By this point, it feels like the series is picking up speed, and Scarrow's started to introduce a more complicated mythos for the series- the issue of Pandora.
On the whole, I liked this one better, even if the medieval setting was pretty badly done. This didn't bother me much- most medieval settings get a lot of stuff wrong anyway- but I suppose it might bother someone more obsessive about the era than me.
The violence continues unabated, although it's to the point where I'm simply rolling my e...more

Review:
This is the third book in what is quickly becoming the hit Timeriders series, never a fan of young Adult fiction but always an admitted fan of Alex Scarrows work i approached the first book in two minds, would i feel obligated to like it, would it be too fluffy for an adult, would the language talk down to kids etc..
There was never that problem with the first book, the second or this fantastic third in the series so far.
Each book in the series truly gets better than the last, the plot lin...more

For those who follow the TimeRiders series, satisfaction is guaranteed in the third installment, The Doomsday Code. Alex Scarrow's choice of third-person storytelling allows for better description of a character's appearance, mainly their facial expressions. He also combines descriptions of the environment and current situation with a character's thoughts to describe their reactions to places and events, such as when Sal time-travels for the first time,"Swirling featureless white all around her....more

What a great story!

The Doomsday Code is actually the 3rd book in the Time Riders series. Teens Maddy, Sal and Liam work for an "agency" whose mission is to keep history on the right track. Unfortunately, there are time travelers who go back in time and tend to mess up the past which then alters the future.

Maddy, Sal and Liam feel a shift in the pattern of time and realize that they have to find the source of the shift and correct it or the future as they know it (as WE know it) may never happen...more

I started this one immediately after finishing the second book in the series, and got stuck in. They are such page turners, and the time travel is so enticing that I read it in just a few hours (not all at once). I wasn’t quite so keen on how many other characters were brought into the picture in this one. It’s fun to see the time travellers interacting with others, but having to convince people about time travel over and over isn’t as much fun.

Having said that, I enjoyed the way that Adam track...more

I <3 THIS SERIES.
yes, it is getting a little repetitive but I <3 reading about how history is altered and what the consequences of it would be.
NOW let me get to the real review :D

we've all heard of Robin hood and admired him but we keep forgetting that he is a myth and it is possible that he did not do all he was said to have done and this book explores that fact and what would have happened if king john had been killed .

Liam, Sal and Maddie are continuing on their mission to save history; to keep events as they are supposed to happen and prevent time shifts in the future. A simple movie poster that wasn't there before, and a warning to watch out for 'Pandora', Maddie and Sal visit a computer hacker, Adam Lewis, who has discovered a coded message in an ancient manuscript. With Adam's help, the team is set on their latest adventure. Liam travels back to the time of the Crusades and Richard the Lionheart. There's...more

All of these books are brilliant, they cover quite a few genres and pull it off completely. There's the element of all the futuristic technology, and the time travel enough to keep any sci-fi enthusiast sated. There's also the historical elements when they go back in time to fix the errors and time waves, so sometimes without realising you are actually learning about history. In the first one someone goes back in time to stop Hitler invading Russia, and the three time rider agents find out about...more

And a wonderful cliffhanger of an ending it has.

This is book 3 in the TimeRiders series. Three people taken from the moment of their deaths throughout time and brought together to stop others from changing history and the future.

This one takes us back to Robin Hood and Sherwood Forest with a sprinkling of the search for the Holy Grail. An interesting interpration of two myths.

Some good action and very good character growth for a couple of the mains. Enough that i will probably read book four.

