This vampire novel was filled with eternal mates, twisted love and hatred, cross country chase, and hot, delicious vampires and demilords, what more could a girl ask for? The love between Niccolo and Helena seems somewhat rushed, but it's still cute. Thanks to the help of Crazy Cimil, who remainds me of "Nucking Futs Nix" from Kresley Cole's immortals after dark series, our cute pair comes together, but it seems more for the entertainment and benefit of Cimil. This one is a fruity drink served in a coconut shell with an umbrella. It's sweet and totally enjoyable. I had so much fun with this book. Ms. Pamfiloff got my attention from the first screen. I was leery of the name. I won't lie about that but it all made sense once I got into the story.

I love it when a book surprises me, and this book certainly did. I have paid far, far more for books that I think aren't nearly as fresh, funny and likeable as this one (yeah, you, Argenau books). OK, it ain't War and Peace, but then, have you ever read War and Peace? Enough with the Bible-bashing Tolstoy, get to the War!

Helena manages to get herself left behind in the middle of nowhere whilst on holiday with her friends in the jungles of Mexico. Surprisingly, the plot has depth. I say this because the title really sounds cheesy to me, and some dialogues by the main character Nicollo are really corny. There's a valid reason for his archaic speech however, because Nicollo is a vampire who has lived for a thousand years. He's tired of serving as the General of his Queen's army so he seeks the help of Cimil, goddess of the Underworld, for a way out of Queen Reyna's clutches without ending up dead...or worse. This is the first book by this author I have read (and I didn't realize it was #2 in a series).
I took a chance on it, the plot sounded interesting and it was only 99 cents on amazon, so win-win.
I really liked it!
It was pretty entertaining and it made me laugh out loud more then once.

I really did love the book, but won't give a book a five if there are muliple editing errors, this book is riddled with them and it does make the book harder to enjoy. At points this story had me rolling with laughter and cheering the charators on. I've never been much into reading reviews before recently. To me a review should be done like a critique so the author can see just where and what their reading are seeing and feeling about their writings. The story flow was wonderful and flawless it...more

I love this book. The plus side for me was hot vampires since they are my favorite, but even if I didn't I believe I would have loved this book anyway. It was amazingly not that interesting...bordering on psychotic and boring at the same time. I'm guessing Cimil is supposed to bring cleverness, insight and cheerfulness to the book but her character only managed to irritate the hell out of me. I end up knowing the main characters about as much at the end as the beginning. This book was funny, the author made me laugh numerous times. But I didn't feel a lot of loyalty to the characters. For example when Helena met Andrus, I kept hoping more would happen between them. I liked Andrus. I should have felt more loyalty to Niccolo. But I didn't. I still enjoyed the story though.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. This is a new writer to me and she was great. I loved her whit and humor. This is about a modern day girl being told by an 1300 year old vampire that she is his mate. She doesn't agree with him at first. He is very persistant!!! He has just woken up from a 300 yr nap. I don't know whether I liked this book or not. At times it was frustrating and other times engaging. I typically like sarcastic heroes/ heroines who talk to themselves with snide remarks but this was just too much...almost every paragraph had somekind of comment and it got annoying. I did like Cimili (?...too lazy to go check spelling on the Kindle)...she was entertaining. But the "triangle" betweeen Niccolo/ Helena? and what's his name was too distracting/annoying. If you are looking for a dominant hero who sees what he wants and takes it then you will enjoy this read :) Niccolo is kind of your typical paranormal hero....dominant, demanding, and toe curling sexy. Helena, believe it or not, was a heroine I actually enjoyed. This character is not your typical roll over and beg him to take you type woman and I loved that.

I broke my own rule about reading the sample pages with this one, and I definitely regret it. From the synopsis it sounded like this would be a fun, tongue-in-cheek romp. The kind with a hefty amount of "girl-power" vs. "ancient stereo-typical male" where the whole thing is played for laughs. Instead I got a melodramatic angst fest driven by moronic decisions, in which the only character who is remotely funny is absent for most of the book.

I "accidentally" stumbled on this book/series and was so happy that I did! I truly think it takes a talented author to write a story that involves fantasy/paranormal components....and an even more talented one to make an entire fantasy world come to life in your head and not have it become confusing. Throw in some hilarious characters that wish you could hang out with and you get an awesome series. I have read all three and greatly anticipate another one. These books are certainly worth your tim...more
