This was, in many ways, a delightful traditional Regency. It's also a cinderella story, always one of my favorite fairy tale plot devices. The book was devoted almost entirely to the cinderella theme, the various people plotting to ruin the heroine, and how the heroine reacted to all her troubles. And it was all very well done.
