Jessica Clare had out done herself with this second installment of the Bluebonnet Series. It had exceeded all my expectations and I can say that it is even better than the first. I cannot tell you how much I loved this book.

This was a quick read with hot, steamy sex. The hero's revenge in the beginning was comical, and he quickly redeemed himself. The heroine's down-to-earth-ness and her desire to do things unexpected helped make her likable.

Overall, the plot seemed normal romance-in-a-small-town fluff, and instances of heavy or more in-depth situations/conflicts with the main characters fell short either...more

I could not put this book down!
I have a weakness for stories that start off their characters as enemies and then slowly look past their initial dislike and fall in love. In this case, a hardened ex-marine and the "princess" of the town.

I actually read this book first even though it #2 in the series but it just made me want more! Colt is one character that has climbed my favorite hero's list to be next to some of JR Ward, Sylvia Day and Kresley Cole's alpha male characters.

Cuter than I expected, with a villainous ex who has a surprising amount of staying power (tho' little, AHEM, stamina) through the book.

I like that the author didn't harp TOO heavily on the right/wrong side-of-the-tracks relationship and instead focused on Beth Ann as an individual who's trying to make her own way apart from her family just as much as Colt is.

For my taste there was a little *too* much "new and different ways and places to have sex" standing in for actual relationship development...more

Truth be told, I really wasn't expecting this book to have quite as much sex as it did. If I had done my homework and read that Clare is a pseudonym for Jill Myles, I'd have been more prepared. As it was, I found this occasionally frustrating because it really kept me from seeing a relationship developing beyond humping like rabbits. However, it was an enjoyable read. This was a typical, beach-read-type, light contemporary except for one thing--it was quite erotic! Beth Ann and Colt really, really steamed up the sheets! After years of being with a guy who never really appreciated her, Beth Ann was out to finally become her own woman and do what she wanted to do, the hell with what the town thought, and what she most wanted to do was be with Colt. Of course, that didn't sit too well with her whiny, controlling ex, or most of the townspeople, who wanted to see her with her longtime boyfriend. Why Beth Ann didn't get more of a backbone, and tell everyone to mind their own business, I don't know. This irked me a little--at times I thought she was too nice, and not the sharpest tool in the shed (she had no idea who was trying to sabotage her fledgling business--even though it was quite obvious).

Colt I liked, even though he seemed to have a chip on his shoulder about his family. But with Beth Ann he was adorably sweet, a little insecure, appropriately protective, and a whole lot of sexy! *sigh*

So if you're looking for a quick, light read that's surprisingly erotic, I think you'll enjoy this one. It's nothing deep or particularly original, but it's fast-paced and definitely packs some heat. 4 stars

Colt decides to seek revenge on Beth Ann and keep her out in the woods for awhile but he never expected the spoiled girl to be an amazing woman.

Beth Ann Williamson spent nine years of her life trying to be the perfect daughter and girlfriend to her ex Allan and lost who she was. Even though Beth Ann broke up with Allen ten months earlier no one in the town, including Allen, seem to get that she is moving on and becoming her own person. When Beth Ann is sent by her mother to get her sister, she never expected to be stranded with Colt Waggoner but the more time she spends with him the more she likes him. Beth Ann is becoming her own person and Colt might be the man to help her achieve that.

It took me a little while to get into this book but by the end I loved it. This is the second book in the Bluebonnet series but can be read as stand alone with no problem. Beth Ann is your typical queen bee, daughter of the mayor, good girl who smiled when she was told to and stuck by her cheating boyfriend for nine years. Finally Beth Ann has had enough and is doing things for herself and no one else. I will admit that I disliked Beth Ann A LOT when I first started this book but as she got stronger and stood up for herself and what she wanted more the more she grew on me and I found myself cheering for her by the end.

Colt is just yummy and I loved him from the very beginning. I didn’t like that he first started out trying to make Beth Ann suffer a little in the woods or that he lied to her for awhile but he did redeem himself in the end. Colt has a lot of issues with coming from a family that was poor and looked down on in Bluebonnet but I liked seeing him work past the issues but I still felt that he had more to deal with that weren’t talked about or dealt with. I did really enjoy how he brought out a different side of Beth Ann and that he got her to loosen up so much.

