I absolutely love mythology, so when I heard this was Norse mythology on top of that-had to read it! Norse mythology!

So Thor might not make an appearance, but same idea.
In all seriousness, this is about a girl named Bryn-a girl whose life changes drastically after her friend dies. She then realizes that these auras she has seen her whole life mean death. To clarify,...more

My review of Dead Embers (A Valkyrie Novel Book 2 ) by T. G. AYERS
Rating 5*****
This book was provided free from the author in exchange for honest literary review.
Bryn is adjusting to life in Asgard. She and Sigrun have developed a bff type relationship and she is earning her own level of respect there. Only thing is Aidan is still gravely ill from the poison obtained from Loki. Things only remained calm on Asgard for a moment however. It seems someone of something is poisoning the new warriors...more

This is the second book in the series and Bryn is still struggling with what has happened. Aidan is in Hel still suffering from Loki's poison and Bryn is continuing training to be a Valkyrie. She has her wings but has yet to fly successfully and Fen's idea of on the job training is harrowing to say the least. Another journey awaits her as she must try and save both Aidan and Siri so Bryn is off to the realm of the Dwarfs. Action packed with kidnappings, a betrayal by someone close to her and try...more
Earlier this summer, I read Dead Radiance, the first book in the Valkyrie series and loved it. So I was very excited to get to read Dead Embers! This book did not disappoint! While I liked it a tiny bit less (but not much, I really had a hard time deciding whether to give this book a 4.5 or a 4) than Dead Radiance, I thought this book was a great follow up to the first book.
Again, one of the things that I loved about this book is the mythology. It's just so cool. I don't know much at all about V...more

The second book picks up soon after where the first book ended. Bryn is now a Valkyrie in training. Without her best friend by her side, Bryn has a hard time – doubting herself and second guessing her decisions. But time isn’t on her side either. She has to save Aiden and find out who is poisoning people soon as without new warriors, they have little hope of winning the looming war.

This really may be more of a 2.5 for me.
I was drawn in by the fact this series had a different premise. It wasn't the normal vampire or werewolf story, which was a breath of fresh air. I liked the first one, even though the insta-romance between Bryn and Aidan bothered me. I still wanted to see how she got him out of his predicament. But in this book, all the "twists" just started to feel like they were way too much, and I started skimming just so I could get to the end. First there was Aidan wh...more

Like the first book I loved this one just as much, loved it even more as it literally picked up right where Dead Radiance left off. I love that there was no lapse in time. No scratching your head wondering hmmm how did they get there, it seamlessly moved from one book right into the next.
Bryn is as feisty as ever I really love that about her. And right from the start the action begins and Aidan is ripped from her arms even after successfully retrieving the desired jewel the goddess Freya wanted...more

Let me start out by staying ... holy cow has this book turned out to be EPIC!! I mean seriously, talk about a freakin page turner. This book is full of mystery, suspense, action, adventure and total surprises from one page to the next. For me, this book was fully of holding your breath kind of moments. I am actually surprised I am still breathing now.

WOW! T G Ayer sure packs a longship full of action, intrigue and emotional turmoil on poor Bryn in her latest norse fantasy adventure as a modern clone Valkyrie. Things start rather sad and upsetting as both the reader and Bryn reels from Loki's treachery at the end of the last book, Dead Radiance. But Bryn being Bryn doesn't stay down in the dumps for too long before pressing matters regarding her personal valkyrie training raises her out of her room. The chapters where she learns to fly are ve...more
I love Norse Mythology. This book was a ton of fun for me to read.
Bryn is a Valkyrie. She is learning to fit into her role and adjust to the leadership and warrior attributes. I really like her spunk and attitude. She is trying to be her own person while living up to the legend of Brunhilde.
The first part of the book she is trying to save Aiden. There are surprises in store for her. Not all is as she would like it to be. There are clues that lead to betrayal that she doesn't pick up on.

Dead Embers by T.G. Ayer is the second novel in the Valkyrie series and I loved it. This book literally took off where Dead Radiance ended and that was great since you don’t want to miss anything in this series. Just like the previous novel I was pulled into this story from the beginning and I knew I’d to finish it in one sitting.

After participating in the blog tour for the first book in this series, I was more than eager to join this one, and to continue on Bryn's story in this fantastic series.
After the ending in the previous book I was on tenterhooks to see how it would play out, and the twists and turns it would take to rectify the situation we were left with.
What I loved was that this second book follows on straight away from the finale of Dead Radiance, and things are not going so well in Asgard, the Retrievals of...more

Dead Radiance, Book 1, ended on a cliffhanger, and I wasn’t too disappointed because I knew I was able to read Dead Embers immediately. Now that I’ve finished Dead Embers, I’m bummed because I have to wait until March 2013 for Dead Chaos (Book 3) to be released!

