Hobart is a midwestern literary journal that boasts some of the more-visceral writing I’ve seen (not to mention a solid design) Since this issue is their 13th, all the stories have to do with luck (or lack thereof). During the course of reading it, I decided to take note of all the lucky stuff that happened in my life.

Another outstanding issue of Hobart. Includes great work by Amelia Gray, Amy Butcher, Jimmy Chen, and Chelsea Martin. My lessay (list essay) on Luck is one of my favorite things I've written in the past couple of years. Hobart lovefest!

Really quality stuff in here! Amelia Gray's story of pregnancies & donut fires stands out, but all the work featured here is top notch. Hobart is a refreshing change in a world of somewhat stuffy lit journals.

I wrote BACKSWING and also a couple of shorter books, the novella, How to Predict the Weather, and a chapbook of very short pieces, How to Take Yourself Apart, How to Make Yourself Anew.

I also founded and edit HOBART: another literary journal.
