Since my youngest daughter was in the womb, I knew I wanted a bilingual household. I had the idea that I would live in a Spanish-speaking country, because of some job offers I was considering. I am not fluent in Spanish, but I have been comfortable with Spanish since I was a child. I figured teaching the language to my daughter would help me to learn it correctly and completely. The first two years of her life, my daughter understood and probably spoke as much English as Spanish, but at the age ...more

My favorite part about Lightning-Fast Spanish for Kids and Families: Learn Spanish, Speak Spanish, Teach Kids Spanish - Quick As A Flash, Even If You Don't Speak A Word Now! is that it is grouped and organized together nicely. There are sections or rather as she has named them “Conversations” dedicated to colors, animals, a walk outside, where are we going, and such as that fit into ordinary everyday life! I love it because it is easy to focus on a particular subject and spend a day just constan ...more

Learn Spanish with a different method in this book by Carolyn Woods. She takes everyday situations such as getting dressed, going somewhere, meals, playtime, walks and more and creates sentences that would be appropriate to learn during those times. No need to know Spanish yourself as the parent because she gives you the phonetic pronunciation as well. You can jump around throughout the book for the conversations you want to start with, no need to start in the beginning and work your way straigh ...more

This book takes a casual attitude toward learning a language, which in my opinion, is similar to the full immersion schools that are popular with many people.

This is a great book for kids especially since they are typically more retentive than adults, but I don't see any reason why parents wouldn't be able to learn as well. I loved Spanish and took it all through high school and college, but it's not necessary to be bilingual to use the book.

The author takes you through 15 various day-to-day s

Lightning-fast Spanish for Kids and Families by author Carolyn Woods is a quick and simple way to start teaching everyone how to speak Spanish!

I took 4 years of Spanish in high school and was never able to speak it – but was able to understand it perfectly. Going through this book really helped me expand upon what I already learned (over 28 years ago!) and take it to a new level. My son wants to be able to talk to some of his friends that speak fluently – or at least understand them. Within 2 we

I'm not sure how to rate this, so using the goodreads term, "it was okay." As a person who has degrees in Spanish and second language acquisition, I don't mind her ideas in the least. But I am terribly confused as to how they would actually create a bilingual child. The conversations will teach vocabulary, no doubt. But conversation? Not going to happen unless the parent uses Spanish a lot more than a conversation or two a day. Also, there are errors throughout, such as "no, por favor" she has t ...more

Carolyn Woods does a great job with her Lightning-Fast series. I have the Spanish and French. The book starts with grammar notes and how to use the book. Then it breaks down conversations into 15 types of conversations such as "around the house". What makes this book/series different than others? The sections that follow - Activities, The Map Game, Treasure Hunts, Scavenger Hunts, Bingo, Games, Hokey Pokey, Concentration, Twister, Charades and more. She even recommends additional materials at th ...more

I got this book to help my family learn Spanish together. We have learned some Spanish in the past, so we had a little background, but you could do it without any Spanish knowledge, too. I would say this is a really fun way to learn with your kids. It has words for different scenarios that you do around the home, like getting dressed, eating, etc. I am a homeschooling parent & appreciate books like this to learn practical application of languages. My kids loved it when I started speaking the ...more

Hi, and thanks for visiting my page! I'm a work-from-home single mom of 4, and I'm always trying to find more efficient ways of doing things so I have time for the fun stuff!

I've written books on teaching your family new languages while you are running errands or doing household chores, and on jobs / businesses you can do from home, to combine earning money with taking care of your kids. Currently