I enjoyed this book a lot and my only big issues with it was that the characters repeated themselves a lot and Beth Ann in the beginning. I really hope the next book is Brenna and Grant’s because those two have a lot of sexual tension and I want Grant to be happy again. This was a great contemporary romance and I can’t wait to read more from this author. (less)

Beth Ann and Colt have never been friends. Beth Ann came from a wealthy family on the right side of the tracks while Colt had to endure the label “white trash Waggoner” growing up. He lived with his brothers and dad in a double wide that needs to be condemned. He escaped, enlisting as soon as he graduated, but a knee injury sent him home and now he’s running wilderness/survival classes with his friends Grant and Dane. What Colt knew about Beth Ann came from just seeing her around town and getting her glares or barely a glance from her. She’s different now, away from Allan, she’s trying to be her own person, doing things she wants to do and she wants to flirt with Colt and that leads to thoughts of a one night stand.

Colt and Beth Ann’s sexy weekend in the woods leads into a tentative relationship. The small town residents all have their own opinions, all bad toward Colt and his “lower” status. I really wish Beth Ann would have stood up for him in front of these people. She doesn’t buy into their talk, but she also doesn’t stick up for her man either. That aside, I had fun getting to know this couple. They’re very naughty, Beth Ann is up for any and everything and Colt is more than happy to oblige. The sex ranges from sweet and sort of vanilla to rough and dirty. And there’s a lot of it happening throughout the story.

I liked seeing Beth Ann grow into her own, her salon is struggling as competition opens up down the street and all her customers start flocking there. She can’t afford an apartment but she doesn’t give up. She keeps fighting for the life she wants and she’ll keep doing it until she can’t go on anymore. Colt gives her the support she needs and more importantly, he’s a shoulder for her to lean on when her life away from her relationship with Colt is going downhill.

There are lies that play a part in their relationship – Colt keeps a couple things from Beth Ann that you just know are going to explode at some point. Personally, I hate lies that play a role in any relationship and are used as means for angst. I did like that the once the truth came out, things didn’t feel so drawn out. The truth came out, feelings were hurt and the resolution all happened in a fairly quick manner. I just wish the truth would have come out a little sooner in the story.

I had fun reading this latest installment in the Bluebonnet series. I found Beth Ann to be so enjoyable both away from Colt and with him. Their relationship is hot and sexy and for me, what helped balance the many sex scenes throughout, was the story that played out for Colt and Beth Ann outside the bedroom. Colt struggles with family issues, Beth Ann with her business, but together they’re a fun, loving couple and were charming to get to know.(less)

This was the second book that I've read from Jessica Clare and I loved it. It was just so good and I couldn't put it down. I loved the relationship between Cold and Beth Ann. Beth Ann has finally had it with her cheating fiance' and has finally cut him loose after nine years of dating. While everyone in town is convinced that Beth Ann is just going through a phase and will eventually take him back, she knows the real truth. That her ex-fiance' was a lying, cheating jerk and she's glad to be rid of him. Now she is bound and determined to become independent and be able to take care of herself without anyone else's help. Everything is great and dandy until she gets lost in the woods during a downpour while out looking for her sister.

The day after Colt graduated high school he fled Bluebonnet and joined the Marines. He was determined to get as far away from Bluebonnet as he could. He never expected to get hurt in the line of duty and now he's back in Bluebonnet working alongside his buddies Dane and Grant running a survival school. Not only does he work at the survival school, he also works as a volunteer for the local fire department. When a bad storm hits, he's responsible for helping to evacuate the area, this includes finding Beth Ann.

Colt and Beth Ann have a tempestuous relationship to say the least. Both have never gotten along and neither are happy to see the other. When Beth Ann is less than grateful for Colt's assistance he decides to teach her a lesson. He tells Beth Ann that they are rained out and stranded in the woods and will have to wait out the rain before they can return home. But instead of complaining and being a spoiled brat, Colt is surprised that he is actually getting along with Beth Ann. Not only are they both getting along, both are quickly beginning to realize just how attracted they are to one another. When Beth Ann propositions Colt asking him to be her first one night stand he knows the right thing would be to say no, but there is just no way he can turn her away. She's just too sexy. The next day both realize that they aren't satisfied with just one night. But can two people that have always hated each other turn that around into a real relationship? Or is it just sex?

I love the relationship between these two and oh my goodness were these two hot together! I loved watching them both realize just how much they cared for the other. I love how protective Colt is when it comes to Beth Ann but not only is he protective, he's so caring. He became the rock she needed and I love that we were able to see his walls come down and let her in.

