I opened “Call Me Tuesday”, began reading and couldn’t put it down. If this story is of the author’s early years, then I am so sorry for it: for a childhood lost, for the emotional hurt and for the pain. I cried more than once during the course of reading this disturbing, sad, heart-wrenching story.

This is a book which is difficult to read at times - for the pain in the writing is so poignant and artfully expressed. A pain that most people would probably want to forget and leave behind. But the author knows that she has a story to tell, a story that needs to be told, so that others may be spared the trauma that Tuesday went through. Which requires remarkable courage, in going through it all - not once, but twice - this second time page by written page.

A mother suffering from mental illness.
A little sweet girl who wants nothing more than her mother’s love.
Family members who turn their backs to the blatant horror that is staring them in the face.
Call Me Tuesday was a tough book to read. Based on true events, it is a fictionalized story of what really happened to author Leigh Byrne while growing up. It reads like a memoir and in its true sense, that’s just what it is.

Call Me Tuesday by Leigh Byrne is one of those stories that really pulls at your heart-strings when you read it. It's the story of Tuesday, and her relationship with her mentally ill mother. This book was impossible to put down. From the minute I picked it up I was hooked on Tuesday's story and I was constantly wanting to hear more of her story when I wasn't reading. The incredible abuse that she went through was terribly sad and made me cry more than once while reading. You don't think about ho...more
This book is about a little girl named Tuesday and the abuse that she endured at the hands of her mentally ill mother. Oh how I wanted to hug her and make the hurt go away. She wanted so badly to be loved by the one person that you think will always love you no matter what. How our lives can change in an instant. I'm so thankful that she found happiness in the end. Looking forward to the next book by Leigh Byrne. Since this was based on a true story I visited the author's website and was pleased...more
This is the second item I reviewed from this writer. While a few interspersed sentences are quite good, the writer appears to lack the knowledge of the mental illnesses about which she writes. She may have book knowledge on the topics, but that doesn't always translate well to understanding how disorders manifest themselves in people. I'm a clinical psychologist, so perhaps others might not care about accurate depictions as much as me. I wish I could recommend this.
Very quick read! Had good reviews and was only 99 cents on Amazon Kindle so I thought I would give it a try. Really enjoyed it but it made me mad, sad..... very disturbing in parts. It sickens you to think this actually goes on in homes around the world. The ending was somewhat of a letdown but I would still recommend it.
It is amazing how something can alter a person so drastically. Tuesday started with a loving mother, but after a head injury life changed drastically for her. We all hear about how a brain injury can change a person's personality: Tuesday had to live it. I commend her on her on her strength and resilience
I won this book through Goodreads First Read and finished it in one sitting! A poignant story about a little girl, Tuesday, and her childhood growing up with an abusive mother suffering from mental issues after falling down a flight of stairs. The fact that Tuesday could continue to seek love and acceptance from her mother after all that was done to her was truly amazing. The story was also slightly depressing in that her father and family members knew what was happening to Tuesday, yet did noth...more

Leigh Byrne is the author of "Call Me Tuesday," a book based on her own true-life experience as a victim of child abuse. She shares her story with hopes of inspiring other adult survivors, and to bring to light the "Scapegoat Child" phenomenon, a sub type of abuse occurring when only one child is singled out from a sibling group and targeted for maltreatment.