Dead Radiance (the prequel to this book) captured me with its evocative setting and a new fresh way of looking at Norse mythology.
Dead Embers picks up where the first book left off. Although this is Book 2 of a trilogy it can be read as a standalone as Bryn's backstory is carefully and subtly woven into this current storyline.
Bryn's trials and tribulations in this book 2 test her in ways she could never imagine.

Wow! What a sequel - and the cliffhanger ending kinda makes me want to scream be ause I know I'll have to wait half a year or longer to find out how the story resolves itself.
The first book in this series is good, but it is crystal clear that Ms. Ayer's skill has increased with the publication of this second book in the series. The writing is better, the characters have more depth, and the plot twists and turns at unexpected times, taking the reader along for a great ride.

Poor Bryn! It seems like nothing is going her way. One thing leads to another and the Warriors of Asgard find themselves dwindling in numbers.
I know I've said this before, but I absolutely love Bryn. She's ferocious, and protects those who are weak. She doesn't always think about the repercussions of her actions, but she has proved to be a valuable asset to Odin. Speaking of Odin, he appears to always take on a fatherly role with Bryn. I wonder if he feels he has to considering the circumstances...more

Dead Embers picks up immediately from where Dead Radiance finished. And trust me it was heart wrenching! This book takes a darker turn than book one and it makes the book. The reason why I rated this book a five star is because I love the way the author writes. The second installment to a beautiful series. I cried and laugh and was on my toes through out the whole book. It was hard to put down. Its one of those books you think about after the fact that it is over. What is even better is, that Thor made an appearance in it. Hello, who wouldn't want to read about it. I also like the fact that the romance in the book wasn't rushed. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this story, although I had to wait. But now I want Book three, because OMG – what an ending!
Bryn struggles to cope without Aiden by her side, but after a couple of forays out into the real world, she is given the opportunity to provide the cure for Aiden and also Siri, the Nidhogg’s daughter. She must enter the dwarves lair to obtain the ingredients. While there, she discovers that she can’t trust everyone.
When she finally gets the cure, Aiden and Siri are both...more
Dead Embers by the talented author T.G Ayer ... what can I say?
This secondary novel in the Valkyrie series is packed so full of action and adventure that there's barely a moment's pause. Where other books may accentuate the blossoming love between protagonists or explore the gritty side of crime, T.G Ayer stays right on the money, never losing sight of her plot, it's ever-thickening drama and the overall end game.

"Dead Embers" picks up right where Dead Radiance ended which I was happy about since I didn't want to miss anything. This is another one of T.G. Ayers books that you just can't put down until your finished. In "Dead Embers" relationships are developing nicely and emotions are flying about. Of course as T.G. loves to do, we have another cliffhanger ending. Highly recommended for all supernatural, paranormal, thriller fans!

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Dead Embers from the author, TG Ayer. I had previously read, reviewed and LOVED the first book in the series, Dead Radiance. So I was overjoyed to get this ARC and to find out what was happening with Bryn and Aidan.
In case you haven’t read Dead Radiance, but have come to read my review, I will try not to have any spoilers in my review. I do try not to spoil things for people anyway, but...more

Dead Embers picks up immediately from where Dead Radiance finished, throwing the reader headlong into the emotional and heart wrenching moment that shocked many to the core.

I love that Bryn learned how to fly and I liked her growth in the story. The ending was stellar and I'm really looking forward to reading the final book when it comes online.

It’s not uncommon for a series entry to stop with an abrupt cliffhanger. Maybe it’s not rare for the next novel to take up IMMEDIATELY where the earlier story paused. What is rare, to this reviewer, is the deft skill with which author T. G. Ayers takes up where she left off, and makes us feel the pain of the protagonist, grieve, weep, and get determined right along with her. The glorious attention to deta...more

T.G does an awesome job!! I felt like I was part of the story Bryn has to be one of my favorite characters in a book so far. The issues Bryn is facing in this second book can be related in a more logical way which is what I love about this series. This book and book one will be on my keeper shelf for a long time to come it is beautifully written. I have to say the cover is sooo beautiful!!

To be honest, I didnt like this book as much. It took longer for the story to get off the ground, There were parts that were described too much in depth with out reveling anything of interest. While it was still a really good book, it lacked in other places too much. The author keeps talking about Bryn and Aidan's relationship, but we still dont know anything about it, or if what they feel is even love, or just raging teenage hormones. We dont know really where either stands, it would have been...more
