts by visiting teachers, other of service to neighbors, friends or family members. A great reminder that sometimes it takes just a small act to make a huge impact

I was excited to read this book, because I've enjoyed reading the new book about the organization of the Relief Society, I thought this would be similar and I wasn't disappointed! This book contains many stories from real women of ways that they have either served and been blessed by it or been served and blessed by another sister. I loved how there was a story and then a short quote or poem. There were a lot of quotes by Prophets, Apostles, and General Relief Society presidents. This book made ...more

This past year, I've read some amazing books about how women can build themselves up, simplify their lives, or enjoy motherhood. It's been a great year for books that encourage a love of being a daughter of God.

This new book, A Sisterhood of Strength by Diony George, focuses on the service women share with each other - how that service answers prayers for the women we serve, how service makes us stronger daughters of God, and forges beautiful friendships. The book is filled with essays from wome

Back Cover Blurb:President Monson has repeatedly expressed that even in our busy, bustling lives, “it’s the service that counts.” and no one knows that better than the quiet, humble women of the relief society. Working together, faithful women form a sisterhood of service, selflessness, and ultimately strength to share with each other and with the entire world.

Experience for your self the pure love that gives birth to such service in this inspiring collection of true stories from the lives of or

A Sisterhood of Strength
by Diony George

A collection of stories from the Relief Society sisters about the strength of sisters of faith and the bond of sisterhood (by blood or by faith). Think Chicken Soup for the Soul.

Here are just a few of the lessons that you will find hidden within the the covers of A Sisterhood of Strength.

When someone is in need we need to reach out to them and offer them the love that we receive from our Heavenly Father. Often reaching out in love to someone in need goes a

It never ceases to amaze me that every time I read a "Mormon" book, I am touched deeply even though I am not a Mormon (and never will be). I am a committed Christian, and I often find books from the LDS persuasion more uplifting than "Christian" books.

This book did not disappoint. It is short, sweet, and powerful. The book is full of simple stories told by women from all different walks of life. The stories are uplifting, sacrificial, and often moving. The stories point out the bond that we wom
A collection of tender stories of love, kindness, and service. What leads a group of ladies to serve a stranger who is sick for months? Or offer comfort to someone who doesn't even speak the same language and you don't know what her sorrow is about? One thing that I love about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the organization called the Relief Society. This organization is for women 18 and older, single or married. The purposes of this organization can be found in the name Reli ...more
As women we often expect too much from ourselves, think that the things we do don’t matter that much, and that we are failing in our efforts to be good daughters of God. Stories like those shared in A Sisterhood of Strength are proof that the little things we do make more of a difference than we realize.

A Sisterhood of Strength is a quick read, great for a Sunday afternoon or for those days when we are feeling discouraged and overwhelmed. Each story is only a page or so in length yet powerful in
