In A.D. 67 Aulus Aurelius was convicted of treason against the Emperor by being a member of the 'cult of Christus". Unwilling to renounce his faith in the creator God, Aulus watched as first his daughter then his wife were killed by the Roman soldiers for their faith. He too was martyred into the arms of Christ. Once in Heaven Aulus watches those on earth and writes letters from Heaven to the modern day church in hopes of encouraging their faith.

While staying well within historic Christian orthodoxy, Hussmann provides plenty of imaginative fodder for the thoughtful Christian. Through the well-developed and believable character Aulus, the reader is offered a first-hand account of the afterlife, as well as sound advice on how to maintain a healthy view of reality. In his letters, Aulus provides a throne-side perspective of scripture, humility, the kingdom of god, suffering, and redemption, all in a smooth and engaging prose, the aim of wh...more

It explains that there is more then one way to be a Martyr for Christ. You can lay down your life for our LORD without dying completely but dying rather to this world. I carry this book in my purse and read it when I need some encouragement. I have a special needs child, who has been through so much, and yes I sometimes ask why…..and I know why but I still ask our LORD why. This book was a blessing to receive and I greatly app...more

Letters from a Martyred Christian by H.L. Hussmann is a book of letters from a martyr, Aulus Aurelius. It is written as fiction and the author makes sure to state in the beginning that this is so and he used creative liberty with the pictures of heaven and such. Aulus starts with his own story of his martyrdom and then each letter is a lesson taken from different stories. It was a very enjoyable read although there were some ideas that I didn't totally agree with. One of them being the idea that...more
I purchased this book from the author and am so glad that I did. I read a chapter a day, along with my devotional and bible readings as he suggested. This is a short book and very easy to read, but it has inspired me to be a better Christian. I always believe that many of the books that I read come to me for a reason and after reading this, know that this was one of them. I look forward to the day when Christ returns to bring us all home - to a place where there is no pain, heartache, sadness, en...more
This book was wonderful. Each chapter (letter) was just as good as the previous one and touched me in a completely different way. I know the stories were mostly fictional but I'd like to believe that similar things happened throughout history and peoples's lives were touched as they were in the book. Not only was this book entertaining and enlightening, it also allowed me to reflect on my own faith and actions. I even had my mom read it as soon as I was finished! Next, I will read it with my hus...more

H.L. was at one time so afraid of talking to people about Jesus that he spent part of two days in a hotel bathroom throwing up. Since that time he has learned much about outreach and apologetics (defending the faith) and today travels throughout the U.S. and in many countries overseas leading mission teams and teaching others to share their faith.