This book is definitely worth picking up.(less)

The H/h had started off hating each other for their own reasons, but after being stranded (not really;)) Colt and Beth Ann started a hot steamy relationship. 2nd in the series. I liked this even better than the first, which I also enjoyed quite a bit, and as always, I love her voice and characters. Super hot, as I expect from Jill, but this also had a really lovely, slow-building tension in the relationship, when you just know things are going to go bad when a certain secret is revealed ... but it never devolves into crazy misunderstandings, which I appreciate so, so much (and was kind of afraid might happen).

The rain intensifies and by the time she is soaked and muddy, with still no sister, the volunteer firefighters have shown up to escort everyone out. This is where our hero comes into the picture. Colt Waggoner not only volunteers with the fire department but also works with his buddies in an outdoor survival type school. He has had a crush on Beth Ann since high school, but they ran in different circles – hers being the popular crowd, and his the more low-class. But times have changed, and when he finds Beth Ann deep in the woods, he tells a white lie to her that the river has flooded the road and they are stuck out in the woods for the night. Luckily there is a tree house of sorts they take shelter in, where Beth Ann then admits she has never had a one night stand and wants to try it out. Cue the sex.

This is the second book in this series and I liked this one a little more than book one. Colt and Beth Ann have a very cute and oh so sexy relationship. She surprises him at first, not complaining that she is dirty and stuck in the rain and very open sexually. He of course is totally alpha, full of ‘hey darlin’ with a wide repertoire of the sexy sex. The one night stand very easily turns into a relationship. From this point of view, there is really no conflict. They have sex, they enjoy it, they figure out they like spending time together, have a tiny fight at the end, and then happily ever after. I actually didn’t mind the ease of the relationship in this one, although this book is very heavy on the sex. I think some time spent just courting each other would have been nice to see. There is a really sweet scene with Colt and a cake though (that turns totally dirty) that I enjoyed.

The conflict centers more around Beth Ann's ex-boyfriend who refuses to let her go. This seemed to drag on a bit during the book, with a surprise at the end that I didn’t really like. I get tired of the stalker ex-boyfriend in romance books because they are so predictable as this one is.

Overall though if you like erotic books with lots of dirty talk, an alpha hero you might enjoy this one. There is also sex in a salon chair. That was a first for me.

Beth Ann is the local town princess, she comes from money, was the popular girl in high school, and dated the town “hero.” However, the way the town sees her, and the way she sees herself are very different. She doesn’t want to marry her cheating high school sweetheart, and she wants to work hard at her business and become successful on her own two feet.

Colt comes from the poor side of town, from the family that everyone made fun of throughout school and life in general. He knows that he isn’t worthy of Beth Ann, but when he finds her hiking through the woods, he wants to have a little fun with her. He convinces her they can’t get home and spends the weekend putting her through his own survival training. Little did Colt expect, Beth Ann would enjoy it and thrive at the great outdoors. And as their relationship develops, everyone tries to tell them how wrong they are for each other, despite the fact that both Colt and Beth Ann know exactly how right if feels.

This book had such a Romeo and Juliet feel to it, especially when it came to the townsfolk. Everyone was so desperate to push Beth Ann back to her highschool sweetheart, despite the fact that Beth Ann had no desire to be with him anymore. The cold shoulder, dirty looks, and outrageous assumptions from everyone in town were both appalling and hilarious in a way that only Clare can do. I thought the star-crossed lovers aspect was amazing, and it really worked for me.

I absolutely loved and adored both our hero and heroine. Beth Ann was so kind and gentle and although she was perceived by many to be the town “princess,” she hated the moniker. She didn’t have the best home life, her longtime boyfriend was a cheat, and the only thing she desperately wanted was to become a successful business woman while standing on her own two feet. She didn’t want help, she didn’t want handouts, and she wanted to be seen as her own woman. She was so kind and caring to everyone she met. She was just the absolute sweetest heroine and one that I loved reading.

Likewise Colt was a fabulous hero. He started off resenting Beth Ann a little bit, despite the fact that he didn’t even really know her. But the more he did get to know her, the more he fell head over heels for her. Colt was super Alpha in his own way, and yet he was also the kind of hero who stood in the background, always ready to lend a helping hand should his leading lady stumble.

Their relationship was great as well. What started as animosity quickly turned to flaming hot passion and developed into such a great friendship and foundation after that. I love that Clare does such a great job writing truly erotic stories, while keeping the core romance the focus of the overall story. Beth Ann and Colt had some super sexy moments though, that’s for sure!!

