I am becoming a huge baseball fan through Morgan Kearns' Deadline and Diamonds series! I fell in love with Xavier from the first chapter in Out of Left Field! Morgan has the ability to give us a multidimensional character right off the bat! X at first appears like your typical jerky jock. But there are glimpses of a wounded sweetheart underneath the pride and stubbornness. I liked how X was forced to let another help him after his injury. To be honest, the cover of this book was my introduction to Morgan Kearns and the minute I saw it I knew I was going to buy this book no matter what the content. Frankie Holden is the teams physical therapist doctor.
Because he's injured his shoulder, they make a deal he'll get it checked out once the opening day game is over with.

I didn’t think Morgan Kearns could top the first two books in the Deadlines & Diamonds Series, but "Out of Left Field" has quickly lunged to the top of my favorites list. If you enjoy a story that comes to life in the palm of your hand and characters that work their way into your heart, making you truly care about what happens in their lives, this book is it. I cried real tears as I read the final chapter in part because it was such a touching way to end and because I knew I was coming to th...more
I loved Xavier and I really liked Frankie but there was something missing for me in this book. Don’t get me wrong, it was still good and it was an enjoyable read but it wasn’t a 5 star read for me.
Xavier was a huge jerk. He kept me amused throughout the book. I especially loved his reactions to Christian and Frankie’s friendship. I admire Frankie for putting up with all his surliness while she was trying to help him.

Yet another home run for Morgan Kearns. Every time Morgan sends me a book, I am certain that I'm going to enjoy it. Xavier will steal your heart! In the latest book in the Deadlines & Diamonds series we get to learn more about Xavier and his vulnerabilities which include a shoulder injury and a miserable childhood. For him to conquer both it will take a strong woman to challenge him and help him overcome his injury and his insecurities, even though she has issues to conquer herself. Gotta love the ultra bad boy character and innocent heroine! Ms. Kearns pulls off the otherwise non-believable twist at the end.
4 stars.