I'm just gonna express my disappointment in the American publishers here. Why the hell do we only get one of these a year? Now we're three books behind, and it's possibly gonna get worse as time goes on. WHY?!?!?!?! I love this series so much, and when I heard this was as far as I could get at the moment being in the US, I was angry beyond angry. What we need is a delay of no more than two months, like what the next season of Continuum is getting after its initial airing in Canada so it can come...more

This is the third in the Time Riders series and just as good as the other two. This would be one of my current favourite series and I'm hanging out for the next one when they visit the American Civil War. This story, which takes place partly in the time of Robin Hood and gives a different take on it, is a good read with plenty of action and drama. I really like the ongoing mystery which is building with each book and the individual growth of the characters. Even Becks, one of the AIs, learns and...more

Oh yes. It took forever until my library finally bought this, but it's totally worth it. I'll never look at Robin Hood the same way again. King Richard is a ruthless war maniac. The Sherriff of Nottingham is a time traveling teenager from the Titanic. And Prince John is head over heels in love-with a cute killer cyborg clone. I laughed so hard every time he and Becks flirted.
But the best part comes when Liam (Nottingham) needs a distraction, so he pulls out handfuls of money he stole from the H...more

Well I'm officially hooked. After the first two books, I might well have ventured away from this series and left it unfinished. However, I decided to give the third book a try and I'm glad I did. This book has turned my ambivalence to true devotion. This series just keeps getting better and better, and now I'm so invested in these characters that I must complete the entire series. As with the "Time Hunters" series by Carl Ashmore (which is also among my favorites), I love how the author gives us...more

THIS BOOK.

This series has so much power over me that upon finishing it I went around my house on a headwalling spree - basically bashing my head against every wall I came across.

AHH-MA-ZING.

(view spoiler)[ ADAM. I DIDN'T LIKE YOU PARTICULARLY BECAUSE YOU CAME IN BETWEEN LIAM AND MADDY *BUT* YOU WERE STILL A GOOD GUY. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER TO BE SAD OR TO BE ANGRY BECAUSE HE WAS SO STUPID! SHE SPECIFICALLY TOLD HIM NOT TO GO THERE. ONE FREAKIN' PLACE SHE TOLD HIM *NOT* TO GO AND HE GOES ANYWAY....more

I hate it when a chronicle book series is too damn good, I have to wait too damn long for the next one! So far each book has been even better than the last.

The time travel elements are even more ambitious this time around. Well it was ambitious in the first two books but even more so here. I don't think I got my head round all the intricacies of it. In all honesty, I suspect there are plenty of loop holes but the narrative is so engrossing, I don't really mind and just accepting the rules the bo...more

Immensely detailed and filled with action and suspense, found myself gasping at a fair few moments in this one, however I am still waiting for a little more development for Sal. While Maddy got some much needed time on the page during this outing, Sal remains to be left in the background and Liam is still in the forefront.
The story in this one is particularly interesting, the best one so far. I found myself intrigued and desperate to turn the page throughout. Fantastic stuff.

These are very good, I just wish I was a little younger so I could enjoy them even more. A lot of history to absorb if you like that sort of thing, and even if you don't, you can't really but help live it a little as the stories unfold. This one was done very nicely as are all of them so far, and I can certainly see why this series was picked up by a big publisher.

I love this series a little more with each book. Every time that HB gives me a book to review that makes me want to headdesk, I remind myself that I'd probably never have picked up these books or Dept 19, if not for them.

This book was really good. I like the guesses of history, and what would happen if something was changed. I also like how exact the author is about the dates in the future. I always find that interesting in the Time Riders series.

This one is definately my favourite so far. It feels like the overall story of the series is starting to take off. I also particularly liked the time period, and it was nice that it was in England and I actually knew something about it.

Gosh darn it, I just love these books! In this one the TimeRiders have to go back to the 1100's to find the Holy Grail because an ancient manuscript has been decoded by a guy in the present who's name is in it and the TimeRiders are like - whaaaa? So they go suss it out. Pretty awes, kind of lost some momentum in the middle, but was pretty Dan Brown towards the end.

Yay!

This book too, was pretty AMAZING! OH MY GOD, I'VE HAD MY MIND BLOWN AWAY SO MANY TIMES NOW, I STOPPED COUNTING. Dear Alex Scarrow, please keep writing these books, they truly are amazing!
Joanna Yeoh
I love reading about how events in the past create time waves which change the setting in the present, and distort the historical timeline.
Paul Money
Very enjoyable third instalment and the pace has picked up. Nice twist to the Robin Hood legend and good to see there is a long term plot in the form of Pandora.

It got boring at the start, but became rocket-railed within not so long. A little less realistic than the others.