All in all I really enjoyed the second installment of the Bluebonnet series. Beth Ann and Colt were both wonderful characters who I was able to fall in love with both individually and as a couple. Their romance was sweet and sexy and oh-so-hot! I can’t wait to see what more Clare brings us in this series!

This was a fast & easy read that I really enjoyed :)

I grew up in a small town like Bluebonnet & the people were exactly like the ones in the story... nosy & just couldn't accept change.
I felt bad for Colt because the stigma of never overcoming your roots is seriously there w/ small-town people not letting anyone rise above their background if it just so happens not to be all that polished bleh

I didn't know that this was the second book in the series already when I started this. Anyway, this can be read as a stand alone so no probs.
The heroine is struggling with finding herself after coming from a long relationship and she really did enjoyed herself in the process with the help of a hot survivalist instructor.

I absolutely loved this book. This one is my favorite of the series so far. I am a huge fan of Jill Miles a/k/a Jessica Clare's writing. Jill's Succubus Diaries series is one of my all time favories. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Colt and Beth Ann. Beth Ann didn’t realize she had a sensual and naughty side until she was with Colt, once she did man o man did she embrace it with abandon. Colt has got to be one of my all time favorite heroes, he is sexy, tender, protective, possessive and loves Beth Ann just as she is. The things that occur in this book with birthday cake will run through my mind and make me fan myself every time I see a birthday cake, good gawd almighty!!!

One thing that I truly enjoyed about this book is that on top of being a sweet, sexy erotic romance, The Care and Feeding of an Alpha Male, is not rushed and it doesn’t feel forced. This is an erotic romance that actually has “romance” in it and the HEA doesn’t come in just a few days. THANK YOU for that Ms. Clare!

The Care and Feeding of An Alpha Male is an extremely sweet and HOT romance, Colt and Beth Ann are lovable, strong and sexy. The story line is funny, sweet, sexy, with just enough conflict and a twist to the story I never ever saw coming. The secondary cast are great, I loved seeing Dean, Miranda, Brenna and Grant. I love Brenna, her quirky ways and how she lives to torment Grant. I am crossing my fingers that we get a story for Grant and Brenna soon, I have a feeling it will be off the charts hot!

Jessica Clare is fast becoming one of my favorite authors.(less)

I have for a long time been a fan of Marines and Cowboys but oh my word ! This author took everything I love about reading and combined it all into one.

We have the small town,the here and there characters (that you can so tell will get their own books) a sexy cowboy kind that use to be one hot Marine. The sex scenes were smoking hot ! I could stop reading ..seriously ladies I had to force myself to stop just rest the eyes a bit.

Fabulous read and I look forward to more !

Loved the 2nd in the Blue Bonnet series! Colt & Beth Ann were more fun to watch than Dane & Miranda! Beth Ann finally grew a back bone & I loved her transformation..., she wasn't embarrassed at all by Colt's supposed thoughts on his fsmily's rep.... And Colt? Big mushy Alpha who treated Beth Ann how every man shld treat a woman..,,,icing... Try it.... That's all I have to say :-)

Smiling, chuckling, smirking..well and fanning myself. These are all the things I found myself doing while reading this book. I found this to be a really pleasant contemporary romance. Likeable characters, plot movements that neither dragged nor made me dizzy, hot romance with good chemistry. I really enjoyed it from beginning to end and this was very welcomed after a long string of intense Urban Fantasy stories.

This was the first book I've read from this author & I will be reading more. I loved every page. A young woman, who wants to make it on her own, has finally had enough of her fiancé of nine years & is determined to do it. Even though she could have seeked help from her parents, she doesn't. Sweet story but it got annoying - it seemed that everything they did was to "prove the town wrong" about Beth Ann; that she wasn't some goody-goody. And while I love me some sexytimes in books, TCAFOAAM had too much - I skimmed the scenes, which lasted pages.

Fun and fast read, but I felt like too much time was spent on the scumbag ex subplot and not enough time on developing the main relationship. I also started quickly skipping through the sex scenes about halfway through. I'm looking forward to Brenna and Grant's book.

Loved it! Veeery steamy. Beth Ann is a great protagonist. Loved how this book *could* have taken the easy route and spiraled into the black hole of misunderstanding shenanigans--but it didn't. Very refreshing. And did I mention that it's steamy?
